We were greeted immediately upon entering around 8pm on a Wednesday and though the shopping area around us was deserted, this place was absolutely bustling. Our party of 3 was offered a high top table at the bar as none of the regular tables were available. This suited us perfectly! We were offered English and German menus, which was nice as it's always great fun to attempt to figure out what's what. Our first waiter (perhaps the manager?) was full of personality and took great care to help us pronounce the names of some of the dishes. He also recommended our excellent appetizer! Another waitress took his place later in the meal, so I assume she was on break when we were seated. She also provided super friendly and polite service. I had the roasted goose, and it was simply divine. Beautifully rendered skin, not chewy, tons of flavor. This came with a heaping pile of vinegary red cabbage and kartoffelkloesse (soft potato dumpling, which I actually don't care for that much but these were okay). The fresh Pils on tap (Bitburger, of course) was clean and crisp, and the ambience was cozy and comfortable. Everyone was quite satisfied with their meals, though in classic German style the portions were enormous. The bill came out to about 100€ total for three diners, which felt about right to me. I was super happy with this place!

They offer a "different version" (better, in my opinion) of an Italian pizza and many tasty homemade starters. Prices are also very reasonable. They also have a great selection of sodas and so try the homemade ice tea! The cheerful and hospitable owner sure knows how to care for his customers. His sense of humor and timely manner in which our delicious foods were served, completed our very pleasant late night dinner as we were just passing through Nancy after a long drive.

Being it was…read moreour first time in France I wanted to make sure we had delicious food, but we were in a time crunch, so it had to be quick. I hopped on Google and found this place, that looked like it might fit the bill. The Chef/owner was friendly, charming, and made us feel at home instantly. He said he could speak in several languages to accommodate us, and made some friendly jokes to break the ice. All 3 of us ordered the Bibou (mine without chedder, unfortunately). For beverages, one of us had the graefruit soda, and I had the violet homemade iced tea. The tea was one of the best I've had! Balanced, not too sweet, and lightly floral. When the pidélices came out, they were piping hot and covered in both sesame and poppy seeds. They were crispy, airy, and almost like a pizza in a paper thin baguette. The chef brought us a tasting of the lentil soup - his mother's recipe, he told us. It was thin, flavorful, and delicate. Not what I expected, but I enjoyed it enough to order a bowl. I wished I had a baguette to enjoy with the soup. At the end, the owner wished us well and invited us back if we needed any help while visiting the city, which was genuine and kind. He has a gift fir making people feel welcome and appreciated. Overall, we had a great meal and got back on the road on schedule. It was a great stop!
