Instant panic at the bill…read more I walked into Sand Mine with dread as I had the same issue last year at a different dentist office and they wanted $7500-$10,000 to remove the bridge, give me a root canal and leave me toothless for 6 weeks for the new bridge. I opted for the antibiotic, the pain went away and I dodged a bullet. But now the infection/absess was back. Dr. Nirh came in with a big smile, talked calmly, showed me my x-rays and exactly what was going on. Basically, the infection lays dormant and will continue to return if not treated properly. Simply, I need a root canal which can be performed through the bridge with a small hole. Not ripping/sawing/breaking the bridge off as I was told at the other dentist office. I do have to have this part done with a specialist right down the street next week, but what a relief! I was prescriped Ibuprofen and Amoxicillian and today feel some pain relief. My cost yesterday: $0 for the xrays (covered by insuarnce) and my co-pay for the refilling of the "hole" after the procedure will be $145. I'm not sure what the root canal will cost, but I'm sure not $10,000. The staff were great, Dr Nirh was calming and layed back and I would highly recommmend this dental office! I am 62 years old. They are understanding of her sensory issues and my personal issues.
