Oh my gosh! I have lived so close to this place for the last 11 years, and I had no idea what I was missing. This pumpkin patch was SO MUCH FUN! We came away with a ton of pumpkins for only $27. I don't have a porch (I live in a condo), but when I do, my porch will be overtaken by Mabey pumpkins. Next year we'll have a little 6 month old to take to the pumpkin patch, and you'd better believe I am pumped for those photo ops. For this year, it was a super fun date night. They have 14 acres of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, with small ones pulled aside into big bins you can pick out of. Grab a barrel and walk around with it, because you'll end up with more than what you thought you wanted (I can't be the only one who thinks pumpkins are so cute!). My husband being the chatty person he is struck up a conversation with the owner, who is a fourth generation farmer. He was so friendly and kind, and it made me feel happy to support a local business. I highly recommend bringing some kind of gloves or protection for your hands. Pumpkin stems are prickly! I also don't recommend wearing your cute fashion boots since you sometimes need to walk into the patch to take a look at a pumpkin; they'll get dirty. Overall, a super fun date night or family night. We loved our experience here!! This is a local family owned pumpkin patch located right behind a family home. We arrived close to 5:30pm on Thursday night and our kids loved walking around to pick their pumpkin--and ended up walking out with several. I recommend arriving close to 5:30 so you have time to pick your pumpkins with your kiddos and still have some sunlight for pictures, by 6:30 it starts to get dark. They have really good sizes and lots of pretty and interesting pumpkins. We brought our own wagon but Mabey's also provide wagons. They price pumpkins by size instead of weight which I liked, you don't have to wait in line to weigh and then figure out total. I think this is our go-to patch now! Mabey's Pumpkin Patch is the cutest local pumpkin patch run by amazing people. It's located in South Jordan-in a fairly residential area, but there is plenty of parking onsite and nearby. There is no cost to enter, and there are adorable photo ops for you to take fall pictures by. If you're there to purchase a pumpkin, which I recommend that you do, you'll likely find the perfect one. There are over 16 acres with 45 different varieties of pumpkins grown. Pumpkins ranging from hold-in-your hand size to small-car size and everything in between! Did I mention the people? We really enjoy this local pumpkin patch! When visiting, we were greeted and asked whether we knew how things worked. We had lots of questions and they had the answers. You can pay with cash or Venmo, free of charge. Debit and credit has an extra charge. There's wagons, if you want to go out into the field to pick some pumpkins. I highly recommend you do! There are so many fun varieties. Word of warning: it can get muddy and slippery after blessed rain storms. But that makes it more fun for the kids! Had so much fun today! This place is ridiculously fun with over 45 different varieties of pumpkins t choose from. How could you possibly go wrong? Such friendly staff too. I loved the lady that checked me in and she was supportive as I was figuring out how to "Venmo" my payment for corn stalks, mini white pumpkins and striped pumpkin too. If you happen across this review.. then you're likely looking at different pumpkin batches to visit. I'd ask yourself what are you hoping to do while at a batch and then certainly take in my review.. If you're looking to go to a patch for a romantic date, find a hat ride, a corn maze, or a bunch of side show fun.. this isn't it. Which is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. But it is 4 acres of several different kinds of pumpkins! It's very quick to get too, not something you need to travel an hour or more away from since it's still within county. It's family run and I mean the whole family. Their probably younger than 16 year old was checking people out and I was impressed with her thoughtfulness in continuing to engage her customers via small talk.. besides the point.. The pricing is better than anything you're going to find at the local super market. The quality is better too. You pick them right off the vine so these guys will last a long time. Id absolutely rather spend my dollars with them than a super market chain. There is a small area setup for you to take some pictures. With a crowd people are pretty thoughtful about getting out of the way for them. But certainly you'd have free range by going during now peak times. I do also recommend going during the golden hour, can capture some great shots that way. Also if you've got young kids - pro tip, take the pictures first because they will get dirty after picking through the pumpkins. read more

The pumpkins are classified by size rather than weight. This probably makes it easier for them to calculate your price, but it also makes it easier for you as you're deciding on which pumpkins to take home! One of the biggest factors for me buying my pumpkin from Mabey's is that it makes me feel so good knowing that I'm buying my pumpkins from a family-owned farm rather than a chain grocery store. I went three times last season. Now, if you do it right, you should not have to go three times in a season. Just once is a splendid experience. But I have a real thing for pumpkin carving and my pumpkin carving needs kept changing this year, so I went three times. I've known of the Mabey family for nearly 15 years but that's hardly a drop in the bucket when you consider that this family--generations of this very family--have been farming on this very same land since the 1800s. I knew them from their sweet corn, but it's the pumpkin patch that has really gained steam over the last few decades. I took some time to talk to the BFIC (Big Farmer In Charge). He was kind enough to tell me about his ancestry, and about how they came to farm pumpkins. They started small at his behest, and when the local buyers of grain dried up, they had a foundation in pumpkins and continued to expand until they're farming the majority of the acreage in pumpkins. They still grow some alfalfa as well as another plot where the corn lives, but there are now 40+ varieties of punkins here. You need to know and appreciate that this is an actual pumpkin patch. Like, this is where they grow them. In some years, as crops are unreliable, they may aggregate pumpkins grown elsewhere, but they are dedicated to growing the things here and 2020 was a bumper crop. I wandered around and saw big ones, little ones, tall ones, round ones, red ones, white ones, green ones, warty ones... there are just so very many to choose from! You can grab a cart and go out into the field, or you can stay near the home where they live and have made a display in the yard, where they've curated some from the field for non-wanderers. Pricing is very fair, and the quality is so far above the grocery stores, that I chose to drive here three times rather than settle. It's a delightful spot, and though you may have to park on the road and walk a bit, I can appreciate that as this land has been surrounded by suburbs and stands as an agricultural island against the impending development. It's no corner lot with price gauging, it's no faux-patch, it's a farm in a neighborhood. I can't stop thinking about this. As an avid gardener myself, I'm just so very interested in every facet of how things run here, how they plan, how they plant, how they run the business side, and how they remain so dang friendly and happy all season. Now that the kids and grandkids are helping, it's really a family affair, and something you can feel when you bring your own family. Very cool pumpkin patch, perfectly hidden off a main road I travel often. Grab a wagon and head on into the pumpkin patch to pick your own! They have areas setup for photos, wide variety of types and sizes, and other Halloween front porch decorations at a reasonable price. This is an IG Mom oasis, so it does get a little crowded with the strollers. A lot of space to run around, but no kiddie activities like some other places, so plan accordingly if trying to find a place to entertain the kids for hours. My obsession with Halloween is borderline concerning. Contrary to what you've been led to believe through Christmas propaganda, autumn really *is* the most wonderful time of the year. Consider the following: what's more enjoyable, being trampled by Christmas shoppers rich off of peppermint mocha or traversing around the pumpkin patch in a state of euphoria? It's a controversial belief, but then again we've managed to politicize wearing a mask, so I've decided in 2020 we're done with politeness. I'm waging my own war on Christmas in the name of Halloween. Enter Mabey's Pumpkin Patch, my 14-acre personal heaven. If you're serious about picking the perfect pumpkin, I'd try my hand here. You will find rows upon rows of pumpkins in various states of growth. To be fair, there are hundreds of pumpkins here, and like any patch, you'll have to do some sifting. However, there are plenty of healthy pumpkins at Mabey's ready to be transformed for your carving pleasure. In fact, there were a few large bins at the end of the pumpkin rows that housed a variety of pristine pumpkins. Perfect for a quick find, if you had trouble out in the field securing a winner. Admission is free! A wonderful incentive, because frankly, I'm sick of paying for pumpkin patches that take a grand total of five minutes to walk around. Where's the fun in that? No fees for admission or parking, you will only have to pay for your pumpkin, which maxes out at $8. There's a sliding scale of prices, but they give you examples of which sizes generally fit where in terms of cost. Not to mention, outside of the carving pumpkins, they offer several different pumpkin varieties, if you're looking for something a bit less conventional. Mini pumpkins are a wonderful option starting at $1. Mabey's prides themselves on having a large variety of pumpkins, and they deliver in spades. Additionally, they provide flatbed carts if you're really trying to stock up and drop some serious scrilla ;) I know that Halloween is the time of year for scares, but I think I've had enough frightening anti-mask moments to last me a lifetime. Thank you Mabey's for not only requiring masks but for providing a sanitation station and contactless payment (although cash is still accepted). The staff here, who I reckon are varying degrees of family members, were incredibly kind, and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. A few quick notes and then I'm out! Mabey's is very easy to find, right off of the main thoroughfare that is So. Jordan Parkway. There is plenty of street parking available off the property. The patch is nearly impossible to miss and sits right next to a residential home on the same property. Just plug it into your GPS and you should be all set.
