Complaint about rudeness and unprofessionalism Dear Doctor's…read moreOffice, Today I underwent the UroCuff procedure, for which I paid my copayment. Before the procedure, I was told that a cuff would be applied, and I expected the procedure to be performed accordingly. I arrived with a full bladder, following all recommendations, but the procedure was done incorrectly, without the cuff, and I was not given any explanation as to what was actually measured. Afterward, I was simply told that the procedure had been completed. I do not understand what procedure this was and what exactly I paid my copayment for. In addition, your staff member, Masha, behaved rudely and unprofessionally. She addressed me in an overly familiar manner ("on ty"), hung up the phone on me, and even said, "I don't want to talk to YOU!" This is absolutely unacceptable when dealing with a patient. I came for professional medical service, not to your home, dear Masha, and certainly not for familiarity or disrespect. Unfortunately, the correctness of the procedure is in serious doubt. It was performed without the cuff, without any explanation, and I still do not know what was actually measured. If the cuff was not used, then perhaps it was a different procedure altogether -- in which case the copayment might also be different. This is absolutely unacceptable in medical practice. I am a patient who came for professional care, not to be humiliated or treated disrespectfully. Dear Masha, I am not calling you personally; I am calling the doctor's office to receive qualified answers and explanations. What was this procedure that was performed without the cuff? What is its correct name? What exactly did you measure? Why was I charged a copayment for something that was performed incorrectly? I demand that the management investigate this situation, provide me with clear explanations, and take appropriate measures regarding the rude and unprofessional behavior of your staff member. This is not just disappointing -- it is deeply disrespectful to me as a patient. Sincerely, Vlad

I had surgery yesterday, and wanted to take a moment to let do this review, as this was my first…read moresurgery ever, and I'm very please with the staff on the second floor. They are definitely 5 STARS. The reception ladies were also excellent, Norma was great, told me my Surgeon was the best, and she was genuinely excited for me. Jonathan was my nurse prior to the operation. Even before he took me to the bed, he kept checking on me on the waiting area. He made sure I was ok, and at least 4 times, gave me an update and kept me informed and at ease. This was my first surgery ever, and I cannot thank God enough for putting me in the hands of these professionals. Jonathan helped me so much, until the last second. He is kind, caring, and a very good/professional nurse. The anesthesiologist came to talk to me and answered all my questions. The staff kept calling my friend who is caring for me, and kept her informed every step of the way. As far as my Surgeon, Dr. Shuster, words cannot describe how amazing, wonderful, excellent he is. From my first visit to the operation, he gave me his undivided attention, and made me feel so safe. I also want to mention Bianca, who is an OR nurse, who said she would take good care of me, and was very warm and friendly. I woke up and the nurse from the recovery room, Lori Neena, took such great care of me. She game me ice and some crackers, made sure to call my contact, game me my bag and phone, kept offering me drinks or food, and made sure I wasn't in pain. She kept me so comfortable and warm and safe. Her level of professionalism and even removing my IV, was amazing. I am so happy that the above professionals worked on me. Thank God and thanks to MHS.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent hospital stay. I want to begin by saying that the nurses…read morewere great, as they always are. They were kind, attentive, and compassionate throughout my stay. Unfortunately, my experience with other members of the hospital staff was completely different. My biggest concern began when I felt that the doctor was not listening to me as a patient or taking seriously what I was physically experiencing with my illness. I know my body, and I was trying to communicate that something was not right. After speaking with a social worker and continuing to advocate for myself, the doctor finally ordered an additional test to determine whether there was another issue that could explain what I was experiencing. While I was waiting for this test and for the doctor to determine a plan that would allow me to safely go home with something to help control my headaches, I had an extremely upsetting interaction with a social worker named Maria. Her approach made me feel as though the hospital bill was more important than my health, my well-being, and what I was physically going through. The first time Maria entered my room, she did not properly introduce herself or explain what department she was from. I had to ask one of the nurses for her name. When she came back to my room a second time, she finally identified herself, but her attitude and the way she addressed me were very unprofessional. During our first interaction, she asked whether I was staying or leaving. I attempted to explain that the doctor's plan was to find something I could safely go home on that would help control my headaches and that I was still planning to leave that same day. Before I could finish explaining the plan of care, she rudely interrupted me and began discussing the possibility of me being responsible for the bill if I stayed. I explained that I had already spoken with another caseworker who had gone over the situation with me, so I understood what could happen financially. Her response to me was essentially, "If you want to pay the bill, that's fine with me." I found this response extremely insensitive and inappropriate, especially considering that I was a patient who was still sick, in pain, and waiting for additional testing. The interaction became even more upsetting when she made another comment about me paying the bill as she walked out of my room. Shortly afterward, someone came into my room and handed me paperwork regarding the bill. At that point, I was so frustrated and upset by how the entire situation had been handled that I threw the paperwork away. My concern is not simply about receiving a bill. I understand that hospitals have financial policies and procedures that must be followed. My issue is with the lack of compassion, professionalism, and respect shown when communicating those policies to a patient who is actively dealing with a medical issue. There is a time, place, and appropriate way to discuss financial responsibility without making a patient feel as though money matters more than whether they are medically stable or feeling better. It is very sad when a patient leaves a hospital feeling as though the priority was whether the bill would be paid rather than whether the treatment they received actually helped them. Patients come to hospitals because they are sick, scared, in pain, and looking for help. They deserve to be heard by their doctors and treated with dignity and compassion by every member of the hospital staff. Again, I truly appreciate the nurses who cared for me. They were wonderful. However, the lack of communication from the doctor and, especially, the dismissive and insensitive interaction I experienced with Maria significantly affected my overall hospital experience. No patient should be made to feel that their financial responsibility is more important than their physical well-being while they are still actively receiving care.

I absolutely LOVE this office, they are an overarching GenMed practice. I met them 4-5 yrs ago and…read morethey have been incredibly attentive. Spending ample time with me at each appointment no matter how significant or insignificant it was. They are absolutely thorough, working to cover every base. Albeit I am not good at "following instructions" like going to see the referrals for preventative consultations. They do make sure they at least make the recommendations. I believe that as a Dr's Office the can be as involved or not involved as the patient wants them to be. Fortunately, my health is ok and it's my choice to have them be involved as needed. For others I know there is great follow up to appointments and for results. The staff is incredibly attentive also, in fact, I just called in to have my meds adjusted and refilled and was attended to immediately. This kind of practice is hard to find in the world of managed healthcare. I highly recommend them and would tell you to read the bad reviews, but don't pay too much attention to them as, I personally, never experienced that kind of treatment. 5 Stars to the Dr, his PA's and Staff!
