Tim and the guys at Luscious Landscaping have been mowing our lawns for over a year, and they've done landscaping work around our house. They have really made it beautiful. I needed work in the middle of spring (the busy season for landscapers) for a small 10 minute lawn irrigation job. I originally was told 3 weeks -- fair enough, I was the one who procrastinated. The next day, lo and behold I see the owners son across the street on another job. I asked if he could look at it and come back another day and he busted this thing out on his lunch break. That one deed will get me to call them the next time I need a landscaper and also recommend them to anyone who needs a landscaper. This business does not keep its word. They may be good at what they do- i wouldnt know because they did not come through and do my job even though Jason came to my home twice, and agreed to do an irrigation job. He strung me along for over a year, never answered my calls and finally had an employee send an email REPLY to indicate "he "cannot help" -that was it- with no apology, no explanation, and no referral ... just he cannot help- how cowardly and absolutely unprofessional. Rather surprising and shameful to go back on your word when you own a second generation family business. After stringing me along over a year he finally gave me referral - but that would have been professional months ago not after stringing a customer along for a year. read more

I have also tried to contact them by email and a cell phone # given when they did work for me last year. I was hoping that they would come and redo (for a second time) the repairs since all 3 gaits they repaired last year have all failed (again). read more

Luscious Landscaping is a multigenerational family landscape and gardening business that has been making Humboldt County homes beautiful for four generations. Run now by Jay and Theresa Simmons and their 5 sons, they have the knowledge, skills, experience, and work ethic that make them a homeowner's dream. They are licensed with the Contractor's State Licensing Board, insured, and use all of their own equipment. They stay busy throughout the year by word of mouth business, but after the long search I did to find them, I felt like I should give other hopeful homemakers/gardeners a helpful leg-up by letting everyone know about this gem of a landscaping business! They are personable and professional, and it's a pleasure to see a large family work together with such camaraderie. Jay runs a smooth operation with careful personal supervision. This team works hard and fast, and they do the job right. Attention to detail! I admit I tend to be very particular so I try to give clear instructions, and Jay is a good listener and was very responsive to my specific requests for the handling of everything about the job they did for us. We are so relieved! We have a landscaper and gardener for life! lol We feel lucky to have found them to help us extensively renovate our landscaping for our house in McKinleyville. Jay Simmons of Luscious Landscaping is an artist with dirt. His company has fully landscaped two homes for me now. When I called to ask them to do our current home, they told me Jay had retired. When they came to look at the property, who should appear but Jay, the owner, with his son Jason, who was taking over the business. It turned out that Jay was very ill, possibly terminal, but he did the design. The other company wanted $39,000. Jay came in at $13,000 with a better design. He supervised the job frequently, even though he was seriously ill. Some of the photos of my yard were up on his website, and a few remain there even the business is now personally closed. My church, which has a beautiful garden, sometimes asked Jay to help with the garden upkeep, and the church received a "Beautify Eureka" award. I am so sorry that their business is now permanently closed. You are missing out on something wonderful because they're gone now. Miss you, Jay. read more
