Julie was kind, patient, resourceful, and truly knows her craft of catering. She had menu recommendations ready and worked well within our budget for catering a 100 person wedding. Her total staff for our wedding was 10 and each was friendly and eager to help in anyway, while also providing attentive service. When the venue set and poured a champagne glass for my new husband who doesn't drink alcohol- the catering staff corrected the table setting immediately. Food: Started with appetizers and a full-service ice cream bar during cocktail hour. The food was delicious and displayed beautifully. Julie also has some amazing ice cream selections. We followed appetizers with a plated dinner service with three options (Grilled Filet Steak, Champagne Chicken, and an "all free" Stuffed Pepper option for our dietary restricted guests. Steak was prepared perfectly medium rare and the chicken was well seasoned and perfectly paired with our sides. We ended the night with late-night pizza (We're Badgers after all) and it absolutely made our guests' night..or perhaps morning a little easier ;) Bonus Points: One of my very best friends lives and works in Charlotte, NC and has worked and managed fine dining restaurants his whole career. I have always been satisfied with their products and service. Chrlie's has a large variety of top quality cheese to choose from. Their deli sandwiches are made fresh to order with your choice of bread, deli meats, veggies and condiments. They don't skimp on the ingredients either -- their sandwiches make for substantial meal. The grocery department includes both staples and specialty items -- mostly at convenience store prices. Their ice cream is generic but acceptable and the scoops are always generous. For my daughter's wedding rehearsal night picnic we ordered pulled BBQ pork & hot turkey for sandwiches, potato salad, bean salad and a few other items from Charlie's catering kitchen. I'm not a fan of packing catered food to go in apparently reused cardboard ice cream cartons (because I'm not sure exactly how to clean and sanitize them after the ice cream is served) -- but everything tasted fine, all of our guests were satisfied, and I would definitely order from Charlie's catering kitchen again.

We had two total calls. The first call we left off not being in the same ball park for the price (which I was totally okay with). I figured we could cross him off and simply move forward; however, a few days later he reached back out in hopes of working something out - we agreed and arranged a second call. The second called he asked my partner and I so many questions about ourselves (some a little too personal.. maybe it's his way of building rapport but it came off a bit strange). When it came to the discussion surrounding our vision/menu, he wasn't listening to anything we were requesting and continued stating how our budget needs to be doubled if we wanted him. Further, he talked himself up about how he's a high-end chef and knows nearly all cuisines - but told us bbq on a stick was labor intensive and unrealistic for an appetizer. Needless to say, we ended that call knowing it wasn't a good fit. Despite already telling Stephen we were no longer interested, he proceeded to send a series of condescending text messages how we were not going to find a vendor within our price range, that he will not be "low balled" (when we told him our budget to begin with), etc. He went as far as contacting our venue without our permission and requested info on the space. He even went beyond and left a bad Google review about the venue he has never visited. I must also mention there is a Yelp review on Stephen that depicts a similar situation. Search it for yourself. *please note this was my partner and I's interaction with him and cannot speak on behalf of other folks' experience. I'm simply sending this out to warn people and what you might experience from Northwoods.
