He used an alloderm graft to correct retraction, but the graft got completely dissolved by my body. Furthermore he performed orbital decompression which made my corners decompressed. I have now severe retraction with blunted corners. Before the surgery, my corners were never touched, I only had some slight retraction. My consult with him was via skype and lasted only 10 minutes. I understand they may not be equipped with certain things to provide adequate safety for the patient during the procedure, but adding this to a very difficult and long process was extremely stressful and emotional. I hope the business sees this and takes this into consideration. Not only to do their job, look at the chart to see BMI AND make that call BEFORE the patient is all ready with an IV ready for surgery to start, but maybe start emailing patients instructions on how to take a photo of their anatomy that they can then send back to have the anesthesiologist make their final decision. It's done by other facilities, not all, but it's a great idea. Giving it a 2 because the nurse was great. But the ball was dropped somewhere with the other staff. If there is a policy regarding BMI, that information would be in the patient's chart when scheduling the procedure, and should have been caught prior to, and extra steps should have been taken, such as a photo.
