No one deserves this level of unprofessionalism. Dayton is literally in the background of a photo,…read moretaken by one of my guests, with his camera ON HIS HIP as my bridesmaids are making their way down the aisle. An hour in to my event start time Dayton was standing around socializing with my wedding guests. When I noticed and asked what he was doing, he acted confused. I informed him that he should already be taking photos since he was paid for the full 6 hour event. He began taking them, but asked me periodically throughout MY WEDDING DAY what kind of photos I wanted him to take/what other ideas I had. I feel any professional photographer should be able to answer this on their own. After dinner, which he was invited to join us for, he was again sort of loitering with some guests until my husband went and tipped him (for no reason other than the fact that it is just proper etiquette.) I guess receiving a tip, prompted some new found enthusiasm in him as he then started taking pictures again and asking me for ideas on what kind of pictures I wanted. This finally all culminated with just a bunch of portrait taking, outside, as we were losing the sunlight.... Actually getting the photos was another ordeal in itself. He mailed them out in a paper mailer the first time, which showed up empty with a split in the side. I can't help feeling a little awkward that some stranger probably has a copy of my wedding photos. I contacted him and he said he would mail them out that day. After not receiving them for two weeks, I reached out to touch base and received no response from Dayton for 5 days. When I finally heard from him he claimed that he had not been able to get back to me because he had been on an extended shoot, but had mailed the photos out two days prior. So I guess he could make it to the post office, but not answer his phone? When I finally received the photos, there were only 243, not the 300-400 I was promised. Editing was incredible poor. Many were either too dark or overexposed. Angles were strange and many not centered properly. There were some things that should have been cropped out if not avoided entirely (ie- and ugly broken utility box on the wall he took some of my husband's portraits against.) There we're also some photos that I remembered him taking that were left out entirely. A photo of myself on the staircase which was probably my favorite of myself that day, as well as a photo of my cousin and I and one of me and a close friend. I reached out to him to see about getting those photos and again, received no response for 4 days. When he did respond (December 21), he said that he was spending time with family and didn't have good phone connection, but would mail out the rest of wedding photos the first week of January. It is now the first week of February and I haven't heard from Dayton or received any photos.
