My friend hosted an event here. This venue is perfectly sized for mid sized events. There are tables (rounds of ten) chairs, cushions, chair slip covers (for an additional charge)a couple of cocktail tables with wraps, table clothes ($10 per table) large specialty white chair with matching foot stool, food service area, ice machine, ice/beverage containers, lighting, beverage refrigerator, counter space and service table. The bathroom is clean and modern. You are responsible for bringing your own decorations or hiring a professional, thank goodness the host is an excellent decorator! The place is well kept. For a four hour event, two hours prep time is provided. I thought it was reasonably priced at $800. This does not include tax, security deposit, etc. The reason I am giving them three stars is: 1) The owner reneged on verbal commitments that three individuals heard, myself included. Get everything in writing! One example, He claimed he made a mistake in stating tablecloths were included in the price, only to back peddle and say, he meant to say they are only included in evening events; 2) The owner was misleading in his presentation of the place (there is a floor to ceiling screen available and music was playing). We assumed that there was a sound system available. However, if you don't have a DJ he did not advised that you need your own wifi and usb & microphone; 3) The owner while negotiating a deal seemed pleasant enough, albeit lacking in professionalism which was displayed in his delivery and tone when he thought a seat cushion was missing. The cushion had been moved by a guest who was using it on a chair in the food service area. It was found yet the owner did not bother the apologize; and 4) Parking is limited. While there is a parking garage across the street that the owner recommended, the parking spaces had dedicated signs from other stores in the area advising that non customers will be towed. Prior to day of event: We booked this venue for a baby shower and had a terrible experience from the beginning to the very end. We were already very skeptical of hosting the shower in Mount Vernon but due to the attractive affordable pricing of the event space it seemed to make sense to trade in the sketchy location for the low cost of it. Had we known we would have paid double the price and did it in another location. We originally went to do an initial walkthrough on Dec 15, 2018. And met with a lady by the name of Sanya. We discussed the date options and went over the available dates. We selected the date of Feb 10, 2019, for their brunch period hours of 12pm -5pm for the price of $850. We also discussed the option of adding an hour or 2 to extend the event with would be at additional cost, which we was quoted $200 a hour. We received a text message from Sanya the following day asking if we have made a decision regarding the 2/10 date and deposit being required. We informed her yes we want the 2/10 date and we would be sending in the deposit shortly. Sanya then proceeded to ask us about another date and if that would work for us because someone else came in and was inquiring about that same date. We informed her no we would like that date and will send the deposit today to reserve. Sanya then further coerced us to possibly choose another date because they "wanted to be accommodating to everyone". We were not sure how that was accommodating us if we asked for 2/10, it was available and we were sending in the deposit. We requested for the contract to be sent so the deposit can be sent which she agreed but then after we received a call from another gentleman whose name was Jeff, explaining further how they would rather us change the date because the people who are also looking into booking the venue wanted to do a series of events there. I am a business person myself and I understood how they would rather book a venue that would be repeated business over a one time booking. We then after realizing how hard pressed they were for us to move the date, we finally agreed to move the day out of consideration for them. We signed the contract to have the event the day prior. We sent Sanya a message that we were still trying to figure out if we was going to do 1 or 2 additional hours. We didn't receive a response from her for over a week which then she replied stating that we weren't able to get any additional hours due to another event being booked. Which now we regretted not sticking with the 2/10 and possibly getting the additional hours needed. First, I will start by saying the venue is nice, I really wanted my event to be seamless as I wanted to use this place again. However, that will not be the case. I will not be supporting this establishment nor will I recommended anyone book it. We booked this place in advance for a time slot of 1pm-6pm on a Sunday, we were made aware due to the pandemic there was not another event booked for that day so we could have ours event during these time ( "as a favor"). When the time came for our event and we collaborated with Jeff regarding decorations. He advised us that the decorator could not come in before 1pm to decorate. And that if the decorator wanted to come in early the decorator should pay the fee of $ 200 extra per hour needed. So, essentially the decorator should be paying $200 per hour to decorate? (Who says this, smh). We were told that decoration time is part of the rental hours so if decorator needed time it should come out of our time. Furthermore, the venue tells you that you rent the place until 6pm however from 5-6pm the "cleaning crew" (Jeff & security) comes in and wants to turn off the music, they turn up the lights AND go table by table trying to throw things out. My guest were so upset, one guest had her to go food thrown away in 1 second. I was so embarrassed, my guest were so confused. We were singing happy birthday and he was throwing things out with no right. So let me recap the timeline, rented placed from 1-6pm from 1-3 decorator decorates (depending on what your decoration going to be), party from 3-5, cleaning from 5-6. This makes no sense for the amount of money you pay for this place. Beware what you getting into!!! My guest were forced out in the rain because the venue was being cleaned. I had elderly guess waiting to be picked up and standing outside in the rain with walkers because we needed to be out. Mind you there WAS NOT another event booked after us this day. This was not nice, all Jeff worries about is how to make money and recover from what he lost during the pandemic. When you ask him for something he will hit you with the line, "let me sleep on it and you can call me back tomorrow". He supervises what goes on in the venue during your time. Jeff, we rent the venue; not you! So please fall back!! Security that he tells you is included in the price is not for your venue it's for him. He uses Security to tell you what he should tell you. Rude and Unprofessional!!! The owner us a west Indian guy who refused to give his name,and hung up on me after getting loud and unprofessional. He would not tell me any rates without visiting the venue, and I explained that I live out of state, and trying to plan a repass and memorial for my grandmother. I also explained that its hard to get back and forth due to covid restrictions, and you'd think they would be empathetic, but he was a rude jerk. He said that he only books ppl that live in the area because they have no problem coming in to the venue. When I asked for his name, he refused to tell me, then hung up. Jeff the owner is a terrible person to do business with. He didn't want to allow my event planner 1 hour early access to set up for my event. He was noticeably hovering over my guests and made people feel very uncomfortable. He was complaining about turning a/c up to high and said not to let my guests use too much water. If you have any other options to choose besides this one I suggest you go that route. For the price he requires you'd expect a far greater quality of service and professionalism. read more

The venue is beautiful and spacious however the owner Jeff is so disrespectful and rude! He does not know how to speak to people or be professional. Everything was an additional fee. Set up time is not included in your package so be mindful of that. My event started at 7PM and he did not turn the AC on until then, although we started setting up at 5PM. You pay a cleaning fee but he made one of my family members take out the recyclables out of the garbage. YES SHE WENT THROUGH THE GARBAGE. It's a party! Not everyone will recycle! As an owner, he confronted several matters in a nasty unpleasant tone. Will not recommend this venue to anyone simply because of his attitude. Sad because many people asked about the venue including my Uber driver and I said it's a nice place, the owner is just rude. His wife Sanya was friendly when we went to check the place out but of course once u give the deposit the tunes change. SMH read more

The place and nice and spacious however the owner doesnt clearly state everything that comes along with the venue. I personally thing its ridiculous that I'm already paying for the place and it doesn't include time for my event planner to set up. I had to pay an additional 2 hours which was $400 just for that, had I know prior to reserving the date I definitely would have went somewhere else. The place had only silver chairs which didn't go with my theme for the party and request clear chair which they just ordered and tried to charge me additional money, so wait you want me to pay for something that should come with the place. I decided not to pay extra and have my event planner bring in her clear chairs. On top of that at the last minute, probably a few days before they notified me that I would have to provide ICE. Are you kidding me?! If you don't mind dealing with an event space that charging for every little thing then this is the place for you otherwise BEWARE of the owner and the additional items that's not included which is basically everything, come on how you going to charge me extra to use the chairs and ICE. Shame on you!!!! I felt as though they try to scam people out of their money.
