After meeting with a photographer, selecting a package, signing a contract, and setting a date for engagement photos, four months later my daughter discovered, the night before the engagement photos, that the photographer no longer worked for Brea, and somehow had not checked her messages in days. Praise to Brea herself, who stepped in at this critical moment to respond to e-mail notes and phone messages, and make the trip to our humble suburb to take care of the engagement photo session. I rationalized this stumble and recovery, imagining that many small business owners experience similar pains when entrusting work to others and/or taking a break. We experienced poor communication and flawed office procedures, followed by a good save by the boss. Subsequently, my daughter was assigned another photographer and assistant to complete the contract; the team arrived on time, and completed the job. Five weeks later, the results were available for viewing and download. Seven-hundred-plus wedding photos and perhaps 150 engagement photos. A photo booth for guests. In the end, there were approx. 1/3 the number of photos from my son's wedding by another firm last year, but perhaps more time given to editing out the duds, so it might be argued that the quality of these is higher. When I look at the photos, certainly I can see artistic shot framing and good photography skills. I also see a more pronounced worry line in the forehead of the bride's father.

We've been using Emily for pictures of our son during his first year. I wanted 3,6,9, and 12 month…read morepictures, and she was able to let me create a package that worked for what we wanted. I had shopped around quite a bit and her prices were really fair for what we were asking. There are definitely other photographers out there with lower quality work that are charging a lot more. So far we have done 3 and 6 month pictures and they are great. During our first session my son was really fussy since he was teething and hadn't had much of a nap that day. I thought for sure we wouldn't get many good pictures because he was in such a bad mood, but Emily was able to catch him smiling, and we got a lot of really cute pictures! When it was time for our 6 month pictures we had scheduled a time to meet at our home for the shoot. Again my son was having a hard time getting a good nap in, I called Emily and asked if it was possible push back 30 minutes in the hopes that we could get at least a few minutes of sleep in so he wouldn't cry during our whole session. She was really flexible and told us to just call whenever he woke up. He was able to get a good solid nap in and we really appreciated the flexibility that day. And again the pictures were amazing. She has really been able to capture his personality and us as a family together. I would recommend Emily to anyone looking for a photographer in the StL area.
