I always manage to find something I want here because everything seems to fit just right. Aigle here at the Times Square is located on the 7th floor of the building but has been known to move in the past. It's a small store but is actually packed with tons of different things both men and women and for children too apparently. This is a French company originally built for outdoor sporting. For those living in cold/snowy climates you'll most certainly find something here that you will enjoy. The colors I think make up a lot of the awesomeness that this place is. Colors are not too loud but do make a statement. They also sell hats, scarves, gloves and boots. They have a membership card where you can accrue points. Not sure what you get at the end of the day... Certainly on the expensive side. But I mean, if you're going to spend on ski gear anyways, expect to pay big prices. At least when shopping at Aigle, you'll be fashionable while you empty your wallet!

For 陳富記, (plastic) cobbling for a pair of shoes sets you back HK$90 with a next-day pick up. I had my shoes shined as well for HK$45 a pair. Naturally, they also have on-the-spot shoe shine service where you sit down for around 5-10 minutes while he glosses up your shoes; the price is different I believe, but I have yet to confirm. If you have patina or other more exotic shoes, I would recommend you go somewhere else for your shoe care.

What you can see if a lot of sport enthusiasts here to get the right gears, often to help boosting their performance. I wasn't one of those enthusiasts until I decided to join my first triathlon (albeit a short one). Unlike running or swimming, where you can just enter a race with your usual running/swimming gear, doing a triathlon requires quite some unique equipment. And that was my first time visiting Escapade. It was eye opening to see how many different things you can buy to make your race easier, even for amateurs. I bought a beginner grade tri-suit for just above HKD$1,000. Why do I need one, anyway? For instance, no one, not even the kids, will change suits between different legs, so a suit that fits for swimming, cycling, and running is essential. And a tri-suit provides a comfortable wear for swimming, yet drying off fairly quickly after you leave the water. It also has a "pad" thick enough to absorb shocks between your crotch and your bicycle seat, but not as bulky as a cycling shorts' pad, so that you feel comfortable to run too. Ever since then I'm really interested in the sport gears. Even for less popular sports in Hong Kong like hockey or rugby, you can still easily find whatever suits you. I recently bought a backpack that is designed for trail walking/running, with a water bag included. Relatively lightweight, fairly packed, yet comes with a lot of functions and spacious sections. This is the reason that sets the shop apart others. Like the German architectural principle, "form follows function", this shop provides everything under the idea of "fashion follows function".

Escapade Sports is an actual sports shop where fashion is not the number one key element. Their number one key element is the practicality of the sporting variety. They are a very serious sports shop, but at the same time, they do have a few fun things. They specialise in cricket, rugby, triathlons, trail running and a few other sports. For those who are looking for specific equipment, you have found your haven. They have everything, including nutrition gels, specific trail running shoes, grass hockey equipment and everything in between. The shop in Causeway Bay is bigger than the one in Central, more space, allowing more stock there as well. The only thing is, Escapade Sports in Causeway Bay is a destination shop, you will only go there if you know what you are looking for, it's not one of those shops where you just drop in, just to browse. The staff there are very friendly and knowledgable, so it's cool to go in and ask for advice.

There's a reason why the crowds aren't piling into this mall, there really isn't that much to see here. There used to be a nice coffee shop upstairs that I enjoyed going to, that was the only place where I didn't have to fit off 10 people for a table, however since the coffee shop closed, I never really set foot there anymore. There's nothing to see, the shops are overflowing with mainland Chinese (namely Louis Vuitton and Chanel). It kind of defeats the purpose of going into a shopping mall. I believe they went through a bit of renovations a few years ago, possibly a rebranding exercise, I don't see much difference. I think they could possibly do a little better positioning the mall. The shops itself are decent, just for some reason, they haven't managed to bring the right crowds.

No matter if you buy slim fit, bootcut, boyfriend, shorts etc., as long as you stay away from the blue jeans, you're fine. For whatever reason the black, white or coloured denim or canvas pants fit well. The denim shirts, tank tops and grey or coloured T-shirts are fab. Just stay away from most of the dresses, the white T-shirts (usually see-through) and, cannot be said often enough, the blue jeans as they hardly ever fit well. Some of their attempts of designing "trendy" clothes have a rather sad outcome such as tie-dyed shirts and dresses with GAP logo. So not cool. The sportswear could be dryer (means more functional fabric/material), the sleep wear and undies sport a limited selection, and the socks and the men's wear are great. Always wondered why the men get great basics in most department stores and there are fewer attempts to sell them pseudo trendy unfavourable cuts and painfully unattractive colour combinations. And remember GAP got American sizes. So their "small" corresponds to (south) European "medium" and Asian "large". GAP please stick to giving your customers no nonsense basics because that's what you're good at.

Everything is made in Hong Kong and we loved the idea of buying something that is not mass-produced. I got some hair tube wraps, a t-shirt and some jewelry: prices are on the expensive end but I got very quality, unique items that I did not see anywhere else during my stay so all in all, it was a good trade.
