She made great suggestions for what I was looking for, she was quick and gentle on my nails. This place is also very reasonably priced and my nails lasted around 3 weeks (for me that never happens with just a gel manicure) The are usually booked up so you have to book in advance by phone and it's cash only (no apps either). There are a few atms in stores you can go to on the same street but you'll pay a small fee so I recommend just coming with cash. By far the BEST nail salon I have ever been to. As a lady that is saying a lot. I set an appointment to come in and treat myself to mani pedi. I had grown out my normally short nails and wanted to see if I could get them oval shaped with some kind of cool design since I had seen all the beautiful and unique nail art on Instagram. Nancy was so awesome. She talked to me about all kinds of things and made me feel really comfortable. I told her I was new to Philly and she gave me a bunch of great recs to eat and hang out. When I showed hesitance about the length of my nails because I had never had them long, she encouraged me to try something new and if I hated it, she could always cut them off. So glad I listened to her. The results were beautiful. She responded immediately and instructed me to call the salon to set up an appointment and they were actually able to get me in later that day. Street parking is abundant and the salon is easy to find. Nina worked with me and gave me a beautiful gold tiger print French manicure. She was friendly and easy going, very detail oriented. Unfortunately, my gel mani began chipping only a couple days later and I was pretty upset. I reached out to Mimi once again via Yelp! and told her my problem. She told me to come in as soon as I could and she would take care of me herself. Well, I went back yesterday and I couldn't be happier! I have a beautiful half-moon gel mani but that isn't even the best part. Mimi loves her profession -- it's so clear. There owner is so sweet and easy to talk to if I have any questions regarding my service. I came here today for the first time with a friend, and we both are glad to say we found our salon!!! You have to make an appointment and its cash only. The both of us had terrible experiences at another salon two weeks before and Luxxe made us forget all about that with their work. I got a gel manicure ($35) and my friend, a full set of acrylics with regular polish ($25). What impressed me was how meticulous they were and how they really took their time in all the steps of the manicure. Finally, a salon where I don't see polish all over the cuticles at the end result! They were really careful with the general manicure and the application of the polish. They were constantly checking their work and fixing before they moved on. Until your nails look flawless, they won't let you go which is so refreshing to see from a nail salon. You get to scrub your hands with a scrub followed by a nice hot towel over your hands, and finished with a lotion hand massage. Very pampering! Everyone working there were friendly and fun to talk to. The people that were already there when we came in seemed to be loyal long-time customers. Now let me start by saying that I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this warranted it. I had an event coming up on Friday night, so I called the salon on Tuesday morning - no response. I called again later that day - no response. I left a message after the second call. I called two more times the following day, leaving messages both times when my calls weren't answered. I eventually turned to their Facebook in the early afternoon and messaged them to let them know that I hadn't been able to reach them. Again, no response. It is now Thursday and I have called twice this morning and left another message for them. It has now been three days and SEVEN different attempts to contact them and I haven't gotten any response. For a nail salon that only allows appointments, they have terrible communication and response time with their customers. If you are looking to get an appointment, don't expect to anytime soon. I'm not sure how some people were able to get appointments for the same day they called (I can't even figure how they got a response at all). If you're looking for a quick go-to salon, this isn't it. Mimi, Jimmy, Nancy & Kelly have all done my nails and they've always done a great job. I have short natural nails and when I've tried other salons I'm happy if my mani lasts 3 days. Here it's at least 4. Prices are also great. A regular mani/pedi/eyebrows is under $40. I've yet to find superb quality at that price. Also - this is the first salon that's EVER told me I only need a polish change ($7) as opposed to a full manicure ($12). I really appreciated that. I loved this place and the services! I was visiting Philly for the weekend and swung by this place. When I arrived they let me know they were booked, but let me know I could wait in case someone cancels. Well I was able to get services and I loved it! They definitely take their time with you and do an amazing job. I got a mani/pedi with Cristal and it's definitely worth it for the low cost. My feet had been hurting from all the walking and after my pedi I was feeling great. The manicure was sooo great too my hands were so soft after a sugar scrub and lotion. Mimi offered to give me a ride to upenn (I was visiting from Los Angeles and buses weren't running due to the nearby jayz concert). (From sometime in august 2012) Sooo on a trip to PA (from NYC), I decided my pink & white nails weren't worth keeping.. so I went for a soak off ($5) and manicure ($12). Mimi's sister (didn't catch her name) did my nails and she did a great job! She was always gentle and checked in on me time to time if what she was doing wasn't hurting me. My cuticles don't look narly any more, paint job was perfect, shaped nicely, had a few extras I wasn't used to in ny (ie pH balacing prior to base coat, fast dry spray thing at the end, sugar hand scrub). Overall great manicure for super good price. Never had a soak off before but $5 is a steal and I know it. I took a look at the price list.. and ACTUALLY their prices (besides mani/pedI) are better than the cheapest place I've found in Queens, NY (and I look hard). I get away with $15 mani/pedi in NY (hence not being used to manicure extras lmao). I hate giving a nail salons 5 stars, or.. even 4... but this has been deserved for the quality of the job and the experience. Mimi was very nice to recommend some places to eat, chat and get to know us, and showed us to a local place to grab a little to eat before our journey home. I love this place. I was desperate to get my nails done before a wedding so I ran in (without an appointment) and they were able to squeeze me in. Normally when I get my nails done I might just tune out and scroll through my phone, but I genuinely had a really fun time chatting and hanging with not only the girls working but also the other women getting their nails done. I wanted to get my nails done while I was in Philadelphia visiting a friend, I'm from New York and was there for the weekend. I am very picky about manicures from basic cleanliness (Luxxe is immaculate!) to polish application (Luxxe is amazing!) I was so happy with my manicure that now every time I go to Philadelphia I HAVE TO go to Luxxe. Mimi takes such good care of the people who come into the shop, and not only is she great, but also are all the people who work there! My first time I got a perfect gel manicure that lasted a full 3 weeks and had a beautiful beach scene painted on top of two nails. My second time another perfect gel manicure, but this time they hand painted on three different colors of glitter, and again it lasted 3 weeks. I do dishes and wash my hands all the time and it still lasted 3 weeks! I was just there a few weekends ago and Mimi not only took care of me re-shaping my nails with a thin layer of sculpted acrylic, but also made me rhinestone fabulous to the point my friend HAD to put up pictures on facebook! The service is ideal and the work is perfect. Even the vibe in the salon is super chill and makes you feel welcome. This place is a gem!! A few weeks before I had went to Luxxe nails, I went to a salon in Jersey. I had never been more disappointed with the way my nails had turned out for my graduation. I had asked for "coffin" type nails and the nail technician did not even come close to shaping the nail as I had wanted; My index finger ended up with a crooked nail. In search for a new place where I could get exactly what I wanted, I came across Luxxe nails. I requested to have Mimi (the owner) do my nails and WOW....she is AMAZING!!! This place is appointment only so make sure to be on time. I came a few minutes late and it sort of threw off Mimi's schedule which was my fault but she was very accommodating. The atmosphere is nice...it wasn't crowded at all and all the technicians dedicated their time to each and every one of their clients. I showed Mimi a picture of what I wanted (nude almond shaped nails with stones on each ring finger). She refilled and reshaped the acrylic and warned me that my almond shaped will look slightly different than the picture. She superseded and went way beyond my expectation!!! My nails came out way better than the picture!! And to top it all off she used beautiful Swarovski stones and I can't stop looking at how nice they look. Lastly, they're very inexpensive here. I had a girl steph do my nails I feel like their price is over priced I I paid 13 for refill which is fine,but 25 dollars for gel color that's kinda crazy that is like a whole gel manicure . As for the nails it was okay I could of went somewhere else for the same result . The girl shaped my nails made it crooked so I have to come home fix it . I won't be going back . Also the way she polish the gel was thick . I'm a cosmetologist I came out here to do my nails wanted to relax , but came out the shop upset. read more

This place is so disgusting! If I didn't have a gift card, I would have walked right out. First of all, I felt rushed - although I had an appointment, the owner asked a girl if she had time for a "quick gel manicure" before her next appointment, so I felt like I couldn't ask for a design or anything, which is the whole reason my friend got me a gift card to this place. The counters and stations were visibly dirty, there was crusty manicure tools in a cup on the station next to a hot sauce packet and open bottle of soda. The table on the side had Chinese food and sauce out, stacked with junk, the chairs are tattered, everything is dusty, and the washcloths to dry your hands near the sink are stained. I'm not bougie but it doesn't take much to spray some Windex and wipe down the station. It was the fastest, most rushed manicure. I felt uncomfortable because I was so skeeved out, so I guess the fact that it was rushed was a good thing because I did want to get out of there. THEN .. the best part is, two women come in to get their eyebrows waxed and the wax is done in the WAITING area by the front door. SO UNSANITARY! I was so repulsed by this whole experience. Not to mention, I'm not sure what shape this girl was trying to file my nails into, but they're crooked as Donald trump. I'm super disappointed. I can't believe people go to this dirty, disgusting place, and I will not be returning to use the additional money on my gift card; I'd rather pay out of pocket and go to my usual spot. read more
