I lost my job due to Lyft. I put in my home as pick up with one stop in between and then to work. My driver was nowhere in sight in fact he was at some weird address that I knew nothing about. Driver called asked me when I was ready and I said where the heck are you. He then replied to an address that he was sitting at clear across town obviously not my home. I requested a ride through the Lyft app and was able to track its progress for a while as I was in the queue. Then the ride cancelled without any notice, and I wasn't able to reach anyone for help. My funds were being held and I didn't want to schedule another ride and be charged twice. I tried to reach someone and there is nobody running this business and nobody to reach. Even the help section on the app was useless. The two times I rode with someone else who requested the Lyft, the drivers were reckless and drove dangerously. One driver almost hit pedestrians in a crosswalk, and we felt very unsafe both times. read more

Ok one of us in the group was a Lyft user so the rest of us got to watch it in action, were a little behind with civilization obviously. We were kind of tired of walking Maddison only to find a closed restaurant so we switch gears to a new one and out comes a phone and the Lyftn app was activated, my buddy says a car is on the way, so I point to the car right in front of us and point out a Uber/Lyft car is three feet away from us, look at the windshield and it pulls off which is funny. He says a car is two minutes away so I'm like let's look at the car and the map and show where it is, it's a Chevrolet Silverado two blocks away so I say I hope it's an extended cab pickup truck so we all can fit into it. Well it was a newer extended cab pickup truck that just fit the four of us and five minutes and $6 later we were at the new lunch spot. The truck was a last generation model which was clean and a cab and a half model which means the back doors cant be opened unless the front doors are open first, nothing fancy but the cup holders had assorted candy so I grabbed a Jolly Rancher for the hell of it. The driver was cool enough and didn't over talk us or inject himself into our conversation, all business with just the right flavor for the ride. As far as a first experience with the Lyft car service, I can't complain about anything and I was kind of impressed with the ease of use frankly. I'm downloading the app until I saw the first page of the access list which was everything in my device which I thought was excessive permission, if I have a valid credit card for payment why do you need access to just about everything in my device, Amazon doesn't do this and I will trusted with many thousands of dollars of transactions. read more

New to this style of getting around but need it for a short while. Went with Lyft over Uber for the pricing but not sure it really matters. Would have been 5 stars for the 90% of my drivers who have been great, safe drivers and willing to chat. My reason for the low stars is the App. I have tried booking a couple hours early, seemed to work until scheduled rides were cancelled without any notice to me! I would check the App and see "You will be notified when your driver confirms" when I'd HAD a driver before. Today I tried about 1/2 hour before & was not allowed to book until 45 min later, which puts me about 20 min late. No information on how to schedule rides, the options you might need to use. Total trial & error, very frustrating!! read more

Most of the time this is a reputable service but there are those who scam .. they drive around never picking you up and have no intentions of doing so It's a buisness both Lyft and uber need to address . They cancel the ride or make you cancel after they have collected your money.. BEAWARE. This practice is usually something lazy people do ... and report it ! Awful!!! It said that my ride was booked from Portage to the Zane County Airport. It said that my ride would be there between 1:05 and 1:30. At 1:25, it went into the mode, "looking for the closest available ride". At 1:45, I still didn't have a ride......it was still "looking". I finally had to leave for the airport but because I didn't arrive 45 minutes before my flight was scheduled to leave (and because I was checking a bag), United said I couldn't get on the flight because I was late (had gotten there 30 minutes before my flight) and would have to rescheduled for the next flight. Bottom line - don't rely on Lyft to get you a ride! They left me hanging with no real information on what to expect when they were "looking for the closest ride". Terrible!!! read more

I have been using Lyft for about six months now. I have been generally happy with their service. However, today, that is not the case. I received a call saying that my ride would arrive in 11 minutes. So, I went to wait at the main entrance of the apartment complex. The driver never showed and I miss my appointment. Come to find out the driver went to one of the ancillary entrances. That makes no sense and is totally illogical. On top of that there is no way to contact Lyft to make a complaint since the ride was ordered through my Medicare part C. Lyft has no custoner service phone number that reaches a live person and their online help doesn't allow one to send the message. Apparently, Lyft doesn't care what their customers think. I don't even know how to explain my frustration! I scheduled to be picked up. K was his name drives Nissan Altima license plate was AHJ6136. He was suppose to pick me up and after waiting 5 minutes seeing that he didn't move I called him him and he told me he wasn't doing it. I first used Lyft because a friend recommended it, and while I was in San Diego, CA. I used his referral code, which promises a bonus credit to both parties. I'm new to using app-based taxi services. Out of curiosity, I asked my driver (in San Diego) what he thought about it. The first thing he said was, "You don't make as much as they say you make." Fast forward 2 weeks, and I did not receive my credit. Not only that, but now they're denying I can receive credit because I'm in Madison. I did my best explaining the situation with half a dozen emails to customer service, but despite the cheery attitude, I'm left empty-handed. ***To their credit, Lyft support responded to me on Yelp, and will honor the $20 code read more

Turns out to be just as shady as uber. They lie about being insured just like uber, the drivers are virtually all the same nasty people who drive for uber and their surge rates are almost always on even at the slowest times of day. I'll pay more and wait longer for a cab. At least cabs have insurance and a live person monitoring the trip from dispatch. read more

Lyft is absolutely awesome! My girl friend and i have been using it to safely get home from many a bar without drinking and driving. What a relief having it available. The Madison taxi services are an absolute failure and provide the worst customer service. It was odd reading the previous review here on yelp because lyft drivers clearly all carry a million dollars of liability insurance. I asked a driver early on about this and he was able to show me their insurance policy right on the app. Seems Justin's information is invalid... And he's a taxi driver. Now it all make sense. Scam! They will attract you with lower fares, then spring Premium time rates on you DURING a ride with no prior warning that will add 75% to the bill and significantly exceed the price of all other transportation options you might have. Then don't even try to contact their customer service, it will be a waste of time, all you will get is a boiler plate language and a brush off. Stay away, better go for Uber or yellow taxi. read more
