This place did not disappoint. Our order consisted of a tomato soup which was smooth and balanced (not too sweet or too acidic), a peameal N brie sandwich which had maple sauted apples - it was served over a French toast bread which in itself was super delicious, the bacon in the toast was crunchy and savoury, A vegetable quiche which was cheesy and wholesome because of the vegetables A chocolate dessert which was rich and crunchy. I will highly recommend this place if you are around Belleville.

Spectacular breakfast and some of the best customer service ever. Loved the servers and thoroughly enjoyed the food. (And I am sorely sorry to those who had different experiences!) I came to learn recently that Birdy's has come under new ownership within the last year or so. As such, the menu has changed and the quality of the food has more certainly dropped. We used to go there pretty often for special occasions. Birthdays, meetings, etc. Before, the menu boasted variety and class in Belleville that could not top other restaurants. Yet in dining here again in June, 2024, I am sad to say that they have eradicated a good majority of their menu for "basic" and mundane pallets. My spouse and I used to go for their vegan options which surpassed most other places we've tried, yet were surprised to find that the stroganoff we often eat was no longer there. Half the vegan menu was erased. Instead replaced by the simplest and cheapest of curries and another dish. Two options. Two, compared to the four-five that were given before. Also very curious to claim it as a vegan dish when the kitchen nor the new owners have read the packaging on the pita bread that accompanied it. (It was not Vegan so if vegans are eating here, please beware!!) The portions were also a bit small for the extravagant prices. It was one of our favourites and I hope to see return to what it was prior to the ownership change, but it is clear that the new owners are less inclined to think about quality and more inclined to think about the profit it generates. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

Cute crepe place across the street from The Royal, in a heritage building. There is only paid street parking in the immediate area. It wasn't busy during my visit, but a handful of people (locals?) did drop by to pick up some crepes. There are a couple of tables inside, but more tables out front with patio umbrellas. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and food. I ordered the El Taco. Menu consisted of BOTH Sweet & Savoury crepes and there is some international influence in some of the savoury crepes like Butter Chicken, Enchilada, El Taco, etc. Flavour of the crepe I ordered was on-point. Great 'cause it wasn't stuffed, but nicely satisfied. Owner seemed really sweet, asked how the crepes were, and even came out to collect dishes before we had a chance to take them in.

Are they ever! We arrived around lunchtime and were served almost immediately. We decided to share a couple of subs, The Sunny-Lea ("turkey, stuffing, cranberries, cheese") and The 1830 ("AAA wood-fired beef, caramelized onions, and caremelized onion cheese"). They were ready a few minutes later, so we took our food out to an available bench and began eating. These are some seriously terrific subs. I started with the 1830 and it pretty much blew me away right from the first bite. The super tender (and plentiful) meat is enhanced by the other components, and honestly I'd be happy eating that sandwich every day for the rest of my life. The Sunny-Lea fares just as well and really does taste like Thanksgiving in sandwich form. Really, really phenomenal. I wish that Farmer's Daughter Sub Shoppe weren't so far away, but at least now I have a reliable stop to make any time I head out in that direction.

I recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment. We were early for our reservation and the hostess was able to give us a table. There are 2 dining rooms with different themes. The front room has a beautiful bar beside the open air kitchen. The dining area has a nice bright rustic ambiance. Definitely, a great place for date night. The rear dining room has a lounge feel. The light is dimmed and tables have candlelights. There's nice lounge music playing here as well. Now for the food. The menu is divided into 3 sections: Tapas del bar - small dishes to share and sample some curated Spanish delicacies. Grande provides a selection of main course entrees. Paella is a Valencian rice dish that is great for sharing and served on a large cast iron skillet. We ordered the jamon croquetas. The croquetas were served with pickles and garlic aioli. They are delicate and packed with flavor. The second tapas we ordered was the Albacore tuna served with bulgur cracker. The dish was esthetically pleasing and we really enjoying the green liquid sauce. Very impressive dish. For our main we decided to share the seafood paella which consisted of Argentina red shrimps, organic salmon, and mussels. The rice was flavorful and we love the crispy rice on the bottom of the skillet. This dish checked all the boxes in flavor, presentation, and texture. We finished our meal with the grand finale: Spanish Churro. This is not your regular churro. This was shaped like a cinamon bun and you have two delightful dipping sauces - dolce de leche and dark chocolate. This was by far the best churro I've ever had. Overall, the experience was exceptional and I recommend this place if yoi are looking to try some elevated Spanish cuisine. The server was attentive and provided advice on how to eat each dish. The prices are on the higher-end so plan on spending about $50-$75 per person.
