I love Brea Photography! Brea herself is fantastic to work with, and her team of photographers are reliable, friendly, and I never have to worry about they way the photos are going to turn out. As someone who plans a lot of events, not having to give photography a second thought is completely priceless. If you can snag Brea, use her before you use her peeps, but anyone from the group should work out just fine. Typically getting a hold of her 2-3 weeks before your event is enough time, but book ahead if you want to use her pop-up photo booth services, which I believe are new. I relied upon glowing yelp reviews, when selecting my daughter's wedding photographer got complicated. Unfortunately, my life did not get any less complicated. After meeting with a photographer, selecting a package, signing a contract, and setting a date for engagement photos, four months later my daughter discovered, the night before the engagement photos, that the photographer no longer worked for Brea, and somehow had not checked her messages in days. Praise to Brea herself, who stepped in at this critical moment to respond to e-mail notes and phone messages, and make the trip to our humble suburb to take care of the engagement photo session. I rationalized this stumble and recovery, imagining that many small business owners experience similar pains when entrusting work to others and/or taking a break. We experienced poor communication and flawed office procedures, followed by a good save by the boss. Subsequently, my daughter was assigned another photographer and assistant to complete the contract; the team arrived on time, and completed the job. Five weeks later, the results were available for viewing and download. Seven-hundred-plus wedding photos and perhaps 150 engagement photos. A photo booth for guests. In the end, there were approx. 1/3 the number of photos from my son's wedding by another firm last year, but perhaps more time given to editing out the duds, so it might be argued that the quality of these is higher. When I look at the photos, certainly I can see artistic shot framing and good photography skills. I also see a more pronounced worry line in the forehead of the bride's father. read more

I recently engaged Brea Photography to do my 5-year anniversary photos. My husband and I hadn't had any professional photographs done since the wedding so I thought why not? I never worked directly with Brea, but set everything up with one of her photographers. All of the initial set-up (date, time, location, package) was done over email and was relatively easy. I wasn't sure where I wanted to do the shoot, so the photographer offered some suggestions and sent over some links to portfolios they'd done in those locations. We decided on the Sculpture Park and I was hoping that she would have done a little reconnaissance prior to the shoot since the Sculpture Park is so huge and we only had an hour. But, she had never even been there so it was up to me to kind of point out different things. I didn't love that because I know what parts of the park I like, but am not a photographer so don't know what's going to look good in a photo. The other part that made the shoot super awkward was that she didn't pose us or tell us what to do. And maybe that works for most people, but I'm kind of awkward anyway so trying to pretend that the camera's not there and just acting normal with my husband while she shoots us does not work. Hence there were a lot of uncomfortable looking shots. I'm sure I made that worse than most people, but a little more structure would have been nice. I did really, really like the girl that photographed us - she was really sweet and trying really hard so I'll give her credit for that. The quality of the photos turned out nicely, though I only liked maybe 10% of the shots. If you want to buy the rights to the digital images it's like an extra $200 or something like that, so we stuck to the prints, which were also pricey. After I ordered online, the prints arrived at my house pretty quickly. Although, there was a slight snafu and two were the wrong prints. But the mistake was rectified quickly enough. read more

I first came across Brea last year when I got engaged. I found them on Yelp and noticed that Aimee K. had used them. I looked into them a bit and was even quoted over email with Jessica. We did not book them right away because I still wanted to shop around. Well 1 year later here I am on yelp letting my fellow yelpers know that we finally met with Jessica. We met at their new studio off of Cherokee. Its still the bare bones as far as décor goes but they are getting there. Jessica is very amazing let me tell you. She answers all of my questions, answers all of my emails, she puts up with a lot of questions, if ands and butts. and more importantly their photography is beautiful. Looking at their gallery, they have a very whimsical, soft and romantic feel to them. Its exactly how we want our wedding to be captured and feel. I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience with Jessica Priest at Brea Photography! She's kind, creative, flexible, and incredibly talented. Jessica photographed our wedding last month and it was just perfect! In pre-wedding dealings, Jessica was easy to talk to, flexible, understanding, and full of really good ideas. She made the made the planning prep work a breeze. My husband and I were both in grad school out of town and were not able to do formal engagement pictures. At first we were both a bit worried because we heard engagement pictures were a great way to get practice for wedding photos. When I mentioned it to Jessica she went out of her way to meet with my husband and me the day before our wedding (the only time we were both going to be in St. Louis prior to the big day) and did a little engagement shoot over coffee. It was wonderful! All my nerves were calmed and we were ready for the wedding pictures. On our wedding day, we again had a FABULOUS experience with Jessica. She was a good sport, rolling with our sometimes crazy crew. We took several hours of pictures in between the wedding and the reception and Jessica was on top of her game the entire time, despite wedding party members fading due to heat etc. She kept us energized, excited, and smiling. Terrible service! I received a gift card for $250 April 2021 for a 30 minutes family portrait session. During the pandemic most people understands how difficult was for many of us to gather our family of 4 adult living in 3 different states, and I was not worried about taking pictures of my family. I contacted Brea's photography business to make an appointment after the expiration date. She communicated that gift card was expired. Even though, her redemption policy reads a confusing statement "Value does not expire. Gift cards expire after 12 months of purchase date". Because of the circumstances I tried to reason with Brea and I thought she would be more understanding and honor the gift certificate or at least discount her services. Made an appointment the beginning of September for November during Thanksgiving holidays. I contacted again closer to our appointment date, she did not have us in her schedule. After a couple of emails, she was able to accommodate us if we pay for the full service again, not a discount, and not a sign of empathy on her communication. Terrible costumer service for a service business! But she did wished us a good rest of our Thanksgiving weekend! read more

We live in LA and my husband's family is in St. Louis. I found Brea on yelp and loved her pictures; they were beautiful, authentic and contemporary. Planning a wedding while living in a different city is no picnic but Brea couldn't have made it easier. She skyped with us during the initial consultation and was flexible with our Pacific time schedule, our engagement photos turned out great. At the wedding, I was five months pregnant and, honestly, I could not have gone through the day without her. I hired Brea Photography because when I went to their website the photos seemed like my style. I spoke with Brea Photography on the phone after speaking with another photographer that I was inquiring with, and Brea was significantly less expensive. Brea offered to do our engagement photos for free so they could get to know us. Even though we did not want engagement photos we could not pass up the fact that they were free. It was a very pleasant experience with Jessica and the photos turned out really well. Fast forward to our wedding in June of 2014: Jessica was an absolute delight to have as my photographer. I made it very clear to her that I did not want staged photos where everyone is standing perfectly all the time, and I did not want to be bombarded with photos. She listened to what I wanted and the photos were very painless. She was snapping pictures when I didn't even know she was taking pictures, so she was very unobtrusive. Jessica is a very sweet person and I just can't say enough about her. She also listened to the wedding party when they had an idea for a photo. Jessica was also very flexible when I changed my mind about something at the last minute. It really was a wonderful and pleasant day with her.
