Dr. Lowenstein is an extremely skilled and compassionate surgeon. I highly recommend him to anyone suffering from migraines. My 20 year old son has suffered with debilitating pain/migraines for the past 7 years. He has been in constant daily pain that entire time, the only thing that would relieve his pain was weekly nerve blocks and even those would only reduce his pain for 1-2 days. Friendly heads up: If u have menstrual cycles and are sexually active, be prepared to urinate when u arrive day of surgery. Dr L, being as thorough & cautious as possible (which is another amazing point about Dr L!) required a pregnancy test upon arrival for surgery. At consultation, Dr L will give u some sizers to try on to determine which size implant you want. Be prepared to make that decision on your own, as Dr L and staff will not give you any suggestions, which is OK, because this is your body! You should know what you want for your own self, but choosing a size can a bit tricky. They provide pictures of you with different sizers on that u may view later at home so you don't have to decide on the spot. So, I'm updating this years later because I went back for a consult to see about replacing implants for a different size because of weight loss in the last couple of years. I ended up not doing the surgery with Dr. L. Here is why: 1. He told me I had capsular contraction. (Later proven false by 2 other plastic surgeons and my subsequent surgery with another doctor). His quote for surgery included capsulectomy. 2. When I asked about having implants removed entirely, and sent pictures from other surgeon's site about whether it would be a reasonable expected outcome with an implant removal and lift, he called me and said (1) he's very good at both removal and implant and I just have to know I'll have flat 45-year-old boobs without them; (2) he said, also, that my husband is a jerk and he's glad he doesn't have to sleep with him. No joke. He said that to me. (Because my husband was hoping I'd get bigger implants - but, I'm sorry, what husband doesn't wish for that?) 3. He does not use drains with explant surgery. Look on real-self. Every plastic surgeon uses drains on explant surgery. There's a reason. 4. I ended up going out of town for my surgery to someone who does explant and lift 4x a week. My outcome was absolutely excellent - great results. I'm still 34C with great shape. Not "flat 45-year-old boobs." I won't be going back to Dr. Lowenstein's office for anything. read more

After my last post-up appointment with Dr. Lowenstein, I don't recommend him for a breast augmentation nor will I be returning for future cosmetic procedures. I have wasted my money at this establishment and have been left completely dissatisfied. After being told by Dr. Lowenstein before surgery that I would "have cleavage with a bra" after my breast augmentation, I was very disappointed when I came out of surgery with ZERO cleavage. During my initial consultation, Dr. Lowenstein did not want to see photos of the look I was trying to achieve and only relied on sizers, which I felt could not fully describe the outcome I desired. I brought up these concerns at every follow up appointment, but he completely dismissed my complaints and told me that there was absolutely nothing further he can do unless I wanted to pay the entire fee again to have new implants placed. Had I know this before the surgery, I wouldn't have gone through with it. As a customer who paid out of pocket for an expensive cosmetic procedure, I feel that I need to warn others that Dr. Lowenstein made no efforts to ensure that I was satisfied with the end result and it has left me with worsened self esteem about my body. In my last follow up appointment today, Dr. Lowenstein seemed extremely rushed, calling me by another patients name and even leaving the door slightly ajar during the final portion of the appointment when I was fully exposed. These things just show me that he does not care about my individual experience or satisfaction. After learning I needed far more than what this procedure could fix, I opted for a conservative facelift. After saving for ten years, waiting for my 3 kids to be old enough, and spending years of my life embarrassed by non-existent breasts I finally decided to have breast augmentation. I was so happy with the entire process leading up to the surgery (incredible staff, wonderful doctor, so accommodating to my short time span to get it done, amazing facility, etc). But unfortunately my results have left me more embarrassed than before surgery, even less confidence, and regretful of the savings I spent. My breasts are completely different shapes, not symmetrical at all (like one side is literally almost an inch lower than the other), and has forced me look into second opinions and possibly paying to just have them completely removed. Just an FYI...even though I went into this with completely level (not symmetrical but with both breasts level at the same point on my chest), I ended up completely lopsided. Yes, I was told before surgery that they may not "match perfectly", and you sign your life away that you accept the risk, but I never dreamed that one would be so saggy, they'd be completely different shaped breasts (one is tear shaped and the other is higher and round) and one side an so much lower. It causes my cleavage to be completely off, and has completely ruined intimacy due to my embarrassment. Wishing my experience was different, or that I would've just kept my savings, if only I could go back in time and be fine with my small-but-level boobs. I can only recommend anyone reading this to make sure the doctor spends more time looking at you and predicting how the implants will fall/change post surgery (one of my breasts had more tissue which he says caused it to fall lower, but second opinions have said otherwise). After a botched IPL procedure that left my face over pigmented, I was weary about selecting a plastic surgeon who could remove my jowls through a mini face lift. I can tell you hands down Dr. Lowenstein and his office were my first choice. I am a month post-op now and I am 100% confident I picked the right one. I am a mom of two and I did nurse both kids. Never ever go to this surgeon. I had my breasts done, I was an A cup. I went to a B. My nipples ended up pointing down to the ground, like udders. I went back for another corrective surgery. And I had to pay more money for using the operating room, even though it was his error. Again the implants were incorrectly installed. I went to another surgeon here in town months later. He was able to correct Dr. Lowenstein's mistake. He commented on the jagged incision on my left breast among other things. I thought I had done my homework, but evidently I did not. If I can help someone from becoming disfigured for the rest of their life than I can feel better about what happened to me. read more

I was shocked to see Dr. Lowenstein receive anything but 5 star reviews. I suppose with any type of medical procedure, some people inevitably don't have a perfect result, and with plastic surgery, results are rather subjective. Do not overlook Dr. Lowenstein - he is amazing, and performs small miracles for people, while providing them with honest expectations, the best possible care and attention to detail, and a wonderful bedside manner all around. Wow! This review is for ruthie (sp?) as I have yet to meet with dr. Lowenstein or have my surgery. I called today to make an appointment for a breast augmentation surgery and ruthie was so knowledgeable and helpful, it left me feeling like this is where I'll be coming when I'm ready to have my surgery. We were on the phone for 25+ minutes and during that time, she educated me on the different kinds of breast implants there are, the maintenance on them and the pros and cons of each. When I asked her about the effects that nursing could have on them, she was honest and upfront about nature and gravity and that it would probably be best to wait until I have kids to have them done. I so appreciated her honesty because these days, people will say anything to falsely convince you for their benefit. I wanted to get a face lift and I was not impressed by the doctors in my area. I thought that the closest area to my home where I would find an excellent surgeon would be Santa Barbara. I proceeded to research (on-line) all of the cosmetic surgeons I could find. I had no personal recommendations from anyone and truly trusted the reviews I read. I was impressed by Dr. Lowensteins reviews and proceeded to call his office. I spoke with his staff about the legistics and the cost of surgery. Because I was "an out of towner" they were willing to give me an idea of the pricing over the phone. This was very helpful. I wanted to make sure his pricing was in my budget. We made an appointment and I met Dr. Lowenstein. I really liked the fact he told me exactly what was going to happen. He is a conservative surgeon which was just what I was looking for. I didn't want people to think "Oh, she had a face lift". As he said, I wouldn't look 40, but I would look refreshed. I am 60 and didn't expect to look 40. Although recently, I was with my younger sister (by 7 years) and someone thought I was the younger one.....nice. I did have a full face lift, modified brow lift, upper and lower eyes and a neck lift. I was most concerned about my eyes. The scars would be difficult to conceal if not just right. Dr. Lowenstein exceded my expectations. I couldn't be happier. My eyes look brighter and more symetrical than they were orginally. The way he sculpted my face was amazing. My neck looks fantastic too. Everyone in his office is concerned about your care and your outcome. All of his pre-op and post-op requirements were spot on. I followed them to a "T" and my recovery was perfect. I initially built a relationship with Dr. Sheffield after a friend referred me. I wasn't sure if I would continue the trek from Calabasas when Dr. Lowenstein took over the practice but I have continued due to the same kind of caring bedside manner and quality of service. I have been going to Dr. Lowenstein since he took over Dr. Sheffield's practice years ago. I have consulted with Dr. Lowenstein over the years with the confidence that he will only do what makes sense for me right now. I recently went to his office worried about my jawline. I was insistent on a more invasive procedure. Dr. Lowenstein did not think such an invasive procedure was appropriate at this time, and instead talked to me about Ultherapy. I was very skeptical. I didn't want to spend money on something that would not produce the results that I desired. After another consultation, I decided I would try Ultherapy. I have to say that it worked for me. There was no 'down' time. I went right back to work. I noticed lift right away, though minimal at first Overtime, people kept asking me if I had had anything 'done.' Further lift occurred gradually over a period of about 4 months. I would absolutely do Ultherapy again. I have had excellent results with Dr. Lowenstein and his office practitioners. From start to finish, my experience was 10/10. Beginning with my hour long phone conversation with Ruthie who helped talk me through the process of augmentation. I knew what I wanted but had many concerns and questions. She talked through every one of them and provided very accurate helpful answers. The office is beautiful, and comfortable. It is truly a personal experience. The nurse Suzanne was awesome. Very kind, insightful, and made the whole process comfortable and helped me get the outcome I desired. Dr. Lowenstein listened to me and understood exactly the look I was going for. Day of surgery was like a spa day. Quick and comfortable throughout the whole process. I am SOO happy with my result. My breasts are incredibly natural and have healed just as promised. They are perfectly proportionate to my body just as I wished for.
