Bathrooms available but as usual the ladies room had a long line formed outside. A jazz band played on the main stage and people crowded in to listen and dance around. We saw lots of drinking and making out, but nothing sketchy. Lots of families with kids running around. Overall, a fun way to spend your evening if you love a lively environment and aren't worried about the delta variant/Covid. But if you just want to buy veggies and fresh goods, I suggest coming very early on, getting your goods and get out before they begin wildin' out.

People bring wagons full of food and drinks, chairs, blankets etc and they camp out for a few hours just enjoying the music and being outside. You can bring your own picnic or you can buy everything there. They are not checking coolers so bring a bottle of wine! Parking is along the street, no designated lot. I heard there are bathrooms for public use in a building on the north west side of the park. This is great people watching and an easy way to have a snack and relax. I found out that the stand is cash only and I was out so she offered to just have me take it home and pay later. But since I was heading out of town I went to an ATM. Five stars aren't enough…read more. By pure luck, my husband and I stumbled upon the Zucchini Races a few weeks ago at the Tuesday night Farmer's Market. It's exactly what it sounds like: people make little cars out of homegrown zucchini and race them, four in a heat, down a curved, four lane ramp, in the middle of Sonoma Plaza. The cars are gorgeous: hand-painted, decorated with flowers and toys, etc.. What seems like the whole town shows up with picnics, bottles of wine and blankets to watch the races. It is fabulous.

It's more crowded with rude people, it's dirty, the air is smoky from all the fried food & BBQ booths, and it's generally an unpleasant experience. I'm a local and I don't kvetch about this Sonoma summertime weekly diversion, even though finding street parking slot can be a hassle.

I started receiving a weekly share from Lunita Farm last summer and I've never tasted better carrots. Throughout the season, I also got really tasty tomatoes, eggplants, padrone peppers, figs, melons, and beets, to name a few. In the winter, we get every kind of leafy green imaginable, as well as a turnips, winter squash, and storage onions. This spring has so far yielded a beautiful crop of fava beans (a new favorite of mine) and some amazing strawberries. Yum! Each share is packed with a wonderful variety of delicious veggies (some familiar, some new) and a news letter with updates from the farm, a recipe, and instructions on how to prepare some of the less common produce. Everything is grown organically here in Sonoma, although the farm is not certified organic. As I've said, this is some of the best produce I've ever tasted, and it's obvious that the vegetables are tended to with care. Plus, it's a wonderful challenge to cook with whatever is in the share each week, and it's fun to see the contents of the share (and my menus) change with the seasons. I can't recommend Lunita Farm highly enough.
