I've been very hesitant to write a review here because my experience was both awesome and the worst experience I've ever had. I came here for a spa day for my birthday (12/24/2019) for a massage, bikini/leg wax and a mani-pedi. At the time I made my appointments, I was told I could get a dip manicure. My massage was great. I was relaxed and Richard was very good at knowing how to push and mush my problem areas. Sue was fantastic. I've never done a wax, so I was nervous, but Susan made me comfortable. I didn't feel awkward at all. The only issue I had Sue actually pointed out; because my massage was scheduled first, my legs were oily for my waxing appointment, which made Sue's job more difficult. Now onto the mani-pedi. All the girls at the salon are really nice. My manicurist, Linda apparently doesn't work here full time, but that didn't matter to me. What mattered to me was the fact that she spent nearly three hours on my dip, and at the end told me "I would've made them thinner if we had more time." Folks, I was flabbergasted. As you can see in my photos, my nails were not even in shape or length and were extremely thick. After I left, I sat in my car in the parking lot and balled my eyes out. I've never had such a terrible experience getting my nails done. Also, even with four hours at the salon, I didn't have time for my pedicure. I wrote management and they were able to fit me in the day after Christmas. So not only did I have to spend my birthday with the most embarrassing manicure ever, but I had to go back in to get them fix. I was told it would be covered, but then the manicurist, Dipa, (who was very nice), who came in on her day off when the salon was scheduled to be closed, didn't do dip, and since the original manicure killed my nails (it's been 4 months to the day and JUST now have my nails returned to the strength and length they were when I walked in on my birthday) they had to be clipped very short, forcing me to get tips... so they charged me another $40. Then my manicure/pedicure took 6 hours (I arrived at 1030am and left at 430); I had to cancel a birthday lunch with some friends as I was not even halfway done when I was due to leave. I have another gift certificate for this place that I received while I was having my spa day. I don't know if I'm going to come back because it was such a terrible experience. read more

I've been coming to MacMed Spa for years. Laurie is amazing!!! Whether it's for cure wave pain relief, or one of her facials she can customize and fine tune the applications based on how your skin is responding. She's very intuitive, professional and has a very pleasant bed side manner. I made the mistake of going to another spa in the area I received a gift card for and came back with scars on my face! I expressed concerns about doing anything aggressive and Laurie has put me on a facial program that's very mild the least invasive and I'm already seeing results and scars fading. I've been to some of the top rated spas in the US, but little did I know that my new favorite treatment was in my own backyard. The reiki facial with Linda was so relaxing, I fell asleep. She's extremely gifted. Jenny, also excellent, provides ear candling & sinus massage, relaxation & deep tissue massage. Lily is the mightiest of them all with her ability to take you from being a stale, stiff pretzel to a fresh, pliable pretzel, hot out of the oven, with her Thai Massage techniques. Donna is extremely talented and patiently took the mystery out of what to expect with the microblading I was about to receive! She calmly explained each move she made as she artistically created my new brows and finally, she provided an explanation of what to expect in the healing process. I was then stunned to find that each subsequent day, after the procedure, was exactly as she described it would be. I am not one to complain or speak up but I am really disappointed with how my nails came out after getting an acrylic fill. They are not the same shape, size, length and are also lumpy. One of my nails is even missing a whole corner by my nail bed. I made this appointment last minute because I was so desperate for a fill and it was a huge mistake. Even the polish application was sloppy and my cuticle was cut so much that bleed and dried into my polish. Front desk is very nice and friendly, easy to deal with because It's my first time here I messed up with location that why I late about 10mins. They have two Buildings nearby just a little confused By the way I booked with Obagi peel with price $155. I have a question about VI peel because they don't show on website. But my provider (reiki Potenza) she's recommended me something call Gold Peel and is better than Obagi she told me about $80 more. I heard that for sure!!! I have a lot of questions with her about this peel she explained me how process on blah blah. I never heard how much price she said after told me only $80 that's all and it's not really clear yet but she just start to do it. So that's why I'm not sure what did she do to my face. Just thinking ok $80 is okay more. She's do good jobs but when I'm finished I go to Check out and then girl who's checked me out tell me the price is total $350!!!! I just confused and surprised with the price. I told her my provider told me only $80 more how's come with $200 more? Then she asked Reiki came to talk to me she just fight with me like she told me how much!!!! I never heard she said accept $80 more. And said like she understands English and never lie, promise to God!! That's kind like cheater talking and did something like this before!!! Don't impress how trick she try to upsell to me. Then I just say okay fine I used service already I will pay it. She just walk away and close the door very loud like angry on me. Honestly, I have been waiting to write a review here for a while. I got laser hair removal on my eyebrows a few years ago, I had some hairs in the middle I was sick of plucking. The provider that did it,(Sherine) went way too far and basically removed a third of my eyebrow. Biggest regret of my life and it's non reversible. Now I have to save up money to get micro blading for my eyebrows which were too thick before, and are too far apart now. I wish I had never gone here and wasted my money on laser hair removal which was supposed to help but ultimately lowered my self esteem. read more

This review is about the owner of the business, not about any of the employees. I liked them all and loved my hairdresser but I simply won't do business with a company that won't apologize or try to do anything to correct a situation they did terribly wrong. I had a bad experience with them many years ago, when I first moved to MA part time (my husband and I are bicoastal) when the receptionist's (or now I think owner's daughter) waxed my brows and burned my skin. I never said anything but I didn't go back for years. I was married in 2007 and received a 150.00 gift certificate and never used it until 2017 because of that bad first experience (plus my husband doesn't like massages). I was searching for a hairdresser when I came across the gift certificate and decided to give them another chance. I went and was delighted with the new hairdresser and wrote that stylist a great review. I almost never went to the salon because of that bad first experience, but since I had had a good hair appointment, I decided to trust them with facials. I liked Denise but the hairdresser I was seeing said that I should see another person so I did and had no problems with the waxing she did, so I trusted her to do the waxing and blading. Linda started to pick at what has now turned out to be a small cyst on my face. It should have never been messed with and she should have known that it wasn't something that could be extracted by an aesthetician but a dermatologist. The problem is that she REALLY picked at it. When she was doing it, I felt uncomfortable because of the digging and told her that we were leaving town, I would be attending business dinners and didn't want any problems. I was only there to get my face bladed and she asked me if I wanted a quick extraction so I said yes. I had seen her once before. When I got home, I was HORRIFIED! I now had a HUGE mark on my forehead that remained for more than 3 months. I complained and they wanted me to come in but I was in CA---I wasn't going to fly back to have them treat it but I did expect that they might value their customers enough to compensate for making such a terrible mistake. This mark was HUGE; I couldn't cover it up. It was when I returned to the salon and talked to Jen about it and she acted like it was no big deal. She said "These things happen." Um, no they don't happen. And if they do happen, it's because the aesthetician made an error and did something wrong. I got no apology, no credit, nothing. And I was a good customer that they should have tried harder to keep. In the end, it worked out fine becauses I found an even better hair stylist. read more
