So we did. I entered and was surprised to see it really was a fabric shop. And the owner of the shop was surprised to see that I was actually looking for fabric. From the looks of things, the stock was old. There was a section for mostly quilting cottons and the other half of the store was for upholstery material. A small table for very old and outdated patterns was just by the entrance. In another part of the store, there was a box of zippers where you pretty much have to look through to find what you need. Nothing was labeled in terms of content or price. The owner pretty much gives you an offer. No thanks. When I was on my way out, he tried to sell me what he thought was linen. I would say that it was probably a blend of cotton and linen but he said that doesn't mean he's wrong, it's still linen. It was an off white roll of fabric and it's most likely off white because it was faded with age. He even told me to go look at a piece of black polyester. I said not what I would sew with. He then asked me what I am interested in. I said I sew garments and quilting cottons won't do. I like to see linens and rayons for example. I also like to sew with knits. He asked about knits and what I mean. I said it's stretchy materials like sewing t shirts for example. As I walked closer to the exit and he sensed I was really ready to leave, he tried to sell me two old pieces of furniture. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

I was in the market for upholstery because I wanted some furniture restored. I did not realized how much upholstery costs when dealing with certain items. There are different pattern types. There are different companies, etc. Basically it is like buying new. I thought having items upholstered would save me time in looking for new furniture, but it is just as time consuming. I thought I would save some coins too. But I guess it depends on how much work is needed. Oh well, I am contemplating on buying new since the cost isn't too much of a spread. I had to have the couches fixed because the work was not satisfactory. I also had to send back some of the dining room chairs because, again, they were not upholstered properly. He took forever to return the dining room chairs. I requested a reduction in the price and he offered me $500.00 which he never paid. His excuse was that another person did the work but he clearly should have checked everything before the items were delivered. I think that he was hoping that I would not notice the flaws in his work. Unless his business has undergone a significant change, I would not recommend him.

They told me they couldn't put me on the "list" without putting 50% down for labor to be started in 3 months and they would pick up my sofa. At 3.5 months at end of January 2022 they said they were sending someone to pick up, but then a week later, they said I would need to help the guy carry my sofa downstairs. So, I hired movers to deliver it for them. Slipcover was to take 6 weeks to complete. Now at 4 months later, I still don't have my sofa back! I called again to let them know that I would have it picked up and find someone else to do it, and was quickly yelled at and told "NO YOU WON'T PICK IT UP!!" then she hung up on me.

I was greeted immediately and asked if I needed help with anything, cause I probly looked a bit lost. The store is quite large, and beautifully put together and well organized, there are machines strategically placed around to cut material and help with various quilting projects, as well as a large classroom seating area! I was able to get all my questions answered about the project I was trying to work on as well as questions about the machines! The staff is highly informed and very helpful, especially to a newbie like myself. I was able to learn a lot about the different machines and the fabrics. There are hundreds and hundreds of all different printed materials, you will definitely find anything you need and more for any sort of quilt project, too many colors and prints to write on paper! I was able to get some beautiful high quality, soft, red and grey, minky fabric, and cannot wait to use it to attempt to make a huge blanket/quilt. After I was asked "can I help you" women started coming in for a class. They were greeted in a much more friendly manner. I shopped in total silence. The only engaging person was the lady who cut my fabric. She was very friendly and personable. Funny thing was, she was just standing in for the owner. Had it not been for her, I would have left without purchasing anything. The store has quality quilter's fabric that is comparable to other quilt shops. There is a quite large classroom. I was glad to see that they carried several Fabric Cafe 3 Yard Quilt books and kits. Their supply corner was also well stocked. I was checked out at the register with not much conversation. I left feeling that the employees weren't interested in my business. This could easily be a 4.5 rated store if they were welcoming to EVERYONE!
