I usually go to Dion, who is amazing, but today I had a different technician and they were just as wonderful. This is by far the dirtiest nail salon in SM. I have witnessed the rudest workers to customers. I have watched the workers inflate prices if they feel the slightest inconvenience. They do not care about customers or thier complaints because no matter what happens ppl keep coming back. I have found a nail tech who does a pretty good job but will not fix crooked nails that she glued on. They will not honor your request if they feel it isnt worth thier time. I was wrong two other people before her were called and by that time she decided she no longer wanted to have her nails done, which is completely understandable as it had been an hour. I'm really disappointed to be writing this, especially after my mom has been a loyal customer here for almost 7 months. Unfortunately, she recently developed a fungal infection under several fingernails--and this is the ONLY salon she's been to during that entire time! We have photos of the infection, and it's clear something went wrong with the hygiene or tools being used. It's upsetting, especially after trusting this place for so long. She now has to deal with a painful and frustrating situation that could have been avoided with proper sanitation! I hope the salon takes this seriously and reviews their cleanliness protocols. I am a regular customer at Lux Nails in Santa Maria and have always had a wonderful experience, but on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, I had the most rude and unprofessional nail lady named Ashley. She got mad at me because I didn't think the colors she picked out didn't match the colors I showed her in a picture. I was trying to explain the colors to her when she said "have someone else do your nails" and walked away, then went to do a pedicure on another customer leaving me sitting there. This place is located in the heart of all the necessary stores/shops in our small town. Parking is decent , shop is clean and open. Van did a decent job with my gel manicure as I was crunched on time already, he made up for it by being fast and efficient all while doing a good mani. However, do not bother making an appointment. I had an appt for 9am and I arrived at 859 as I had waited in my car and 4 other people were already inside getting their nails done. Understaffed with techs, hours printed on door states opens at 9am. I've had my pedicure done here by one of the male techs , it did not seem relaxing as he spoke almsot the entire time. My toe nails still needed to be fixed the day after. Great location , mediocre work for gel pedi and mani. Reasons I do not recommend Lux Nails: 1. Rude staff 2. It feels like they don't practice good sanitation (many items are reused on client after client without obvious replacement or sanitation of tools. 3. They cut my fingers while removing cuticles. Once is understandable, but multiple times is not ok and without apology. I went there with my girlfriends and we all left extremely unhappy and with cuts on our fingers (I wish I was exaggerating). The staff were not friendly at all. And for the prices they charge, you'd expect more quality and skill. For me, the person who did my gel-x very clearly does not have the proper training and skill to be applying it. I've used Apres brand many times with my previous nail tech and my finger nails have never looked like freaking banana boats. And I still had cuticle hanging off my fingers, paint on my fingers, and damage to my skin that happened because they were careless while filing. I gave this place a total of THREE tries. I should have never returned after the first time. I thought that maybe having a different tech would change things, however nothing changed. Each and every single tech was absolutely rude, pushy, and all of them just seemed like they hated their job. The very last tech I saw was probably the worst one of them all. I repeatedly asked her to show me the jelly colors and never did, instead she made me chose between the three colors she was showing me. Very talented nail techs in there and a brand new clean and beautiful shop! I've gone three times over the past two months. First time I received dipping powder nails, they were clean and pretty - 50$ Next time went for pedi it was busy and my two other friends were started on first I wait maybe 15min until lady came over and she just started hacking away I had to tell her "ouch" too rough. She calmed down a little then stranded me mid way and another girl Chloe finished who was so sweet and did very well. I finished at the same time as my two other friends and paid the same as them... so I didn't receive as detailed/good service. -40$ Last time I went got a fill I called they said come right in (like it was empty) but it was packed by the time I arrived so waited a bit to sit down. The fill was nice the design turned out nicely. One of the gals offered everyone waiting a glass of champagne (not me?) I guess because I was sitting idk still grabbed a water and left- 50$ Few days later one of the nails with design was chipping and leaking polish ? Gel never happened before. I wish I would have checked Yelp before I gave LUX another try. I would have seen they haven't taken any of our complaints seriously. The salon is dirty. They are rude and pushy. The services are sub par and they do not value the work they do. I paid for a deluxe pedicure and the lady that put the callous remover on my feet rubbed it on, didn't even let it sit to do its job, then half-assed scrubbed it off. My pedicure at best took 20 minutes. That's deluxe?? When I was getting my manicure I saw her grab the cuticle clippers out of her filthy,disorganized basket and start using it on my hands. Clearly not sanitized. I brought my 9 year old daughter with me. She was choosing her colors and the lady was chastising her for the color, then basically told me she was doing gel. I snapped on her. I am generally very kind and patient, but she was completely out of line. I wish people would boycott this place. They are clearly greedy and we just keeping feeding them. Maybe then they would hold themselves accountable for all of the reviews you see here. And this is just people that are complaining publicly... You pay for a service and you should receive that service when you pay. ALSO windex is to clean glass, not pedicure chairs. Gross. Sweep your floors, clean your space, ALL OF IT. Went in for two pedicures and acrylics for my daughter's senior homecoming. Opted for the deluxe pedi because I really wanted a nice massage. Nothing about it was deluxe. Water was cool, only one tech working on both of us and the massage was basically rubbing oil on my legs for two seconds while she disappeared multiple times only to return looking at her phone. Worried about how bad the pedi was, my daughter still wanted nails as she had been there before and loved the end results. Whoever did ours today BUTCHERED her fingers. I have never seen such a botched job. She filed the top and base of the nails so much that her cuticle skin was pushed up and looked like she put her hand in a garbage disposal. She was too embarrassed to say anything and just wanted to leave but I asked the very polite lady at the front desk if she thought it was normal. She looked appalled when she looked at my daughter's fingers and the owner overheard me. She came over and also looked like she was embarrassed. She offered to try to fix it. I said ok if it won't hurt her as she was going to have to cut my daughter's skin even more to remove the mess. Imagine a blister once it's peeling, that is how each finger tip looked at the cuticle. I really wish I would've taken a photo. I appreciate that the owner wanted to try to make it right and gave me a small discount but it was pretty horrific. They have some really talented techs in there, too. But some advice to the owner, get rid of techs like that. And clean your business. It was filthy and quite the disappointment. read more

I sat in a pedicure chair for 30 min before any nail tech started my pedicure -- that was after I called ahead and made an appointment. The gel on my nails started peeling less than a week after I got my nails done. I paid almost $100 for a gel mani and pedi and honestly it was not worth it. Another tip: the nail techs definitely talk trash about you (it was a dead giveaway when 3 of the 4 ladies conversing all looked at me at the same time).
