He pays very close attention to details, and literally makes the photos look SO magical yet NATURAL. Don is truly skillful and talented at what he does. Highly recommend giving him a shot if you're looking for a photographer / videographer. read more

I was referred to Don from my sister who found him through one of her very close friend that recently got married. Don is amazing at what he does and he truly works with you in achieving what you want for your photos. He did our engagement photos recently and it went really smooth. He made it fun and we felt comfortable taking pictures with him because he made everything go with the flow and it felt very natural! We took pictures at Balboa park and he took us around to different spots so that he could maximize the area and beauty of Balboa Park. It was nice that he wanted us to have a big selection of photos with different background and styles. When we were taking pictures Don made us feel very relaxed. I loved that he made us feel at home and it was enjoyable! He taught us different poses and made it simple as possible. It was such a fun day! Don even makes bouquets for you as a prop during photo taking!! And they ARE BEAUTIFUL!! He seriously could be a florist too! LOL The week before our engagement photos he even called me to talk about attire and it was really nice of him to talk about what would be best to wear and he really wanted us to look perfect on that day and suggested many different outfits and even asked if he could see what we got planned to see if it would go well with the theme etc. it was really considerate of him to take the time to reach out to us and care about our wardrobe and how the pictures will look with certain attire. Don sent us a lot of engagement photos and they all turned out beautifully!! I was very impressed and I am excited to work with him on videography and photography for our wedding day. Don is a very dedicated photographer and videographer. I can already see that it is his passion. He is very busy and books up fast so be considerate of his responses! He truly does try to get back to me asap and I haven't had any problems with communication the last couple months working with him. He is always awesome on calling me and touching base with me and reviewing whatever needs to be reviewed. Thank you Don! read more

TOTALLY NOT RECOMMEND DON FROM LUX MEDIA After I pay him 200 bucks for 2 hours shooting, he told me it takes him some time to edit the photo. He took 17 days to give me the photo and he disappear for a whole week. And block all my calls and message (I've got the evidence to prove). After I wrote the comment on his instagram about "scamming?!", he showed up again and gave me my photo. He claims he doing a lot of effort on edit the photo. (He could not handle even the rotation of the pic) read more

My husband and I met Don through our wedding coordinator, who had worked with Don on multiple weddings and had great things to say about him. We met up and he showed us some of his work, we were impressed and decided to hire him as our photographer and videographer. Fast forward to today (almost a year since our wedding- September 14, 2019) and we are still waiting for the rest of our wedding pictures (Don was paid in full the day of our wedding). I reached out to Don in April to get an update on pictures and video, and about a week later he sent me a link to the video and said he would provide the rest of the pictures in a USB drive. I reach out again in June to ask for an update, and he tells me he was in the hospital for several weeks because he was very sick due to COVID, but said he had recovered and would mail the USB. I reach out again on July 15th, and get no response. Today is August 13th, and I have not heard from Don. I reached out to my wedding coordinator and she said she would try to get a hold of him, but she has not received a reply either. From reading all of the reviews, it seems like everyone had a great experience and everyone received their pictures in a timely manner. I understand that things happen and I have been extremely patient, but it is ridiculous that I'm about to celebrate my one year wedding anniversary, and still waiting on wedding day pictures. I admit, Don takes beautiful pictures, but after the experience and his unprofessionalism, I would NOT recommend Don to anyone. Update: received the rest of my pictures on 8/18/2020 (11 months after my wedding). Again, I will admit the pictures are beautiful, but the time it took for me to receive them and the lack of communication on Don's part, is the reason for my 2 star rating read more

Don from Lux Media just photographed my wedding last weekend and I can't begin to give enough stars. Him and his assistant were so professional and patient with our large event and had organized everything prior to the big day. Don was extremely accommodating and has such an incredible and artistic vision for his shots. The way he uses natural lighting and backdrops made our pictures even more magical! Only 3 days after our wedding, Don had already created an online album for us with some of the pictures to see!! I seriously can't recommend Lux Media enough! You won't be disappointed! read more

Luminare - One of our favorites so far! - Event Photography Near Me - Creve Coeur, Missouri

Wow, I thought I've already given Lux Media and Don a stellar review. I must have watched the highlight video they made for us about a hundred times now. I'm just in awe every time I watch the video because they've done such an amazing job! I am so very late with this well deserved review, but I could have sworn I already wrote a perfect review for Lux Media before. It's almost our first year anniversary and thanks to Lux Media, my husband and I can remember the day by watching our wedding videos. Don and his crew are amazing! They know what they're doing, which I learned is one of the biggest thing you have to consider when looking for vendors at your event. The highlight video is still my favorite thing about our wedding. It captured moments I want to remember. Don and his crew were on time, never in the way, and they have a direction in what they plan to do for our "movie". I never had a single problem with them, which I really appreciated because planning a bigger wedding than I wanted was stressful enough. It took a while for me to convince my then fiance that we need videos of our wedding. It was really important to me that my grandmother who could not attend the wedding to be able to see how everything went. Don and his crew were there on time and stayed until almost at the end of our reception. They were able to capture moments throughout the day and I'm just so happy we have these wedding videos to always look back on. Talking with Don was easy, he's straight forward, and he always responds quickly when I send him an email. Since I live in Orange County and my wedding was in San Diego, emailing was my preferred way to communicate with all my vendors. It was really inconvenient for me to have to drive down to meet with a vendor because it can take up my entire day. That was not the case with Lux Media and in fact, he was one of the vendors I didn't have to worry about. I don't remember needing to meet him before the wedding and I think the first time I met Don was on the day of my wedding. Still, he was calm and collected, and he easily worked with other photographers. Everyone in his crew was friendly and it was a pleasure to have them on board for our wedding team. Our videos were delivered quickly, especially our highlight video. I was pleasantly surprised that we had a highlight video to show everyone in less than a month of our wedding. We received our full videos shortly after. Just as an FYI, photographers and videographers usually deliver photos and videos 2 to 6 months after the event because it takes up a lot of time to weed through the good photos and then edit the rest. I met a few photographers who said they sometimes can take up to 8 months to deliver their images. I would definitely hire Lux Media again for another special occasion. I highly recommend them. Their work is going to be one of the best things to highlight a special day. Both my husband and I thought they're worth it, especially since many of our family members were not able to attend our wedding. It's also nice to watch the video on our wedding anniversary. There was just so much going on in one day and it's nice to reflect back to that day we made it official as Mr & Mrs. Thank you to Don and everyone in his crew for working on our wedding day and helping us have a beautiful wedding to remember! read more

My wedding planner recommended Don to be our wedding videographer and I am SO thrilled she did! Not only did Don respond to all my emails timely and show up to the venue right on schedule, but he was such a pleasure to work with and got all the right shots! Don just sent me our wedding highlight video and I was in tears after watching it! I've watched it several times a day since and still cry every single time! I posted the video on Facebook for my friends and family to see and it's blowing up! Everyone loves it and says how beautiful it is and how it made them cry too. He has incredible editing skills and chose the perfect background music (which is now my favorite song) and I can't help but fall in love with my wedding day over and over again! What's funny is that when my husband and I were budgeting for the wedding, he kept saying how we needed to cut back and that we didn't need a videographer, but I convinced him that we DID need one and that is one thing most people say they wish they had. After the wedding, my husband told me he was SO happy we didn't cut the videographer out of the budget and kept telling me good job for not listening to him. Lol!! And then by the time the video came, he was absolutely blown away! To quote my husband on FB: "This is one of the most beautiful pieces of art I've ever seen. And to think I was upset because I didn't want to spend money on this. I thought it was useless, well let me tell you how these words taste! This was the BEST idea! Thank you so much for showing me how beautiful we can be Emily Hammond! This is the best video ever! Love you babe! SHARE THIS VIDEO!" I'll never forget a special moment at the end of the night, as all the celebrating was coming to an end, Don came up to me and complimented my guests saying what an amazing group of people they were and that he could tell that my husband and I were truly in love. I really appreciated his comment, he is a genuine good guy who is also the BEST at what he does! read more

6 months after our wedding, when I revisit pictures I am brought back to some amazing memories. The pictures are a treasure! They are realistic, captures everyone in their moment, the wedding venue and the ceremony. I especially love the portraits of my husband and myself (duh) by the ocean because we were in our element and ourselves despite trying a few wedding style poses. I agree with my mom-in-law (a wedding & event organizer) who commented that Don is one of the most personable, polite and ninja-like photographer she's observed. The album came out in less than a month after the wedding, we had all the pictures we discussed (family, friends, venue etc.) and in a few different formats. My original choice to go with Don was based on 1. His pictures don't look staged (my first priority) 2. They were all in focus (I know this is trivial but you'd be surprised by others' work) 3. Very flexible to work with, and has lots of ideas and suggestions for timing and venues to take pictures (how cool is that? I am not worried about fitting into someone's schedule). 4. Good and happy vibes =] (yes, vague and subjective comment..but for me it was a bonus to feel like an awesome friend was going to capture memories of our special day ) 5. We planned our wedding in a few weeks, so another bonus was that he made himself available for our date with very short notice. 6. Affordable for a young couple! Thanks Don! Hope to work with you in the future again. read more

When we were first planning our wedding, we were on the fence about getting a videographer. Now, watching our video brings back that magical day in all its glory and I cry every time we watch it - even our friends and family do! Don did an amazing job capturing all the most important aspects of our day. I am so happy we're able to revisit the memories through the beauty Don adds with his remarkable talent. I can't say enough how wonderful of a job Don and his team did. They were a joy to work with and I would recommend them to any couple who wants to be able to hold onto a beautifully packaged way to relive their special day forever. read more

We hired Don/Lux Media for our wedding two months ago, with the recommendation of our wedding coordinator and it was one of the best vendor decisions we made! Don is an amazing videographer for a great price! He did everything with such care and professionalism, we couldn't have asked for anything more. We had an Indian wedding, which Don hadn't covered before, but he went above and beyond his job, and really researched all the customs etc. to a point that he was telling us about things that happen at Indian weddings that we didn't even know about! He really cares about his clients, his prices are great and his service is wonderful! We LOVED our wedding video so much that we have asked Don to make us a second video from the remaining footage. Don puts in a lot of effort and really gives you what you ask for. I will definitely recommend Lux Media to any of my friends getting married in the future. read more

Getting photos done for our family reunion was a painless process thanks to Don at Lux Media. Thank you so much not only for the beautiful shots, but also for your passion and vision throughout! Don is so easy to work with, punctual and responsive. Our crew had a ton of people (including young kids and some adults who don't particularly like getting pictures taken) but his direction and advice led to gorgeous photos across the board. He was patient and professional, but also made you feel at ease. Getting the reunion dinner set up was a huge undertaking, so it was definitely a load off to have the pictures go so smoothly. We really appreciated how communicative he was and the fact that he showed up early was one less thing to worry about! read more

Don did our save the date and wedding videos. He did an exceptional job not only were the videos incredible, but he also had a great attitude and was very personable. We've never heard about a save the date video until Don suggested it to us. When he completed our save the date video not only was my husband and I satisfied but every single family member and friend that watched the video were amazed at how beautiful it was. Watching the video before we got married made us eager for our wedding. During our wedding Don showed attention to detail and captured every magical moment. He was very friendly, attentive and gave us exactly what we wanted. His same day edit that he showed towards the end of the wedding was one of the best ones I've seen. I highly recommend Don to do everyone's wedding and I think he's the best Videographer out there. Thank you so much Don for all of your hard work and dedication! We hope that you broaden your scope and assist us with another video one day. read more

My organization used Don to record a lecture we had at a local religious institution. He was super professional to work with and even though I gave him the wrong address of the lecture - he still managed to arrive and set up on time! The end product was just what we asked for - high quality! So easy to work with - thanks Don! read more

Don's talents don't stop at wedding videos. Don took outstanding Christmas pictures of my girlfriend and I - and they were a big hit with family and friends. Don helped us out so much throughout the entire process. We approached Don when the idea was still in its infancy. He helped us come up with themes, locations, and wardrobes. When the day finally came for the shoot, he helped us with choosing the right outfits and took over 400 pictures of us. The shots were amazing and he was extremely patient. The results and responses we received from our friends and families were off the wall. Great value! Even better experience. read more

Like many, we were on the fence about hiring a videographer but I knew we needed a video to capture everything a still shot wouldn't. We found Don on yelp thanks to all of you previous yelpers, so here we are one month after our wedding, hopefully doing for someone else what you all did for us! Don did an amazing job capturing everything we wanted to see and remember on our wedding day! He is amazingly talented and definitely one of the best if not the best at what he does. His prices are unbeatable for the amount of work that he does in creating a product that not only he is proud to share but his clients are as well. The day of our wedding he was the first vendor to arrive and one of the last to leave. He blended in well with the hustle and bustle being sure to capture all of our special moments without being too intrusive. We absolutely love the highlight reel he created for us, and still tear up each time we watch it. We definitely will continue promoting Don and Lux Media and all the great work that they do! read more

Don and his assistant are the best in the business. He showed up early, gave direction and helped us feel extremely comfortable through the whole process of filming the best day of our lives. I talked to over 10 different videographers and once I talked to him I know he was it. Everyone should use him! Thanks Don!!!! read more

Don was the best!! We saw his work after bumping into him at a San Diego establishment 2 years ago and kept his contact for years knowing we would want his work in our future. We were able to book him successfully and man oh man he sure didn't disappoint! On the day of, his poised and comforting demeanor contributed to the beauty of the day, allowing the emotional flavor to fully take over without worrying about what the vendors need or what photo shot we need to take right now.. he took natural moments and action shots throughout the entire day. His passion for videography and attention to detail is truly what set him apart. He uses voiceovers throughout his video in order to capture the tone of the day and includes speech you want to capture. The quality is INSANE! Also, I needed to get a highlights video and raw footage of the speeches to present at my second reception back home and he was able to expedite the video asap for us!! THANK YOU DON! read more

Was looking for a photographer to take grad pics and came across Don while browsing online. There was a special end of the year deal that was being offered so I jumped at the opportunity and I am so happy that I did! Don is an excellent photographer and the photos came out amazing!! It was a pleasure working with him and he exceeded my expectations. It was also awesome that we were able to take pics at my school. This was my first time doing a photoshoot like this and he was very creative and had a lot of ideas for different pictures. He was very accommodating, captured all the right angles, and had a good eye for lighting! He was fun to work with while still being professional. He even digitally enhanced some of the pics which is nice. I will definitely be working with him again!! Looking forward to it :) read more

I have to say, Don from Lux Media is the best for videography in San Diego! If needed for an out of town wedding, I would still recommend him. His prices are unbeatable with the fantastic job that he does, it is a steal! I'm a wedding coordinator and believe Lux Media to be and should be the number one choice for videography to save memories from weddings. People would want to cherish and relive those precious memories. I highly recommend Don from Lux Media. He's detailed, personable, and highly talented with his work. I love working with Don and his team. Sometimes it's hard to believe that he and his team is even there working the weddings with you! That's how good and discrete his team is. Five stars and more for Lux Media! read more

When my husband and I started on the wedding adventures, I didn't plan on having a videographer. However, after much discussions with other couples about their weddings, the one factor they each brought up without prodding was that they were so happy that had a video to remember their wedding day and those that didn't, regretted it. This prompted my search for a videographer asap! I searched high and low: wedding expos, various wedding websites, then finally on Yelp. That was how I stumbled upon Don and his company - Lux Media. At the time, there weren't as many videos on his website and Youtube channel, but what videos there were, they were really good. So we reached out and met with Don and by the end of that meeting, I knew we were in good hands. During the day of the wedding, Don arrived promptly and was not only professional, but fun and easy to work with throughout the day. He would give simple instructions to get the best shot and most of it was just him capturing the natural aspect of the moment. Seeing the finished product, it let me relive that day and brought me to tears again. For anybody who's looking for a great videographer, Lux Media is your go to. Don with Lux Media was recommended by my wedding planner. He filmed our September wedding and the 8 minute re-cap was amazing! We were able to share the video with friends and family via Youtube. He captured many moments that the photographer wasn't able to catch/or it was just better in film! He was also fun to have around the day of the wedding- very sweet and made all of us girls laugh. 5 stars on the video production! Because Don is so talented, he has become oh so popular. He's a busy guy, so my one recommendation to Don is to get an assistant to help communicate with brides/clients. Improve upon communication and it's a 5 star all the way! read more

We hired Don to photograph our Hindu Baby Shower function and I must say he did a phenomenal job! Lucky for us he has also shot other Indian functions and he showed us some of his previous work. He was very easy to work with. He was punctual on the day off and shared the photos with us on the promised date. The photographs were beautiful and he captured all the rituals in order, which was very important to us! My husband and I recently just had our wedding in May 2016, behind the scenes, capturing every moment of our wonderful moment was the great videographer, Don! We were lucky enough to have been connected with him from our extravagant wedding planner. Simply from first impression upon me and my husband's meet and greet with Don, we knew his humor, genuine persona, yet legitimate professionalism was one we were confident in working with. During the whole wedding event, Don did not hesitate to go directly to business. He fluently read the Photographer's movements (considering this was the first encounter they both have had working together) and it seemed as though they've choreographed they're skills in avoiding the impedance of one another's primary agenda, a crisp shot! Communication was of major importance and Don was soft spoken out of kindness & respect but had the evident confidence to direct the bridal party when and where he required them to successfully have the necessary video content for a perfect finished product. His attention to the smallest detail can easily capture true emotions from an outside perspective! He is truly talented in his skillset and is evidenced by his work viewable in youtube. I would and already have recommended Don from Lux Media to anyone for the perfect video by the best videographer to retain their wonderful memories of any major event! read more

Don was amazing every step of the way. He steered us toward a night time shoot in downtown San Diego for our engagement photos, and we are so happy he did. The photos turned out so well! Even though we got married 6 months ago, I remember our experience with Don and his assistant. Here is our experience: Pros: We got some lovely photos and video. We love both the raw footage and edited version of our video. Don has a lively personality and good sense of humor. He was able to help us relax and have fun at our engagement shoot. Don does care about the finished product of his photos and video. Although the photo and video is not perfect, it's good quality for the price we paid. He was willing to make changes to the music we had chosen for our edited video, which we appreciated. The prices were much more affordable than others in the area and we got a cash discount. Cons: Communication. Sometimes Don got back to us right away, other times calls, texts and emails went unanswered for weeks at a time. Professionalism and wedding etiquette: I asked Don to be discreet during the wedding ceremony and not disturb the ceremony by getting too close, blocking people's view, interfering with the church service, etc. However, in order to get "the best shots" unfortunately the discretion was sacrificed. My mom walked up the aisle and as soon as she got to her seat the photographer stood in front of her, blocking her view, so he could get the shot. My dad had the photographer lean over his shoulder and he could hear the clicking in his ear as he was trying to watch the ceremony. I would have preferred to have some pictures taken from a bit farther away with a zoom lens rather than having my guests and ceremony disturbed. Overall we are happy with the finished products we received, but some of the customer service and professionalism could be improved. read more

First of all I just want to mention that Don is so professional and not to mention fun and funny to be around with. And secondly, he's a true artist. I hired him to take our family photo. I gotta say I'm not very photogenic but I was really surprise with the result because it looks AMAZING. He helped us with our poses and make sure we have the right angle for a best result. Five enthusiastic stars for Don with Lux Media!!! We hired Don to be our wedding videographer in August and it was the BEST money we spent on our wedding. I couldn't recommend him more. Don was a recommendation from a wedding industry friend of mine and from the moment he contacted us back, we knew he was a great pick. First off, Don's price for what he does, is such a steal! We had looked into other videographers before contacting Don but everything was way out of our budget. My best friend advised me to absolutely get a videographer, saying that she had regretted not doing it but when I saw how much they all cost, I was really bummed until we met Don! Secondly, he was very polite, fun, personable and great at getting back to us. We met with him once so that he could get a feel for us as a couple and we talked quite a bit up until the wedding. On the day of, Don was on time, very professional and thorough. We knew we didn't want a videographer who was in our faces all day and Don definitely wasn't that - we barely noticed he was there! The video we ended up with was BEYOND AMAZING!!! Don really knocked it out of the park! Perfect editing, perfect shots of very important moments, black and whites, color shots, slow motion, great music -- everything we wanted and more! We literally both cry every time we watch our video and Don even gave us all of the raw footage which we can't wait to watch! I didn't realize how much I would love the video. It allows us to look back on the magic of our day from all angles. Every time we watch our video, it takes us right back to the love we felt on the day we married. It's really so special!! We HIGHLY recommend Don with Lux Media. If you spend any money on your wedding - spend money on him! It's worth it a hundred times over! read more
