I mentioned this to the new tech, and she was shocked at how painful it was for me. She said it isn't normal for it to hurt. Fun fact, I did not know caffeine will make your breast tissue sensitive, so avoid it the day of the procedure. After a lively and informative chat, she showed me how the machine actually works and that it's not meant to cause pain. Her name was Carrie and she was a godsend. This time it didn't hurt at all. I left more knowledgeable and empowered.

After calling around to a few places, I decided to come here, and I'm really glad I did! This specific MRI is mobile! It's parked outside and about the size of a semi truck. Well, it is a semi truck, but it's converted, so its huge. There's also a lobby where you go to check in and fill out paperwork with the lady behind the counter. She was super nice, and I was able to actually print the paperwork off their website. That saved me at least a good 15 minutes. I only had to sign on additional document when I got there, so I was ready to go. After a few minutes of waiting, a really nice man came out and called my name. He was SO COOL. He took me out to the machine and we went up on the ramp inside the truck. He opened the door (it looked like a garage door) and there was a little office with all kinds of equipment in it! It was just like a doctors office. I love it! He talked me through what to expect and I had to take off my jewelry, and a few other things. After a few questions and answers, off to the machine! He whipped out the bed and said that it's A) going to make a ton of noise, and most importantly, B) Don't move! I also got to listen to the radio through headphones while I was there. They also have a curtain area if you need to do a quick change. It's not huge, but if you need a private second like I did, it is there. I will say, the machine is super loud, and I could hear it imaging even with the headphones on. The radio wasn't super good, it sounded more like an AM radio. The noise didn't bother me, and the music was a super nice touch. I also had pillows for my head and underneath my knees, which made it slightly more comfortable. Overall, I really actually enjoyed my time here. Kudos to the two guys working the machine, they really did a super job. Warm, friendly and made my day. The whole thing took a little over 30 minutes or so. It flew by, and I was done before I thought I was going to be. Thank you Oakland MRI. They are organized.. have their stuff together, are friendly and courteous over the phone and in person - and the ultrasound technician was just a really cool chick. Also, if you have a Beaumont doctor the results are typically in, read & forwarded to their office on the same day - which is great if you are worried about something. The office is located in the Haggerty Medical Plaza building which is right by the Lifetime Fitness on Haggerty at Ford Rd/ 275.. it is close to the Hampton Inn hotel. The imaging center is suite 180 on the ground floor.

They take the time to answer all questions and make sure you are at ease. I wish I could remember the young lady who performed my imaging- she was great.
