I was referred to Don from my sister who found him through one of her very close friend that recently got married. Don is amazing at what he does and he truly works with you in achieving what you want for your photos. He did our engagement photos recently and it went really smooth. He made it fun and we felt comfortable taking pictures with him because he made everything go with the flow and it felt very natural! We took pictures at Balboa park and he took us around to different spots so that he could maximize the area and beauty of Balboa Park. It was nice that he wanted us to have a big selection of photos with different background and styles. When we were taking pictures Don made us feel very relaxed. TOTALLY NOT RECOMMEND DON FROM LUX MEDIA After I pay him 200 bucks for 2 hours shooting, he told me it takes him some time to edit the photo. He took 17 days to give me the photo and he disappear for a whole week. And block all my calls and message (I've got the evidence to prove). After I wrote the comment on his instagram about "scamming?!", he showed up again and gave me my photo. He claims he doing a lot of effort on edit the photo. My husband and I met Don through our wedding coordinator, who had worked with Don on multiple weddings and had great things to say about him. We met up and he showed us some of his work, we were impressed and decided to hire him as our photographer and videographer. Fast forward to today (almost a year since our wedding- September 14, 2019) and we are still waiting for the rest of our wedding pictures (Don was paid in full the day of our wedding). I reached out to Don in April to get an update on pictures and video, and about a week later he sent me a link to the video and said he would provide the rest of the pictures in a USB drive. I reach out again in June to ask for an update, and he tells me he was in the hospital for several weeks because he was very sick due to COVID, but said he had recovered and would mail the USB. I reach out again on July 15th, and get no response. Today is August 13th, and I have not heard from Don. I reached out to my wedding coordinator and she said she would try to get a hold of him, but she has not received a reply either. From reading all of the reviews, it seems like everyone had a great experience and everyone received their pictures in a timely manner. I understand that things happen and I have been extremely patient, but it is ridiculous that I'm about to celebrate my one year wedding anniversary, and still waiting on wedding day pictures. I admit, Don takes beautiful pictures, but after the experience and his unprofessionalism, I would NOT recommend Don to anyone. Update: received the rest of my pictures on 8/18/2020 (11 months after my wedding). Wow, I thought I've already given Lux Media and Don a stellar review. I must have watched the highlight video they made for us about a hundred times now. I'm just in awe every time I watch the video because they've done such an amazing job! I am so very late with this well deserved review, but I could have sworn I already wrote a perfect review for Lux Media before. It's almost our first year anniversary and thanks to Lux Media, my husband and I can remember the day by watching our wedding videos. Don and his crew are amazing! They know what they're doing, which I learned is one of the biggest thing you have to consider when looking for vendors at your event. The highlight video is still my favorite thing about our wedding. It captured moments I want to remember. Don and his crew were on time, never in the way, and they have a direction in what they plan to do for our "movie". I never had a single problem with them, which I really appreciated because planning a bigger wedding than I wanted was stressful enough. It took a while for me to convince my then fiance that we need videos of our wedding. It was really important to me that my grandmother who could not attend the wedding to be able to see how everything went. Don and his crew were there on time and stayed until almost at the end of our reception. They were able to capture moments throughout the day and I'm just so happy we have these wedding videos to always look back on. Talking with Don was easy, he's straight forward, and he always responds quickly when I send him an email. Since I live in Orange County and my wedding was in San Diego, emailing was my preferred way to communicate with all my vendors. It was really inconvenient for me to have to drive down to meet with a vendor because it can take up my entire day. That was not the case with Lux Media and in fact, he was one of the vendors I didn't have to worry about. I don't remember needing to meet him before the wedding and I think the first time I met Don was on the day of my wedding. Still, he was calm and collected, and he easily worked with other photographers. Everyone in his crew was friendly and it was a pleasure to have them on board for our wedding team. Our videos were delivered quickly, especially our highlight video. I was pleasantly surprised that we had a highlight video to show everyone in less than a month of our wedding. We received our full videos shortly after. Just as an FYI, photographers and videographers usually deliver photos and videos 2 to 6 months after the event because it takes up a lot of time to weed through the good photos and then edit the rest. I met a few photographers who said they sometimes can take up to 8 months to deliver their images. I would definitely hire Lux Media again for another special occasion. I highly recommend them. Their work is going to be one of the best things to highlight a special day. Both my husband and I thought they're worth it, especially since many of our family members were not able to attend our wedding. It's also nice to watch the video on our wedding anniversary. My wedding planner recommended Don to be our wedding videographer and I am SO thrilled she did! Not only did Don respond to all my emails timely and show up to the venue right on schedule, but he was such a pleasure to work with and got all the right shots! Don just sent me our wedding highlight video and I was in tears after watching it! I've watched it several times a day since and still cry every single time! 6 months after our wedding, when I revisit pictures I am brought back to some amazing memories.The pictures are a treasure! They are realistic, captures everyone in their moment, the wedding venue and the ceremony. I especially love the portraits of my husband and myself (duh) by the ocean because we were in our element and ourselves despite trying a few wedding style poses. I agree with my mom-in-law (a wedding & event organizer) who commented that Don is one of the most personable, polite and ninja-like photographer she's observed. The album came out in less than a month after the wedding, we had all the pictures we discussed (family, friends, venue etc.) and in a few different formats. My original choice to go with Don was based on 1. His pictures don't look staged (my first priority) 2. They were all in focus (I know this is trivial but you'd be surprised by others' work) 3. Even though we got married 6 months ago, I remember our experience with Don and his assistant. Here is our experience: Pros: We got some lovely photos and video. We love both the raw footage and edited version of our video. Don has a lively personality and good sense of humor. He was able to help us relax and have fun at our engagement shoot. Don does care about the finished product of his photos and video. Although the photo and video is not perfect, it's good quality for the price we paid. He was willing to make changes to the music we had chosen for our edited video, which we appreciated. The prices were much more affordable than others in the area and we got a cash discount. Cons: Communication. Sometimes Don got back to us right away, other times calls, texts and emails went unanswered for weeks at a time. Professionalism and wedding etiquette: I asked Don to be discreet during the wedding ceremony and not disturb the ceremony by getting too close, blocking people's view, interfering with the church service, etc. However, in order to get "the best shots" unfortunately the discretion was sacrificed. My mom walked up the aisle and as soon as she got to her seat the photographer stood in front of her, blocking her view, so he could get the shot. My dad had the photographer lean over his shoulder and he could hear the clicking in his ear as he was trying to watch the ceremony. I would have preferred to have some pictures taken from a bit farther away with a zoom lens rather than having my guests and ceremony disturbed. Overall we are happy with the finished products we received, but some of the customer service and professionalism could be improved. read more

A true artist! Don was amazing!!! My wedding video brought tears to my wife's, my parents and my in-laws eyes... Ok i too teared up a little. I searched dozens of other videographers works and didn't find a single one as captivating and cinematic as Dons. His unique style allows you to really get in the best parts of your special day without just being a play by play.
