Busy little nail salon at Woodbine and Mortimer. Not a huge spot, so there was a bit of a wait on a Saturday. Probably better after 430/500 pm. Friendly staff, and they do both acrylic and regular with a wide range of colours. Don't really do appts as they have such a steady stream of people in there. I had found this salon from Instagram. Let me just say that you cannot treat your customers like this when you are in a service based industry. I made an appointment at this nail salon on a Saturday for an appointment on Tuesday. I called them on Tuesday to confirm my appointment and they had no recollection of my appointment. I told them I had booked an appointment with Diana (their design technician) for 6:30. I was leaving on vacation and did not have time to come back any other time. I had spoken with Diana personally to confirm the appointment and discussed that I needed a design. She said 6:30 works perfect. I ended up arriving earlier than my appointment to also book in a pedicure. My pedicure was completed by 6:30 and was told to wait until I was called. 40 mins go by; no acknowledgement from Diana. I asked her long and she told me soon. I told her that I booked an appointment. She did not apologize not acknowledge that I had been waiting even though she had been the one to personally confirm my appointment. I waited longer and was shafted to another lady who didn't even put the top coat of the shellac all the way to the bottom ( please take a look at the pic near the bottom of the nail) I had booked my appointment with a specific person for a reason. I came to this salon because of their design however their customer service completely put me off. Overall I spent 3+ hours at this salon only to end up with a rushed / hack job. The other ladies of the salon were fine and the only reason I stayed for my nails is because I leave for vacation the next day and didnt have time to to anywhere else. I was pretty disappointed with the quality of work done at luxy nails a few weeks ago. I had a pedicure done by the mother and I explained to her that there was acrylic powder on my biggest toe from the previous pedicure I had done and that I would like to have it removed as it had become rough looking. She insisted that she would take care of it all. The pedicure was rushed and I do not feel that my feet were given adequate care. The polish was poorly done and on my big toe she simply painted over the acrylic that I had asked her to remove or at the very least smoothen out, and the end result was honestly laughable. The fact that she was comfortable sending a client off with that quality of service baffled me. I explained to her that I was unhappy with the work and she simply explained that the acrylic was old and not smooth and that's why my the polish did not look presentable and proceeded onto the next client! I also had a manicure done at the salon and when I sat at the manicure station the technician was preparing to cut my nails off and apply a full set of tips when I had clearly stated I wanted a shellac manicure! Another technician then clarified with me as though I didn't know the difference between a shellac manicure and a full set of fake nails! I honestly felt as though they presumed I would want fake nails and I was slightly insulted. I then asked the nail tech NOT to shorten my nails as I had finally achieved a decent length and she quickly began filing and filed so low that I told her she may as well shorten the other nails as well. End result, the shellac polish was applied thick and it had quite a few bubbles in it when I left the store, and the shellac on two nails had already chipped only 3 hours later! I was very disappointed after hearing good things about this place and receiving such poor service and I will not be going back nor will I be recommending their service. read more

I got a refill and polish change ($35), while she got a polish change on her toes ($12). Both nail techs were lovely and quite skillful. My mother in law has fibromyalgia and I was worried about the hand and foot massage (which was included ;)) but they were great, not too hard and she really enjoyed it! Luxy nails just had a huge renovation, which looks great, very friendly people, they need to work on not taking in to many people at a time, I've had a bad experience with them once. I called in about 3 days ahead and booked an appointment with them, the day I got in, it was packed, and I waited 45 minutes before I got my mani pedi, they sat me in the pedicure chair and filled the bucket, I then waited another 25 minutes for them to start my pedicure and the water was freezing, I asked if they were able to change the water but they didn't. After my pedicure, i had to wait another half an hour before I was seated for my mani/fake nails, they were in such a hurry because it was closing time that my fake nails looked like crap, it was sloppy and very un professional, I always like to look in their "design book" for something nice, but when I asked if I was able to get a design the woman gave me a dirty look and gave me a design I wasn't happy with. Now that they have gotten their renovation I do think they have gotten better, their prices are good, and they have some new workers who are amazing at what they do. read more

I've been to many nail salons in the past and being a nail technician myself, I am very picky when it comes to my nails. I haven't had time lately to redo my own nails and sometimes I just plain out get lazy.. so I decided to come to Luxy Nails to try it out. They've had great reviews and they also have numerous Instagram photos that helped me justify going to this particular nail salon over any other. It was close to work so I decided to make an appointment. I walked in for my appointment and was asked what services I would like. I told them I had an appointment for a Shellac Removal and Shellac Manicure, they didn't ask for my name but they sat me down and got started. I told them what I wanted and I showed them a photo to reference to. The first lady that did my Shellac Removal and Manicure was very patient with me and she was super meticulous - which is a bonus! She took the time to buff my nails gently knowing my nails were thin and fragile. She also took her time filing and doing the cuticle work, making sure everything was perfect. After that, she polished my nails without trying to rush her way through the process.. especially because I choose a hard colour to apply (off-white to be exact). After she finished my polish work, I had another lady who did my marble nail design. She was extremely friendly and gave me her honest opinion as to what would look good, what would last long, and what was in style at the moment. In the past nail salons I've gone to, most of the ladies that work there, don't really engage in conversations but this particular lady was friendly, engaging and empathetic. I appreciated her being straight forward with me, rather than trying to lie her way through just to make more money with nail designs. Overall, the manicure came up to more than what I was expecting, but I was extremely happy with the results & hope they last! If I don't have time or get lazy again, I will definitely come back to visit again. I highly recommend coming here if you want to have the latest nail trends. read more

I saw so many good reviews for this place & wanted to try them out. I called and booked appointments for 12 pm a week in advance. I called the morning of to confirm and asked if it would be possible to come in half an hour earlier. The lady said sure, the earlier the better! So we showed up at 11:30 for our appointments. She said they were behind and to wait 5 minutes. No problem. My friend did not get her manicure until 12:30 pm. I continued to get pushed until 12:45 pm. That's almost an hour after my appointment was originally scheduled and more than an hour after I arrived after being told I could come in early! There seems to be only one lady who does tips and she had two other clients that she was going back and forth with while I was waiting. So unprofessional. My nails were then very rushed and turned out very badly. The shellac was bumpy and the nails were filed very unevenly. The design is nice but not worth the wait and the bumpy shellac ruined it on a few nails. I will not be back. Do not expect them to be on time even if you book an appointment. read more

I've been going to Luxy Nails for a few years now. I was usually really happy with how my nails turned out. But over there past year, I've noticed a big decline in the quality of work and the polish they use. Some manicurists do a great job, while others have recently left me feeling like I could do a better job myself! The past two times I've had a pedicure done, the polish wouldn't seem to dry. When I complained, staff was good enough to redo the polish free of charge the next day. However, another client there at the time told me she had experienced the same issue. Considering this seems to be a recurring problem with their polish, I'm not sure I'll ever be going back. read more

My friend and I called and made an appointment to have our nails done together for a pre new years treat. We were told to come for 2:30pm. Upon arrival the salon was fully booked. We were half greeted by the lady closest to the door and told to pick a colour. At 2:45pm my friend was finally taken over to have her pedicure done. I sat at the front since there was no room for me to sit with my friend. We texted back and forth during the time...at 3:15 my friend said her final coat for her toes was going on and I was still sitting at the front. Finally at 3:20 one of the girls came to tell me she would do my nails(no apology or mention of my wait). I declined since my friends toes were drying. Had I stayed and had my shellac manicure done we wouldn't have been out of the salon until at least 4:30pm. I've done walk-ins for nail salons before and understand when I have to wait, but we called specifically so we would have an appointment and be done on time. The best part is once we were leaving at 3:30 there was NO ONE ELSE In the salon.....why weren't we just told to come at 3:30pm so we could have planned our day better. Great little nail place in the area. Very clean, lovely inside and the ladies who work here are extremely pleasant. It cost around $5 more than the average nail salon, but they take the extra time so it's well worth it. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is I think they could improve colour selection. They didn't have the particular colour I was looking for, but the lady recommended a shade that I was pretty happy with. read more

First nail salon I went to because of their IG. Nails were fine until I went home and noticed they're slightly uneven in length and not perfectly filed. That's my fault for not noticing earlier but I'm sure if I told the lady she would fix it. Perhaps a bit rushed? Other than that, good job. Like Karlee, we also had a bad experience booking in advance. I called Thursday for a Saturday 1pm appointment for pedicures for my friend and I. We arrived early, two "walk ins" were already there waiting. When the lady after five minutes came up to us, we explained we had an appointment. She said "pick your colours" but didn't look at a book or confirm we had even made a reservation. It was clear no one had written it down or cared. The other two walk ins were served first, even though we had made an appointment. We kept being told soon soon - but then 40 minutes went by and it was clear it would be another 15-20 if not more. We finally left after waiting 55 minutes (at 1:45pm) after still not being served. To add to this, I am 8 months pregnant - sitting is not comfortable for me - it was a hot day and no one offered me water - had to go buy one at the convenience store across the street. The facility was not well ventilated and I had to stand outside most of the time to avoid fumes hurting my baby. I thought I would give this place a shot given the good reviews and that it was near my home. I will not be back. read more
