Really bad experience with a massage therapist this evening. I felt sooo uncomfortable and we were…read more5 minutes into the massage. I asked her 3 times to stop the massage. Three different times. I wish the receptionists would've had my back and could've helped me. Neither one of them asked me what happened or said anything when I went to the desk 10 minutes after my massage started. Her name is Cindy. Back in January there was a note to not pare with me with her because she does the worst massages. No technique, just rubs back and forth and it hurts. Really bad massage. Rubbing skin back and forth with lots of friction and talking non stop asking me questions outside of the massage. When I asked her to stop the massage the first time, she goes "tell the front desk I say hi" in such a smirk voice. I was shocked. I said "excuse me?" Still hands on me. She grabbed my right arm and dug her hand into my back shoulder blade. I have been icing it since I got home. I asked her the second time. I said "I don't know where the button is to call the front desk people in. Can you please stop?" Didn't stop and wouldn't take her hands off. I lifted my body and of course I'm not dressed and was pulling the blanket up around me and I said "I want to get dressed! Please stop." It was so bad. I'm waiting to talk to someone in charge. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. And I am so unimpressed with the receptionist and other employees.

My go-to place for massages when in Salt Lake! Been going for almost a decade and I make it a…read morepriority to get a massage every time I'm in town There's a reason they're booked out far so always make reservations further out than you think. I made a couples massage reservation weeks ago. Hot tip: they do 15% off sales a few times a year so get on their email list and buy a package since they don't expire. We got their Kura massage and they were able to get us in the same room. It was so relaxing and every time we go, I always regret not getting the 90 min massage. My massage therapist Kierstie was incredible! I mentioned my neck and upper back pain and she perfectly focused on them and the surrounding muscles to loosen all the tightness. My husband had Heather and he said she was great too! The massage beds at Kura Door got a big upgrade years ago to medical beds so you can get maneuvered into positions that are more optimal to get certain muscles. Ugh! I can't love this place enough. It's peaceful from the minute you walk in. You're escorted to take your shoes off and shown the dressing room to change into your robe. The waiting area has warm water, dried fruit, cold water and teas that are DIVINE! We didn't get a facial but in past times, I generally always get one.

This cute facility is tucked in the Avenues neighborhood and while there isn't a ton of parking in the lot, it's not too difficult to find a spot on the street within a reasonable walking distance. The staff was really nice and the facility was clean and sanitized - both big wins in my book. There are also lot of different offerings to be customized to your liking and you can spend time at the steam room or quiet rooms with light snacks, water, and tea options. I loved every minute here and can't wait to go back!

I don't know her name, but all she did was stand up there and tell this poor student there how wrong she was and literally yelled at her in front of me. The poor student kept trying to defend herself and the woman wouldn't even let her speak. honestly ridiculous that she had the audacity to do that in front of several customers in the lobby. It made the environment soooo uncomfortable. They need to deal with that woman immediately or fire her. But incredible pedicure!

I was burned during treatment at Renaissance Academie last year. A year later, I am still scarred. The teachers, who are licensed professionals, handled the situation horribly. The one who was present at the front desk when I was charged for my service of burns told me that she had seen this happen before. Then I was later told the school had never had this happen before. I believe the state requires first aid training in curriculum and licensing. I received no cool compress. I received not a single bandage or sterile covering for my open wounds to protect the skin from bacteria and infection. I had to get oral and topical prescription antibiotics. If proper first aid basic care is not a state or accreditation requirement for licensed esthetics teachers, it should be. I think licensed professionals trained in skin care, and educating others in skin care, should know the difference between intact skin and open wounds. Based on my experience and encounters with the teachers and their poor handling and advising in the situation, I would personally be concerned about who is teaching or supervising service.
