Tuesday evenings! This is more like a huge party or festival than a regular farmers market. If you…read morelove live music and people watching, it's perfect. There is fresh fruit and veggies, and food vendors selling things like corn dogs and fresh bread. It seems as if all the locals converge to the square for this weekly event. It was very crowded and during COVID, there wasn't much distancing or mask wearing going on. And I'm sure not all of these folks are vaccinated. Bathrooms available but as usual the ladies room had a long line formed outside. A jazz band played on the main stage and people crowded in to listen and dance around. We saw lots of drinking and making out, but nothing sketchy. Lots of families with kids running around. Overall, a fun way to spend your evening if you love a lively environment and aren't worried about the delta variant/Covid. But if you just want to buy veggies and fresh goods, I suggest coming very early on, getting your goods and get out before they begin wildin' out.

As a local, it's one of our favorite activities. As a tourist, I recommend planning your trip around this amazing wine country Tuesday event.

Good thing Sonoma Market is known for their sandwiches and deli and fresh prepared meals. You'll find a really fun selection of local cheeses, condiments, produce, and baked goods that bigger grocery stores don't carry. You'll spend a little more, but the shopping experience is more curated and atmospheric, and the products speak for themselves. I stopped in recently while on a short trip to Sonoma, specifically for salsa, some kind of dip or spread for crackers, and a cheese or two. I spent awhile browsing because that's the best part, and left with exactly what I needed (proud and amazed I stuck to my budget haha). I bought a fantastic bleu cheese, brie, a cantina style salsa, and this whipped, layered, tomato-basil dip made of ground almonds, avocado, sour cream, tomatoes, and herbs. Kind of a lot going on, but it was so good. It's always fun to see what you'll find here. Like a locally made gluten free apple pie, the perfect bouquet of flowers, or a freshly baked loaf of sourdough.

The store could sell so much more food than it does, they have no idea. But people want quality food at the hot bar not what they have there now. Overall, the store is pretty good but they're hot food display is an absolute embarrassment for the store. It's always old picked over food or just empty. If you come in here at five 5 o'clock or after, it's always a disgusting display. Very sad to see.

They have a few places that sell beer and wine. I don't recall seeing any hard liquor. They typically have live music. People bring wagons full of food and drinks, chairs, blankets etc and they camp out for a few hours just enjoying the music and being outside. You can bring your own picnic or you can buy everything there. They are not checking coolers so bring a bottle of wine! Parking is along the street, no designated lot. I heard there are bathrooms for public use in a building on the north west side of the park. This is great people watching and an easy way to have a snack and relax. We had dinner reservations already. Otherwise we would have eaten at one of the delicious food trucks. It's totally free. I believe it's from 4-7.

Paul's Farm Stand has always interested me as I constantly run by it on my weekend runs. Its first…read moreopening day was July 9th this year so I figure why not go check out an organic local farm stand. I arrived around 10ish as it is only open from 9AM-1PM and it was jam packed which is a always a good sign. Parking was quite simple, find a space and squeeze in, no lines to guide the challenged rookie drivers. Immediately noticed a wide variety of vegetables and some fruit that was in season and some not. Regardless it all looked very fresh and delicious (Some of the best vege's I've seen in awhile). Now some of the oddball veggies and fruit were tad bit expensive, but it is not local to this area so I can understand. The more popular veggies and fruit were on par or slightly pricier than your chain grocery stores. Now let's take a minute and ponder why one would buy old non enticing veggies and fruit from a major chain and not consider supporting a local farmer and get some organic, fair priced, delicious food? It was a no brainer, I ended up stocking up on carrots, giant onions, romaine lettuce, spicy peppers, cauliflower, and some melons. First time in awhile where I was super excited to get home and whip up a delicious meal. Now I find myself wondering if I can devour all of this in time for next Saturday's opening, yep I'm officially sold. Stop by if you have time on a Saturday, it would be well worth your time.
