I also typically color my hair at home once a month, but a friend recommended Madison Reed so I decided to try them. They took me as a "walk in" but even without an appointment, the staff took a lot of time to help me choose the right hair color and I chose a combination of two colors. The whole process was also very easy. They mixed my color, set me up and 35 minutes later, washed the color out while providing a nice head massage! I'm very pleased with the results.

I was having a lazy Sunday and as I was scrolling instagram an ad about this company popped up. I…read moredecided to give it a try. I do a basic all around color and I just need my grays covered. Something that most hair salons were not able to 100% achieve in the past. As I walked into the salon I was confused. There was no one to greet you and instead was a large screen. A stylist came and offered me a seat. She took a picture of my hair, asked me a couple questions and then she took me over to the large screen and showed me the color she was going to achieve. She proceeded to mix the ingredients according to the apps direction. She applied the color, told me how many minutes I had to stay with the solution and never came back. lol When the time was up, another person came and asked me to walk to the sink station so she can wash my hair. The shampoos smelled great. Then she showed me the self service for the blowouts. My initial stylist never came to check up on me, or even see if the color matched the initial consultation and the salon was definitely not busy. There was no one to check you out either. I used the iPad by myself and paid for the service. I am not sure if I would trust this place for highlights, but for an easy overall color application and grey coverage it's not a bad idea. I don't think I would pay full price for this service however. I would only go back with a discount.

I would give Dreia 4.5 stars. Her prices are fair and her work was superb! I was so happy with how my makeup turned out, and received a ton of compliments. Other members of the bride and groom's family loved her make-up so much they asked her to do it even though they hadn't scheduled appointments. Dreia was so gracious to stick around longer than planned and did even more work. I highly suggest booking her if you need make-up for an event, wedding etc. Why the .5 off then? Well she did show up a few minutes late and we were on a tight schedule. She also had a helper and I would have liked to know in advance because some of the members in the bridal party didn't appreciate it. But overall she is very professional and does great work!

And now I can say: Finally a place in Montclair where my curls can thrive! Tricia, the owner, was extremely accommodating and kind giving me several options. I am a new mom to two with a tight schedule. My stylist Gennifer took great care-- explaining what she was doing and teaching me along the way. She gave helpful tips for some wild knots I explained I had been having (post partum hair is a struggle). She did a special moisturizing treatment and my hair is so soft from the treatment she did. You can tell she knows what she's doing, has great experience, and is up to date on her knowledge. She is also Rëzo trained! I had the best experience with Gennifer. Another note- the salon itself is relaxing and beautifully decorated. It has clothes that I wish I had the time to try on after my cut! I can guarantee you I'll be back for a cut and to check out the clothing items. Love the service, ambiance, and the end result of my hair. Thank you Haus of Highlights team!!

But when it came to the blowout, I warned him that my hair didn't hold curls very well, and sure enough, my curls fell out less than an hour later. I was forced to try to incompetently recurl it myself and looked terrible for the wedding I attended that day. What gave me a very bad taste in my mouth was that I specifically asked Flor how much my haircut and blowout would cost before we started ($80), but on paying, she tried to charge me $10 more than quoted. She said she didn't know my hair was so thick, though she literally had a chance to gauge this in person before we started. What's the point of giving a quote if you don't stick by it?

Victoria and her team are amazing! All of the communications from pricing, trials, to information…read morefor day of was very seamless and they were very responsive. Plus the prices are extremely reasonable for high quality work. And they did not have an easy task at hand. I needed hair and makeup for myself + 9 BM + MOB makeup + MOG makeup, with a start time of 6 AM and a finish time of 9:30 AM. And they delivered! First, for the trial - I wanted to time this at the same time as my engagement shoot. Risky, I know - in case it didn't turn out how I imagined but luckily, it did. I had to move it a couple times due to Covid or other scheduling reasons but they were very accommodating/flexible. It was just one less thing to be stressed out about. By the time I had my trial, I had already booked my date in them way in advance, so this wasn't an issue for me. On the day of the wedding, I was a little late to the venue because of car issues (of course that would happen to me the day of my wedding), so I probably got there at around 6:15, and the team was already finishing setting everything up. Linda did my hair, and Norma did my makeup. Denise and Gloria were the other two hair/MUA for the BMs. Both my hair and makeup held up, well after the wedding was over. For my hair, I wanted Hollywood-esque waves, and Linda pretty much nailed it. It looked exactly like the picture I showed her. My makeup was great too, though I wasn't as picky with the makeup as I was with the hair - I just wanted something wedding natural but not too muted, and with a hint of a fall look (if you are a bride, you will understand exactly what I'm talking about lol). I'm so glad I found MMUAV, and definitely recommend them for anyone still looking!
