Both of our plates tasted like sizzling hot dehydrated beef jerky! The meat tasted old, as if it was prepared next to a trash can or something. Today I got to experience Mr. Taco. At first glance, the aesthetic of their building speaks good Mexican food. The presentation of Mr. Taco screams that it's a hip, trendy, and tasty spot. This is definitely the case. They tasty lifestyle that they brand is definitely the great taste that you get! I ordered the Chicken Burrito wet with everything in it. It is a nice size serving that tasted extremely fresh. The sauce had great body and flavor; wasn't too watery and wasn't overly thick. The chicken seemed to be great quality giving me the assumption that they definitely take the time to marinate and slow cook their chicken. Honestly, was a great burrito for a quick meal. Wasn't the best I've ever had but was a quality burrito with quality ingredients. My friend ordered the Chicken Quesadilla but received a cheese quesadilla. Accidents happen but I heard him clearly say chicken but the staff at the register didn't seem to be fully paying attention. So when he received the cheese quesadilla he brought it to their attention. Good customer service in my opinion they could of just replaced it at no cost but told him $1.50 more and they would add it, as if just open it up and throw some chicken in there. He decided just to keep the cheese. He said it was very tasty. So if you like a cheese quesadilla, it's a nice simple option. Don't expect them to be accountable for any errors on their side. I'm currently eating here because I'm at jury duty and it's literally across the street, the service is rude. I understand that it's busy but no need to have an ugly attitude and a straight face, didn't even get offered to purchase a drink. I also said that my order was for here, and still got it bagged. If it weren't for the fact that this place is next to my job, and I forgot my lunch, I would have passed. I called my order in advance and still had to wait 20 minutes. When I sat down to eat my food, the cheese on the quesadilla was not even melted. The guacamole is pretty nasty. Soft tacos are not that soft, the meat is dry and so are their limes....the green salsa is whack too. They are lucky they are in a prime location. I'm never wasting my money here again. read more

Meanwhile, I landed at this place in downtown Riverside with the millwork posse and my homey VSap later that afternoon(actual lunch hours for normal people). Need a bail bond or legal services, try this place (salesmen are hovering nearby). Looking for great Mexican food, try another spot. Honestly the food was very average. Had a carne asada burrito and a small soda for like $8 and while it wasn't bad, I've had much better, especially in this price range. Hot sauce was the highlight as far as the food goes...great flavor and really hot. I agree with other reviewers that this place cashes in on jurors and downtown employees by overcharging for food that really isn't anything special. When Mexican food joints are everywhere around here, you need to do something special to stand out and this place doesn't succeed at that. Another note, seating is all outdoors and only some of it is shaded so beware in the summer (all year here in Riverside). Our posse shared a table with a guy we didn't know who ended up being really cool. Best part of lunch was kickin' it oldschool with him and the millwork crew. I decided to try this place out because my friends wanted to eat before we all had to leave, and I can honestly say this place is at most a 3 stars. First the environment is lively and people seemed to enjoy their beers and company watching their favorite sports. However, the place is extremely tiny and discomforting. If you're claustrophobic, I don't recommend coming here to eat, or at least take it to go. On to the food! This is where the 2 stars come into play. Their watermelon juice is actually really good and refreshing especially during the hot days in riverside. I ordered the carne asada California burrito and it wasn't as great such as most California burritos I've tried. I also tried the shrimp taco, which was a lot better than the burrito. Therefore, overall I gave them 3 stars because I could not deny the watermelon juice no more than 2 stars and the food 1 star. I'll probably only be coming back to get some more of that juice and possibly for their tacos only. read more
