More importantly, I needed someone who could handle Asian-textured hair, which many barbers struggle with. Enter Kei. He was also open about where my hair needed more growth before making cuts so I knew what areas would still be a challenge afterwards. Bring photos of your cuts you've loved. Kei uses them to dial in your style with precision. The bonus? The setting itself. The place has legitimate old-school character. Highly recommend. Book ahead.

I have a fairly simple understanding of hairstyles and proper hair maintenance. The barber Javin asked me questions about my usual hairstyle and went through suggestions regarding trimming technique. He mentioned my two hair whorls and overall head shape provided some considerations on what he thought would look natural, which I appreciated. In the end, the fade was perfect. Hello, I'm reaching…read moreout to express my disappointment with the service I recently received at Great Matter. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely unsatisfactory, and I believe the work performed was both unprofessional and careless. Before my appointment, I showed the stylist a reference photo clearly demonstrating the specific highlights I wanted. However, the final result looked nothing like what I requested. Instead of carefully placed, defined highlights, the stylist bleached nearly the entire top portion of my hair, leaving me with a completely different look than what I had asked for. What concerns me even more is the lack of attention and care throughout the process. The stylist accidentally got bleach on the outer ends of both of my eyebrows, causing them to become discolored. As well as the whole top portion of my head was basically blonde. Additionally, I was left with uneven patches of bleach toward the back of my head, making the overall result look unfinished and poorly executed. I understand that hairstyling results may vary slightly from reference photos. However, there is a significant difference between a reasonable variation and a service that does not reflect what was requested. The unwanted bleaching of my eyebrows and the uneven application of bleach only add to my concerns about the professionalism and quality of the service I received. I trusted your establishment to provide a professional experience and expected the stylist to exercise proper care, especially when working with strong chemicals such as bleach. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Given the significant difference between what I requested and what I received, along with the careless application of bleach, I am requesting a full refund for the service. I do not believe I should be responsible for paying for a result that was not what I asked for and that I will now have to spend additional time and money correcting. I have photographs documenting the results, including the discoloration of my eyebrows and the uneven bleaching, which I am happy to provide for your review. I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve this matter directly with management and hope that Great Matter will take my concerns seriously. Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response.

I'd been getting the same high fade for a decade and wanted to try the longer wave thing everyone's doing. The first barber I asked for it butchered it, mostly because he'd never done a long cut in his life. Gianni took one look, diagnosed what was actually going on up there, and got me to a halfway cut. A couple months later, the cut grew in as he planned and he took me from 80 to 100%, right in time for my vow renewal. His profile calls him the brushback king and I couldn't agree more. Fair warning: he's meticulous, so plan on real time in the chair. You get what you pay for! Also book ahead. At least a month, in my experience. Gianni's popular and I've never once seen anyone get off the waitlist. The shop itself is worth the trip on its own. Great furniture, plants everywhere, and a back patio you can sit on if you're early or just want to hang. Vibes and the place is always clean. Their systems are top notch too. Plenty of notice before your appointment, everything organized, they offer you a drink when you sit down, and they use good products from the wash through the styling. The host is always so nice, everyone there is personable, and the music's great. One heads up: no parking lot. Street parking can be iffy if you catch a bad day, but there's usually at least one spot within a block. Go see Gianni!

But when he asked me what hair cut I wanted and showed him a picture of a burst fade Mohawk and he proceeded to ask have you had this haircut before. Then I showed him a picture of me with the haircut I wanted (which was a burst fade Mohawk) and he proceeded to say "is that really you". This was at the beginning of the hair cut. Mid way he asked a second time if I had ever had this hair cut before which I answered yes. Also at the beginning he had mentioned how much are we taking off the top. I mentioned just a little bit and we can work our way down. When it came to cutting the top I feel he had gone too low. At that point I just wanted to get out of the chair. I waited 2 days to post this just to see if my hair needed to settle in since I went from a wild lions mane to what ever this short hair cut I have now. But no matter how much I attempt to style my hair it just looks dumb. My feedback to Hin is if you aren't confident in cutting someone's hair then please just say so. Or if your specialty is clean cuts then tell your client so they can make the decision of sitting in the chair. I may come back to try with someone else to cut my hair since I feel the people here have some skill.

A bit off the top and a high skin fade. Having had hundreds of haircuts done in the past I knew something was off. No neck strip, loose cape. I got so much hair under my shirt. Once the barber alleged the haircut was complete I got to take a look at it and saw the complete mess I already knew was happening. Lopsided fade lines. I wouldn't even call them fade lines. It was like looking at a border crossing. It did not blend at all. I asked that he correct it and went back to doing the exact thing he was doing before. So, I saw screw it. I had him just shave my entire hair off. There was no point on continuing to try. Over an hour for a simple cut just to end up having to shave off all of my hair. Worst haircut experience of my entire adult life. Never had to entirely shave my hair. Then still get charged $45 for something I didn't screw up. My recommendation? Stay away. Look elsewhere.
