I got married back in November and have been putting off this review, but then I also had a few girlfriends who had the same experience, so I wanted to share my experience so that people could avoid getting into the same situation. I originally booked with Shonna for makeup and Emmalee for hair. About a month before the wedding, they told me that the owner, Tina, wanted to do both my hair & make up. Because she was the owner, I was like wow what an honor! But boy was I wrong. I wish I would've stayed with Shonna and Emmalee. I met both of them at my trial and they seemed so sweet and I knew that I would've been more taken care of with them. Tina basically did whatever SHE wanted to do. She completely disregarded what I wanted as a bride. At my trial, I felt like my makeup was very dark and wanted more of a glowy look. After the trial, I was very specific about what I wanted and told her what I did and didn't like. I mean, that's what the trial is all about right? However, she continued to ignore what I wanted and just did what she wanted to do. For example, I specifically told her no eyeliner. But she did eyeliner anyway and said it was because it looked better. But it's not her wedding so that was really crazy to me lol. Another thing that was really irritating was that I gave the team instructions on where to park. The self parking was very close to my hotel room. But Tina decided to do valet for herself. Valet at this hotel particularly very expensive, so that was very unfair of her to do since it was charged to my room. She said it was because she was running late but showed up the same time as everyone else My bridesmaids & mom were also very unhappy with Tina because she came off very rude and pushy. The other girls on the team however were lovely and very kind and we were very appreciative of that. Overall, I gave this review 4 stars because the communication was wonderful and I do appreciate everyone else on the team, including the coordinator who helped to arrange everything and was my main point of communication. My experience with the owner was just very unfortunate but luckily it was just with the makeup. My hair was great & stayed all day so I wish I would've just had her for my hair but it's okay. The Luong Lasting Team are our fairy godmothers. I wanted to work with artists that are familiar with Asian features which is why I went with Luong Lasting. I had a trial with Shonna (makeup) and Michelle (hair). I showed them examples of what I wanted to do and they even gave me different options to test out. Michelle even advised me on which hair extensions I should get that would look best with my hair type and what I wanted to achieve. Coincidentally, the day of my trial was on a rainy day so I figured if my makeup and hair could last in the rain, then it'll be fine on my wedding day. Spoiler alert - it lasted. It's been 5 months since my wedding day and it's taken me a while to finally write this review because of how much I hated how I looked on my wedding day. It makes me want to cry every time I think about it and it sucks because my wedding photos all remind me of the horrible experience I had working with Kim Luong and Sandra on my big day. I hired them for hair and makeup for me, my sister, and just makeup service for my mom (she wears hijab so didn't need her hair done). I live in the Bay Area and hired this company without a trial because the days I was back in OC to wedding plan, they were unavailable for trials (due to weekends being booked for weddings, which I understood). I communicated with their team what I wanted, I sent inspiration photos, explained that I have long thick hair, and that I absolutely needed to be done with HMU by 12pm. Their comms person assured me that beginning at 9am would be fine to complete 3 people, that they'd be done by 12 no problem. BOY WAS SHE WRONG. They did not finish until 1pm which means my whole schedule was pushed back an hour. Kim and Sandra rushed out the door before I could put on my dress and ask them to do a touch up before I had to leave. Everything was rushed and in the frenzy, I forgot my bouquet at home when leaving for the venue which was 1.5 hours away. They didn't care that they went over and I still needed help, or that I wasn't happy with how my hair looked, or how my face didn't have a strong contour like I requested, or a smokey eye, like I requested. Sandra basically did the exact same brown soft glam look on all 3 of us. It was a copy and paste. Kim was a whole other story - she was inappropriate, loud, and completely full of herself. She kept talking about how she was "so happy to be single" and how she's soooo happy she's divorced and living her ho life (in front of my mom who's very conservative/religious). It was uncomfortable to hear her talk about herself... like the entire time. She was saying how she didn't need this job, she makes sooooo much money working for PG&E, she dates millionaires only but she's not interested... I mean it was so bizarre. She also kept telling me that she took a $500 course on how to make hair last for 7 days. I asked for soft hollywood glam waves and I received short, tight, hollywood waves that did not match any of the photos I showed her. I have very long hair up to my bum and bought 24 inch extensions, so I have no idea how she made my hair go up to my shoulders. I absolutely cannot and will never recommend this company to any friends or family of mine - they did not deliver in quality or experience. I am sad to have given them my money and my business on my big day because it sickens me to think about how absolutely gross these women made me feel on my wedding day. Maybe the other artists are great, but I would never ever want to be stuck in a room with Kim ever again, and Sandra's makeup is not worth what I paid. Original wedding date was in 2020, but it was pushed back until 2022 and Luong Lasting was so understanding and patient until I had a new date. There were multiple date changes for the past two years. When I finally celebrated my day, Luong Lasting ladies were so professional. They arrived on time and were quick to get started. I was not able to do a trial with her since I'm from the east coast but what she did for our wedding make up was I had a specific makeup request and she did a light version of it first and allowed me to ask for how I wanted my makeup after. When I browsed Luong Lasting's Instagram page, I fell in love at first sight. I loved the golden glow everyone had. Everyone's makeup looked flawless. The hairstyles were super cute. I wanted more glam than "natural." From start to finish, they were so pleasant to work with. They were flexible when I had to postpone my wedding, and super organized. During my trial, the owner, Tina did my hair and makeup. She listened to everything I asked for and executed so well. She started off with lighter "natural" makeup... then gradually built up the drama based on what I wanted - darker eyes, thicker lashes - whatever the look you want, they can do it. I liked that they use airbrush makeup and Tina matched my skin tone so perfectly. I felt so glam and my skin looked flawless. On my wedding day, they sent a team of 3 to do hair and makeup for 8 people including myself. Tina worked on my hair and makeup solely, Sandra did makeup, and I unfortunately can't remember her name, but 3rd girl did hair. They were so timely and efficient, rotating everyone one after another -- we finished ahead of schedule. Really impressed by this operation. I could not be happier about my experience with Luong Lasting as my make up team for my wedding. My wedding was in Mammoth Lakes, so I had to find a vendor willing to travel the ~5 hours from LA to get there. The travel fee is hefty (it is, across the board for any vendor), but it was so easy to work with Luong Lasting to make it happen. It was a risk because I had to go with a vendor without doing a trial, but the risk paid off. This was the 5th time I've gotten my hair & make up professionally done (across different events or as a bridesmaid), and I can confidently say that Luong Lasting did the best job across all. And not just for me as the bride, also for my bridesmaids. My bridesmaids even said they liked their make up better than they did for their own wedding! They were able to do anything across the spectrum, from natural to full on glam for both hair and make up - I saw it all across my friends. I love that they used airbrushing... the make up really did stay on ALL NIGHT! And I also loved that they really knew what they were doing across all ages (from my 7YO flower girl to my older parents). This review is long overdue. I gave it a lot of time to see if I'd feel the same way later & didn't want to post a review based on emotions at the time. I had my ceremony on a Saturday and my reception on Sunday. I hired a different artist on Saturday. Tina did my HMU on Sunday. A few things that disappointed me when she did my hair & makeup was : 1) She didn't show up early enough. She was only responsible for my h&mu and we finished at the very last minute, I was actually late to get to my venue. We did not have a chance to fix one thing I didn't like about my makeup (my eyebrows) since we were late. What is the point of giving a "ready by time" if the artist isn't going to stick to it? 2) She did NOT review notes from my trial with her. Although it was advertised that the makeup artist would take notes at the trial. When we did the trial, I only had two requests. To part my hair with the part on the right side and that I HATE big dark eyebrows. I only wanted to define eyebrows as natural as possible. Two very simple requests that don't require anything special. Of course on the day of the reception, she made my eyebrows dark and fat. They were so ugly in my opinion and the shape was not nice at all. She didn't have a mirror with her so I had no way of seeing this until the very end. Then when I asked for it to be fixed, it was not easily fixable bc of the product used (water resistant). We would've had to take them off completely and I was already running late, since I had to get to the venue. I figured, ok it probably isn't that bad as I think bc I honestly wanted to trust her professional judgment and skills. However, I can't help but feel disappointed and upset every time I see my wedding pictures. These pictures are forever & lifetime, and they're ruined by how I feel about my eyebrows and my weird hair part (it was weird bc she tried to fix it at the end but it was also too late). So in these pics included in this post, I wanted to show how my hmu artist the day before, listened to me and gave me the naturally defined brows I asked for. They followed my natural shape and I really loved how soft and natural they looked. The other two pictures are the big fat dark caterpillar eyebrows Tina gave me, which I had specifically requested to avoid. Overall, I think Tina is very skilled and good at what she does. She did a great job with my eyeshadow at least. She did very good hmu for my friends for their weddings. I just feel like I had a different experience with her bc she failed me in particular & I was especially disappointed bc I feel like she's done amazing work on other people. I just wished she cared more and had better intentions when it came to doing h&mu for me. So my advice to anyone interested in booking is.... It's your special day. You're likely paying ALOT for video and photography. These things are forever & you won't get a do-over. Make your h&mu requests known and check to make sure you and the artists are on the same page from the trial to the real day. Don't assume they remember your requests. Ask for a mirror to see the progress while things are being done so they can be corrected on the spot. This is my third experience with Luong Lasting and let me tell you, they don't disappoint. This time, I had the pleasure of getting my hair and make up done by Emmalee. I had such an amazing experience with Emmalee and was extremely happy with my final look. I didn't think my makeup and hair look like the way it did for over 10+ hrs. I honestly could get over my makeup and how flawless the base looked that I had to slide into the DMs and ask her how she did it. We booked them for 9 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and me (the bride). First of all, theyre an amazing team, 2 make up artists and 2 hairstylists. My bridal party and moms felt so beautiful, probably the most beautiful they have ever been. They came on time, even through the unexpected storm at downtown LA. Everyone worked fast and efficient as well and finished on time on our timeline 6am-11am. I paid for parking for 4 of the workers and I appreciate that they didn't park on the $50 vallet at the hotel even though I'd pay for it. They found cheaper parking and I only paid about $20 for all 4 separate cars. All the hair stylists were so easy to talk to as well. I had my make up trial a month prior to my wedding as well. I'm so glad I did a make up trial bc I was able to analyze what looked best on me. Also, melody gave me her number to text her if I wanted to change anything. They finished my hair and make up within a hour and half. I completely switched it up on my wedding day, which was stressful mentally but Melody and I forgot the hair stylist name, were spot on at everything I switched up to make me feel beautiful on my wedding day. We hired Luong Lasting for my wedding back in May 2021. We originally had them booked for our April 2020 wedding but we had to postpone due to COVID. They were very understanding of the postponement and accommodated our date change quite easily. I fell in love with their work browsing their Instagram account. I was further amazed during my bridal trial, which I scheduled on the day of my engagement shoot. I loved every look they put together. I was not intending to do an updo but it was done so beautifully that I ended up choosing the updo for my wedding day. Personally, this didn't work out for me due to my sensitive skin. The makeup artists/hair stylists aren't familiar with clients that have sensitive, problematic skin. My skin has been calm from fungal acne breakouts, since I've been very careful, but after my appointment in September 2021 with this team, I had minor breakouts on my face and major hair loss. I didn't know that hair spray would be sprayed onto my scalp because I've never done that. Til this day, my scalp has not recovered and am still losing handfuls of hair after each wash. The team are really friendly, but they didn't give me the results I wanted with hair and makeup. I didn't want to waste anymore time trying to have them fix it because I was a bridesmaid of nine. So if you like Korean-style hair and makeup, and if you have problematic skin, this is not the team for you. read more

5 Stars well deserved for the very incredibly talented Sandra who did my make up for a themed photo shoot yesterday morning. I had contacted Luong Lasting a few weeks ago to inquire about getting my make up done (just make up, which cost $85) for July 25. One of the owners emailed me back to let me know that they would be available to do my makeup at 5:30 am. After I had explained what I was looking for and stressed the importance of needing to be done by 6:30 am, she suggested that I come at 5 am. On these yelp photos and on Luong Lasting's business website, I only saw photos of beautiful brides and their bridesmaids and Asian girls modeling in front of cars in suggestive poses (both of which I clearly was not looking for). So I asked if Luong Lasting could provide me some sampled photos of what the make artist she had in mind for me. She provided me a link to see some of Sandra's work, which I was impressed and pleased with what I saw. Shortly after that, I went forward and booked an appointment for July 25. Yesterday morning, I ended up arriving earlier to the make up studio than anticipated and so Sandra told me we can go ahead and get started earlier. She was so friendly and I enjoyed my conversation with her. She checked in with me at every step to make sure I was happy with the look she was creating for me. I brought a photo of what I wanted for my eyes and left the rest of my face to her, which was bright blue eye shadow with cute little blue bows near my eyebrow. Because this took quite a long time, she was only able to have enough time to put one blue bow near my right eyebrow. I told her I was fine with just one bow (I thought my look still looked quite cute with one bow). I also told her that if we do not have time to finish my face, I would be okay with just false lashes and no color on my lips (just to let you know, I am really a plain Jane, as I rarely wear make up). She moved quickly as the time got closer to 6:30 am, as she really wanted to make sure that I had my false lashes, blush and color on lips. Even in her quick pace, my face looked flawless. I was ready for my photo shoot. I was in my car driving away at 6:35 am. Sandra is a really nice relaxed person. She is extremely talented and I would not hesitate to contact Luong Lasting in the future and request for Sandra. By the way, the make up studio is located in a business area, specifically inside a little business office with the name KROPS (the sign only has the KROPS name and not Luong Lasting's company name). This review is based on Luong Lasting's unfair, unreasonable and unethical business practices during the Covid19/coronavirus pandemic. My wedding was scheduled for March 28, 2020. 2-3 weeks before the wedding, California's governor banned group events of my wedding's size, and the US Government declared a national emergency. That was an unforeseeable event that forced my wedding to cancel. I was devastated, and begged and pleaded with my vendors to refund deposits for work that they had not done (to be done on wedding day). Nearly all vendors understood this unprecedented event means they should return money for services that they had not performed. Luong Lasting refused to refund the money. They had not done any work, yet they refused to refund the money. They had the audacity to downplay the coronavirus, and suggest that I was voluntarily canceling and that no one else has reason to. Anyone who reads this review has lived through the coronavirus and understands the impact it has on us. As a bride who has planned my wedding for a year, I was devastated that my wedding was forced to cancel because the government required us to. I hoped that vendors would be fair and sympathetic. Luong Lasting was not. They kept money for work that they had not done. In nearly all contracts, the coronavirus pandemic would be an exception to the general understanding that a vendor can keep your deposit. This was a National Emergency/Global Pandemic. My wedding canceled not because we voluntarily did it, but because we were forced to. Luong Lasting will make you pay in cash/bank transfer, unlike most other vendors. This is so they can keep in your money, in all circumstances, even if they cancel on you, or they go bankrupt. I suggest that you play it smart and go with a hair/makeup group that is honorable. read more

I have worked with Luong Lasting multiple times and have been really happy with the results each time. I first researched and found their beautiful photos online when I was preparing for my wedding. I was assigned Lyly for my wedding, and I am so lucky to have had her. I first did a trial with Lyly and also used the makeup for my engagement shoot. It was my first time ever getting professional makeup and honestly I didn't really know how to communicate what I wanted. I still looked good for my engagement shoot but it didn't exactly feel like "me." I later realized the difference was in the eyebrows, something that's very dependent on personal preference. I booked a second trial with Lyly, who spent a lot of time with me to discuss the look I wanted. She was incredibly patient and she knocked it out of the park. I definitely recommend that all brides get a trial because even the most talented artist needs to understand your unique face and what you want. I am so glad I was able to work with Lyly. On the day of my wedding, Lyly again spent a lot of time making sure I was happy with each component of the makeup. It was perfect and the most beautiful I have ever felt in my whole life. I felt confident and happy for my big day thanks to her. The pictures turned out amazing. Also my hair was the best I have ever had in my life. I have frustratingly difficult hair and pretty much normally always walk around with a bad hair day. I am lucky to have a lot of hair, but it also happens to be fine and straight, easily tangled up, and I can never get it to look right on my own. It's normally flat because of how heavy the mop on my head is. But I envisioned a lot of volume and movement and somehow Lyly worked her magic to create lots of voluminous curls on my straight Asian hair. The curls held well for photos throughout the night! I looked amazing. In fact, my hair looked so amazing that my entire bridal party and I completely forgot to put on my veil (oops) for the ceremony but at least I had the best hair ever and we took pics afterwards in the veil. Luong Lasting is a little bit pricier than some other options, but 100 percent worth it for important events. I have also been able to work with other Luong Lasting artists for other events when Lyly was not available, and all of their hair/makeup artists are fantastic，professional, and skilled. I looked great for a pre-wedding boudoir shoot and a movie premiere. The consistency across the whole company is there. Recently, I was thrilled to get to work with Lyly again for my maternity photo shoot. Pregnancy is a time when women can feel bloated and not at our prettiest with all the physical changes, but thanks to Lyly I was able to maximize how I looked and got some lovely pics. I will continue to trust Luong Lasting for future important life events where I want to make sure I look my very best. Only small downside -- they are in demand and very busy, so sometimes when booking (only done over email) , you may not get the speediest responses. You need to allow time to coordinate dates. It may take multiple days so be patient and try not to freak out.But again, overall it is so worth it and I have been a very satisfied client of Luong Lasting. read more

Well what can I say about Tina and her team that I hadn't said before. They do phenomenal work and nothing can attest to that more than my bridesmaids and all the guests that had to stare at them for hours during our wedding. Now my girls are individually picky in their own way with regard to how they want their make up and hair done. We've been in each other's weddings, and we've have to correct the work done by the hired make up artist. At some point, we just opted to do our own. This time, my girls and I were putting our trust in Tina and crew. She showed up to our hotel timely, I mean seriously, I was in the restroom doing my morning business when she texted me they were there already. It was 7AM, right on schedule. I woke up all the girls who were still zonked out from partying the night before. Tina and crew set up while the girls were rubbing the sleep out of their eyes. Shortly after, they got started with the bridesmaids. I gave my girls the freedom to pick whatever hair and make up they wanted, based off their own preferences. I wanted them to feel comfortable and beautiful all day. Luong Lasting handled their requests and numerous changes without fail. Tina made me feel like I was glowing and beautiful, ready to be seen by the guy that has to unfortunately get stuck with me forever. So as the kids nowadays say, eyebrows on fleek. Everyone told me how wonderful the girls looked and who I used for hair/mu. Our looks stayed all day and I even had to make a conscious effort to remove it at the end of the night. Tina also was able to cover up some ink on my shoulder blades so well that you couldn't even tell I had any there. First, I recommend doing a hair and makeup trial to see if you like it. I booked a hair & makeup trial to play with ideas of how I would like my look to be. The quality of the makeup is amazing and they use a silicone base spray on makeup that is waterproof/resistant in case you cry. Then, the makeup artist walked me through what she recommended for my eye color palette and lip color. I LOVED it! They walked me through everything and they were so involved. I am so impressed by the emailing manager in terms of communication. This team is on top of it! I always get a quick response and communication is super important when it comes to wedding planning. High level of professionalism and always on time! This team will give 200% and be at your wedding site as early as they need to be. It is not an easy job because it is continuous hands on labor and they did amazing. (Because of that, I made sure not to forget to tip them generously). Overall, their prices are fair and affordable especially with their high quality makeup! Another important point is EXPERIENCE! They know what they are doing and have done hundreds of weddings (if not more). It makes me feel confident that they will do a great job at my wedding and they did! I wanted a special look with fresh flowers in my hair. My hair artist went above and beyond and communicated with me what would work best for incorporating floral designs and that allowed me to work together my florist in providing those flowers. I had the privilege to work with a talented artist who have done a broad spectrum of hair and makeup for editorial, wedding, runway and more. (Please excuse me, I had wedding PTSD because I was so sad everything was over) I had the pleasure of working with Kim Luong and the Luong Lasting Team for my makeup trial and my wedding day (September 2019). From the start, Luong Lasting was very professional and easy to work with. Communication was impeccable. What I truly appreciated was how quick they answered my emails and had clear pricing. During my wedding planning process, I had reached out to several makeup artists well known to Orange County (in which I will not name any names). They either 1. Never got back to me or 2. Took a super long time to get back to me then said they were already booked. Finding a makeup/hair artist for your wedding day is as important as securing your venue. I mean, that's how you're literally going to look in all your pictures and video so it better be done to perfection! And perfection was what Luong Lasting truly strived for. During my bridal trial, I had come to their studio right after they had a team training day. I had thought, "Wow, that's intense! They have a whole entire day where they train beautiful to perfect their signature look?" I'm so glad that they did that though because it truly shows in each and every single artist. My mom and bridesmaid had the other artists on my wedding day and I had Kim exclusively to myself. My mom was complimenting the other artists so much saying that she thought her makeup looked great and all the bridesmaid looked amazing. And mind you, my mother is a very picky glam Viet mom lol. Something else that I should note regardless of the communication and service is the quality of their makeup products. I've had a lot of makeup artists solely use MAC or cheaper brands, yet charge the same if not more than Luong Lasting. That truly bugs me. Your wedding day is such a long day, you want your makeup to stay but also not cake up your face or cause you to break out. Kim used high quality products on me that allowed my makeup to stay all day without the caked up look on my skin. Attached are the pictures to show how amazing Kim was! Oh my goodness! So happy with my services at luong lasting for my wedding day! When I was price shopping, luong lasting is pretty competitively priced amongst other places. I had a trial done with Tina and she did a great job with my makeup! My hair wasn't the best (during the trial) but it's because we wanted to try the hollywood wave first, but I didn't like it, and then it was hard to switch it up. BUT thats what a trial is for!! On the day of, all the girls and Tina came at 6am promptly to do all our hair and makeup. All my bridesmaid liked the hair and makeup! And my mom as well! Tina did my hair and makeup and it turned out great. She also knew when I wanted something "more" so she would add more to my smokey eye or highlighter, etc. The hair also turned out great (despite my fail with the trial) and it was exactly what I wanted!! Luong lasting is a little on the 'heavier' side of makeup, which I personally liked as a bride. However, some of my bridesmaid wanted a more natural look, and I love that luong lasting was also able to nail a more natural, less make-up look for them! Overall, super happy with my makeup vendor, and I absolutely adore Tina, she's so funny and relatable. I feel like we've been long lost friends forever. I've been recommending them to all my friends that have recently got engaged, so I hope I get to see them again soon! read more

I cannot begin to describe how much I love Luong Lasting! Everything about Tina and her team was absolutely wonderful. I found them on Instagram and really liked that they had a large portfolio of Asian women. It helped a lot to see what they were capable of, especially with darker tones of hair. I needed hair and makeup services for myself, my 6 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, 1 grandmother, and 2 relatives; a total of 12 people! You can imagine my worry with the cost, but to my surprise Luong Lasting came back to me with a very reasonable quote! I couldn't believe it - I booked them immediately, knowing that their schedule would be filled quickly. My main artist was Tina. Not only is she professional, sweet, super chill - she's also a BOSS (well, THE boss) and extremely talented. She did my hair and makeup for both my engagement shoot and wedding day, and let me just say - this woman is a master of BROWS. She was very patient with me and let me know what styles would work with my dress and face shape. She made me feel SO special on my wedding day - going with Luong Lasting was definitely one of the best decisions I've made. The team she came with was also talented and super sweet! All my bridesmaids and relatives loved them and guess what - they finished all 12 people EARLIER THAN SCHEDULED! They started at 8am and finished by everyone BEFORE 1pm. Freaking. Amazing! Had my hair and make up done for my special day by Tina! I don't really wear heavy make up but Tina assured me it will look good in pics and she was right! My make up lasted all day. I had her do my hair and make up for my engagement shoot and I loved that as well. She's very funny and bubbly, great personality.
