Lupe's Mexican Eatery has a surprisingly fulfilling array of appetizers, plates, and drinks, though the main draw for me are their stuffed and voluminous burritos. I've tried several of the burritos here for their size, flavour, and variety of ingredients, most memorably the Lupe's, Hot Cheetos, California and birria burritos. The Lupe's is stacked with steak and bacon, grilled onion and cilantro, jack cheddar cheese and Chipotle sauce AND guac, so you'll love it as the mash of distinct savoury flavours it is if you love each of those ingredients. It's filling and fills you with both strength and fatigue to prep for or recover from a day of hard work. 5.7/10. Hot Cheetos burritos are something you occasionally see around for some reason, and the one's here are solid, though I prefer the version available at Primo's by a solid margin. Lupe's Cheeto's burritos do have an interesting compressive texture that I strangely somewhat enjoy. 4.4/10. The California burrito is a standard and very solid rendition of a classic. I would put the Lupe's version at above average in quality as they're definitely not mediocre or disappointing. 5.3/10. The birria burrito is just as packed and filling as the other burritos, but tastes and feels significantly more fresh as it consists of a juicy but light birria steak, red beans, and LOTS of chopped cilantro and diced onions. In fact, it primarily tastes of the leafy green, so definitely avoid it if you're not a fan. I enjoy it, though it definitely feels lighter and less satisfying to eat than its less healthy, heavier siblings, and suffers from its birria juices settling at the bottom of the burrito to be largely untasted throughout the eating experience, possibly as there isn't enough of it provided. 4/10. This spot also has a good salsa bar with particularly tasty sauces. My favorites are the classic verde and another, pale green sauce with a creamy flavour, both of which go well with all meals to varying effect. I like how the tortilla chips feel a bit cakey- it's slightly hard to describe, but they're not excessively salty either and fun to eat as a receptacle for the delicious sauces here. A solid spot with a nice, comfortable and fun, kitsch decorated interior, solid burritos and a solid selection of menu items at fairly standard prices. read more

This spot is so close to my house that I'm a little disappointed I haven't been taking advantage of it being here. Love how easy their online order system is, and service is always great here. The burritos are nice and big, and they aren't shy with the proteins which is nice. Lots of seating inside and outside if you wanted to dine in. They also have a little salsa bar as well. The only thing this salsa bar is missing is cilantro/onion, but that's just me. Definitely my new go-to for when I'm craving Mexican food close to home! read more

The salsa bar was a bit limited with 3 salsas and one more in a ketchup bottle which I assume was the really spicy one. The cilantro creamy salsa was really creamy and delicious, I couldn't stop eating it with my chips. The burrito is huge and stuffed with all kinds of items like steak, shrimp, fries. Every bite was amazing with the plump shrimp and juicy steak but I felt like the burrito was 70% fries. The fries were delicious but was hoping to get more shrimp or steak in my bites. The birria taco was delicious but could have been juicier and more tender. Overall still really good and a great price! read more

This place has my heart! The food here is absolutely delicious and the portion sizes are very respectable. So far I have tried the California burrito, surf and turf burrito and the spicy shrimp tacos. All have been absolutely incredible and I keep coming back for more. I've ordered from here many times for my kids but this is the first time that I tried their food myself. I ordered a birria burrito with NO ONIONS. The first bite tasted really good, but second bite tasted like rotting trash. I opened up the burrito and there was a pile of onions in my burrito. Lupe's is located inside a plaza with many other casual restaurants. Parking is easy to find. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside of the store. We ordered the grilled fish tacos online for to-go pick up. The food was done relatively fast and it was an easy process to pick it up from the counter. There's also a salsa station where you can fill up sauce cups with different types of salsas. The tacos were good and fresh, but I think I prefer to get their order protein offerings. My favorite would have to be the al pastor. Overall, Lupe's is a quick and convenient spot to satisfy your Mexican food cravings. read more

Ah! Lupe's was a great stop on the way to my appointment. One of the few restaurants on Bake Pkway within miles. This review is strictly for the California burrito. I often like to leave reviews when California Burritos have all the key ingredients: the steak, the fries, THE GUAC, the sour cream!! It's a basic sized burrito with a higher price, but it's soo good. If you're thinking of coming you should. If their burritos are good I bet the rest of the menu is as well. I wasn't impressed... The food was mediocre. Granted, I did change the carne asada burrito to no pico de gallo to cilantro and onion but the burrito had so much refried beans in it. The service was okay, they just take your order and you hear your name. The ambiance is okay, it's a smaller place inside but they have patio seating. They have a salsa bar that I was excited for but only had like 3 salsas and they didn't taste good. They honestly tasted like they came from a a jar. I've been going to Lupe's and ordering from them for several years now, and I'm almost always very happy with the food. However, my most recent order was disappointing because the guacamole was missing from my chips and guac order. Also, over the past year or so, I've noticed that the quesadillas no longer come with the sides they used to, such as pico de gallo and guacamole, and now only include a small portion of sour cream. Lupe's is one of our go to spots for burritos and tacos. Their food portions have always been generous. We have our normal items and they continue to not disappointment. Whenever we run into any order issues, they are always willing to help us resolve them. Unfortunately they updated their online ordering mechanism recently and removed a lot of their customization capabilities and some of their purchasable items. With these changes, we could no longer use their online ordering system to put in orders and instead we now need to call in our orders which is more inconvenient. Please bring back your previous online ordering capabilities. read more

I feel bad leaving this review because my order is 100% my fault. I got the Hot Cheeto burrito with steak and I wasn't even inebriated. My complaint is, there was MAYBE a sparse sprinkling of steak inside the tortilla, and about 89% soggy Cheetos. I expected a least some other filling but no. Just soggy Cheetos. Love Lupe's usually but kinda bummed today I was missing the salsa for my burrito and they changed the hashbrowns to a small amount of tater tots. This a bit more expensive Mexican franchise, but you be the judge on the price. Personally, i enjoy their shrimp burritos ~$16 as they do not skimp on the shrimp. It is large pieces and not chopped up like other places to disguise how little shrimp they use. We are so lucky to have a Lupe's close by. We used to drive over to DP which isn't bad, but the space there is even smaller for the fast food side. The wait can get quite long at the DP location too. You can do pickup or dine-in at the LF location. It's not a fancy place but there's some seating inside and a little at the outdoor patio. A soda fountain and salsa bar is available for self serve. They also serve a couple agua Frescas I think such as horchata, and some Mexican sodas in the bottles. Staff are friendly, the place is clean, and there is sufficient parking in the plaza. Before I forget, you can sign up for their frequent flyer program and collect points for every dollar you spend. Just sign up online or in the Toast app. What we get: -Shrimp ceviche with tostada - so delicious and a must have. -California. Burrito - has fries, guac, carne asada. This is delicious and hits the spot if you also wanted to eat some fries. -surf & turf tacos and burritos - one of our absolute favorites. This is a must order for us every time we visit. -Beer battered fish tacos & burritos - also another must have. AL PASTOR TACO ($4.25) - the al pastor was good but personally I thought it wasn't worth the price, especially if you're comparing it to taco shops closer to the $1-$2 range. 3/5 CALIFORNIA BURRITO ($15.50) - I've heard that Lupe's California burrito was one of the best in OC so I wanted to try it out. I really liked it and my only wish was that it was bigger. 4.5/5 LUPES N' CALI BURRITO ($15.50) - this was like a surf n turf burrito with a California burrito twist with the fries. I liked the shrimp but I preferred the actually California burrito more. 4/5 AL PASTOR FRIES ($16.50) - similar to the taco, I liked the al pastor and the crispiness of the fries but I wish they would've filled up the food to the top of the box. 4/5 The burritos had solid flavors but they were not as big as other burritos I've had in the area. The service was great and there were four sauces at their salsa bar which were all good. Let me be clear by saying this 5-star rating is EXCLUSIVELY for the two front staff ladies, Alitzel / Alicia and Maritza. They are the ONLY reason we continue to come back every single week despite our growing frustration with this location. If I were rating the restaurant itself, it would be 2 stars at best. The food is average compared to their competitors, yet prices keep climbing while portion sizes shrink. The kitchen staff consistently make mistakes with our orders and, instead of taking responsibility, they argue with the front staff, only to realize later they were wrong. It's unprofessional and disappointing to see, especially when it's directed toward the very people holding this place together. Alitzel / Alicia and Maritza, on the other hand, are exceptional employees. They know our order by heart, always double-check before handing us our food, and go out of their way to make things right, even when it's not their fault. Their professionalism, kindness, and reliability are unmatched compared to their colleagues. They are the face and backbone of this location. If they ever left, we would stop coming entirely, that's how much of a difference they make here. read more
