Discovered this gem of a shop recently. A good rotation of quality products and friendly staff.

Great deals, super friendly staff, and the kind of finds that make you say "okay I only came in for one thing" . The racks are organized, prices are fair, and there's always something random and cool waiting to be discovered. Dangerous in the best way if you love thrifting. I have been exploring thrift stores in OC and recently came to Lutheran High Thrift Store. The selection here was okay, prices were way too high tho on certain items. Used crafts and art supplies were the same price as buying new at target or Michaels. There are two locations right next to each other one has clothing, home furnishings, games, books the other has furniture and patio furniture. The furniture store has well priced items in line with what you expect at a thrift store. Plus they have discounts available depending on the color of the day. Staff was all helpful and very nice. read more

This is one of my go to for thrifting, it's been affordable on most things I've purchased. I usually mind my own business and love to just look and shop. As for Cons: Sometimes there's things that are overpriced for being a used, especially the crafts selection. I haven't had a real bad experience with the staff just one of the elderly lady seemed pushy and rude but it was just that one time. I think this place is great overall and I highly recommend. read more

The OLU Thrift Store is amazing it has everything from housewares to board games. I love this place and frequent it often.

I experienced sticker shock in a good way at this store. Most clothing items were $1-5, with some of the more upscale brands ranging a bit more. Nothing unreasonable. They had housewares and electronics that were also fairly priced. Shoe selection was small, but what was there was in pretty decent shape. The kids toys and games section were fantastic. I didn't get a good look at the jewelry, but it was clearly very popular, with many customers huddled around it. This absolutely reminded me of the thrifts I grew up with. Albeit I was there on a clothing sale day, I walked out spending less than $20 (three outfits for me, 1 for my kid, and a cable I needed but kept forgetting to order for my printer) which would have easily been $60+ at most thrifts in the area. This is definitely going to be a regular stop for me. read more

This review isnt for the store itself. I love this place for the finds and prices! The staff has gone downhill. I understand they volunteer their time but lets not forget they are there for themselves. They are there because they are getting discounts so their kids can attend OLU School. They are NOT there to help the community and care about people. Especially the older ladies. They are always shopping while they are working. Which I guess doesnt matter technically not like they are getting paid anyway. But whats right is right. The other day I was looking at a handbag and notice another customer looking at something behing the counter. The customer asked to purchase something so they gave her a laundry clip or card which they do to hold her item in the front. I witnessed one of the workers look to see what she wanted. They ended up eyeballing the item and asked the other worker to place it in the back for her! Well thats nice of her! So when the customer came up to purchase her item it was gone. This is the second time this is happened. Just the day before I was in the store this SAME lady who said place it in the back for me ( who i am going to assume wanted the item for herself) was filling up a paper bag) of items from the store from shopping while working. She happens to be an asian. She does this all the time while I am there. Trying on clothes asking the workers what looks good on her and stuffs all kinds of items behind the back counter for herself. Which is fine I guess if shes volunteering. But like I said whats right is right. Be a good human and do the right thing! Dont eye ball other customers items and take them for yourself! read more

I come to this thrift store several times a year and find it to be one of the best in the area. It is medium sized store, well stocked with housewares, clothing, a children's section, jewelry and a separate building next door for furniture. The prices are better than Salvation Army or other "chain" thrift stores, which is what I like best. Workers are friendly and very willing to help you find what you need and to give you a hand if needed, out to the car. read more

One of my favorite thrift stores ! i usually go in here to look around but i'm surprisingly able to leave with a lot! i've been going here for years however recently i've seen a price increase in "vintage" items for retail price. i used to go here for its cheap items and would be able to find a lot however i find myself leaving with only two or three things. the ladies who work here are a hit or miss sometimes. they can either be very kind or look at you weirdly. read more

I rarely review places... but I'm an avid thrifter and this is by far my favorite shop in Orange. There's a previous reviewer who left one star and mentioned the staff being rude... they could not be further from the truth. I come regularly here to get some solo time while my MIL watches my kids and I've had such good, heart-filled conversations with several of the ladies at the shop. WOW! I love this place. The workers are so sweet and helpful, and there is such a wide selection of items and sizes to choose from. My only complaint is the prices of what they deem to be "higher end" items. It seems they do not pay close to attention to condition and how the style may be a difficult sell; they see a designer label and slap some high price on it. Decided to give this place another shot, ( my last review was about them pricing an item too high, but this takes the cake) one of the men that works there told another volunteer to put a "sold stickers on items he wanted to take it , obviously they go through the items and put aside what they want/ hold items for one another ect, Instead of shopping when they're aren't volunteering. There are plenty of shelters you can donate to and for linens and extra towels you can take those to animals shelters as they can use them too! read more

I absolutely love this place. Quality merchandise, great prices, fantastic selection and a very friendly and helpful staff. The volunteers are amazing, dedicated and unselfishly donate many hours each week to keep this store clean, organized and stocked with new treasures. There are daily and monthly specials, which I appreciate. Also, their Instagram account is super creative-oluthriftshop. I spent over an hour and well over $100 inside this thrift shop over the weekend while visiting Orange County. They had tons of great clothing, mostly name brand, in terrific condition, and really fair pricing. I can't believe the deals I got on shorts, jeans, shoes, and a couple of adorable dresses. The employees were very sweet and friendly, and I enjoyed looking at the toys, books, home goods, and jewelry as well! read more

What a gem! There are so many things to look at here that I'm definitely going to need to make several trips back. There is a little bit of everything and the majority of the items are well priced. It is a big place so even though there was a good amount of shoppers it did not feel too crowded, plenty of room for social distancing. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Used to be a great thrift but succumbing to the antique mall and/or eBay search pricing strategy. We were in the store today and saw some cool (but nothing special) mid century glassware priced at $5/ea that we recently donated here. FIVE DOLLARS EACH! Uh... we paid .50/ea for these glasses, at this thrift store, only a couple years ago. WTF? I think we're going to start donating elsewhere now. We've been giving a lot of cool stuff back to this shop for years because we were finding lots of cool stuff there at reasonable prices. That just doesn't seem to be the case anymore. read more

I committed the high crime of entering their sacred premises, opening their unlocked main door, at 4:03. They close at 4. I never went beyond the immediate doorframe. The clock-watching barnyard hens almost SHOUTED at me, barked, really, "we're closed". Disappointed, as I'm not local, I continued to scan the walls for a few seconds too long for their tastes, not saying anything. When I didn't react fast enough, they shouted AGAIN, in unison, "we're closed". I said, "I'm not deaf, I heard you!". Then one of the hens said, "well, then close the door" or something similar. Wow. Even if they're non-paid volunteers, which is to be admired, obviously, there is absolutely no excuse for this kind of rudeness. These women REALLY wanted to leave! The Man Upstairs sees all. Maybe they'll lose their lease when it comes up for renewal. It's called Karma. Cluck-cluck!!! read more

I was so excited to finally be able to come here and check it out. I was disappointed that within 5 minutes, two of the employees were making it very uncomfortable for me and kept asking questions about my service dog. For a Christian organization they didn't portray much grace or kindness. It almost made me feel harassed that they didn't believe me for having a mental disability and didn't seem to understand what a psychiatric service dog is. I kept getting rudely questioned, they kept asking what service she performs for me and I didn't feel comfortable explaining my severe panic disorder but when I finally had to share- she replied "I don't think that's under the ADA." (Which it is, you can look it up!) I got asked three times by the same two people if she was a service animal when she clearly was wearing her vest and license tags, standing quietly near me on duty. They mentioned they "need to keep everyone safe because they don't want someone bit" when she is a ten pound, quiet and calm as can be poodle. I take her everywhere over the last almost 7 years since I trained her with a private trainer. I even fly with her to multiple states with all of her documentation and she helps/changes my life so much. When you have a service animal, you obviously make sure they are acting like one. Or yes, employees can ask you to leave if they aren't performing like one. My service dog was performing exactly like she was supposed to, and was also helping my mother by being there, with her separate mental disorder. I am posting this only to make the employees hopefully more aware of the guidelines of ADA and CDPA. I am glad I have a disability that can be manageable but i can tell you it gave me more panic to be there; that was unfair and uncomfortable. And it makes me sad that people who are less open or feel insecure about their physical or mental disabilities, would be subject to that treatment.. this a time in the world that is necessary to spread more love, awareness and peace. thank you read more

Such a bad experience with the old lady who was the cashier. One of my items weren't priced. She replied curtly that she couldn't sell it. I asked if maybe someone can come and price it and she said she's not allowed to do so.. ". instead of arguing over it. I just let it go. Thought maybe she was just a grumpy old lady. But then she was super friendly to the customer she helped after me. Doesn't seem very "Christ-like", nor a good representation of Orange Lutheran. First and last time I'll be coming here. I'm also bummed I just donated a bunch of things in the back before coming into the store. read more
