I am writing in regard to my experience as a post-operative patient of Dr. Anthony Michael…read moreSciascia, II, MD (License No.: 16951), (Dr. Sciascia for future references), an Emergency Physician with Renown Health Systems. The following link will take you the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners where you can enter his last name and review his previous medical background and training (https://nsbme.mylicense.com/verification/Search.aspx). Earlier this week, I had the misfortune of interacting with Dr. Sciascia in one of the Emergency Rooms (ER) associated with Renown Medical Center. I have never come into contact with such a rude, condescending, and offensive health care provider. I should note that I, too, am a doctor and Federal Law Enforcement Officer, so I deal with difficult personalities on a daily basis. I would also like to note that I would never treat any of my patients, no matter who they are or what they've done, the way Dr. Sciascia treated me. This is unacceptable, and I intend on bringing this to the attention of anyone who may come into contact with this physician, someone who should not be allowed to treat patients. When I went to the ER, I was two days post-op, and in a considerable amount of pain. As I previously mentioned, I was unlucky to have Dr. Sciascia pick up my case. From the first moment I met him, there was something odd about his demeanor and he had the worst bedside demeanor I have ever witnessed. My friend that accompanied me to the ER said the exact thing, and she actually picked up on this vibe before I did. As an aside, all of the nurses were flabbergasted by my account of what occurred during my interactions with Dr. Sciascia. Long story short, Dr. Sciascia essentially accused me of drug-seeking, and told me that he didn't believe that I was actually experiencing pain, despite being 2 days postop. Dr. Sciascia was literally trying to instigate an argument with me, which I refused to engage in. He compared to me heroin addicts, which I am not, as well as misusing my pain medication, which I did not. Dr. Sciascia then compared me to other patients he has seen with "broken bones sticking" sticking out of their skin and that they refused to take any medication at all. First of all, I dislike being compared to other people, especially when their injuries are not even close to what my surgery or pain entailed. As a man, Dr. Sciascia does not know how painful certain 'female conditions' can be, so it is extremely rude to dismiss as if it meant nothing. Dr. Sciascia invalidated the pain I was experiencing, and I refuse to let anyone treat or speak to me in such a manner. Prior to being released from the ER, he informed me that I was going to be prescribed Gabapentin, a drug with which I am familiar. Gabapentin, also known as Neurontin, is a medication used for neuropathic pain, not postoperative pain. I asked Dr. Sciascia how that would be helpful in my situation, and he literally said, "I don't know." My friend advocated for me by asking for something that actually helped me, and he switched it to a muscle relaxant, which I refuse to take. I am unfamiliar with that medication, and I have lost trust in doctors in Renown's ER. More than one nurse I came into contact with during my several hour stint in the ER informed me that Dr. Sciascia "has a really weird demeanor...[and] has no bedside manner." They said more, but I hope you get where I am coming from. I will be taking this to the medical board of NV, as well as any site on which a review can be posted. Dr. Sciascia caused more harm than good, as I was extremely upset when leaving the ER, and I was still in pain. Given that I have only had one experience with Dr. Sciascia, I cannot comment on his overall competence as an ER Physician, and it would be unethical of me to do so. I can only speak to my personal experience with Dr. Sciascia, which was so horrific that I will never return to that ER for fear of coming into contact with him again. I am writing this review in hopes that others will read this and steer clear of Dr. Sciascia, if at all possible. If you want to be treated like a human being, find another doctor. Further, as a doctor myself (not an MD), I am a strong advocate for those who may not have the knowledge, access, or resources to go up against a physician. This is NOT over. Thank you for reading.

We were so frustrated, however I am glad that Dr. Sciascia (pronounced "Sha-sha") was able to treat him. Although the ER was incredibly busy that day, Dr. Sciascia made an effort to find the root of the problem without pushing him to have unnecessary medications, labs, etc. He suggested some over the counter meds we could purchase, gave us a prescription, and referred him to an allergist. Most importantly, he took the time to answer all of our questions and check on him before we left. It was the most efficient and caring ER visit we had. Plus, he's hilarious and super personable. Highly recommended!

I kept being told that he was fully booked and I would get "squeezed in" for consultation.. After seeing him a couple of months I kept being treated like a "squeezed in" patient which made me feel uncomfortable at best. My health kept declining and I went ahead with the radioiodine treatment for my Graves Disease. Dr. Kuhadiya started seeing me by teledoc only and became less and less informative with what I had to do to prepare for the radioiodine treatment. He failed to mention I needed to set up a special appointment for important labs and tests, he failed to mention I had to do the lid diet to help the radioiodine work and he stopped answering all my questions and stopped seeing me period! I had the radioiodine treatment over a month and a half ago and I still haven't had a single appointment in person or on line nor have I started medication for my thyroid!! Had I known I would be left to do this on my own without any help or information that could guide me through this extremely difficult illness and procedure, I would have gone to California to seek proper help with doctors who are more experienced and prepared to help someone like me. I'm getting sicker and sicker, I can barely move, my muscles are extremely sore, I get nauseated all the time, my sugars are constantly through the roof among other things! I already went through the abuses of many doctors in this small crappy town who can't treat, manage nor detect and resolve issues they specialize in and now I'm left on my own with no help. I don't know why it's so difficult to help people like me that have the insurance and can pay for whatever treatment is necessary, can clear payments and show up on time and still not get proper care! I'm not asking for anyone to care but I am asking for individuals in the health care industry to do their damn jobs!!!!! Thanks for nothing! Because of people like you I advocate against donating organs because if people like me can't get proper care that has the potential to shorten my life, then I refuse to donate my organs in exchange for the horrible neglect I've received. I can't plan for special occasions, I can't plan a vacation, I can't even anticipate ahead of time whether or not I can attend my only daughter's graduation because of my health! I would love to take her to a concert, hell I would love to be able to just take her to the mall! I know I showed up to your office just a few months ago, but according to my projections on how I've been treated before, I know there is nothing anyone is willing to do for me here especially if I can't even secure an appointment! I say it again, thanks for nothing and I will never stop advocating against donating organs especially us people of color who get ignored!

After a week on crutches in a splint, I went for a post-op appointment and had the stitches removed and transitioned into a weight-bearing boot. I will be four weeks in the boot then six weeks of PT before being able to get back to playing pickleball. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Dodd, his PA Gil and the entire staff at Tahoe Forest Orthopedics and Tahoe Forest PT. Dr. Dodd was great in explaining the surgical procedure and clearly has fantastic surgical skills. A genuinely terrible surgeon…read more I have bad luck in general and even worse when it comes to doctors. I was diagnosed with a pelvic fracture after a motorcycle accident. I decided to consult with Dr. Kieckbusch after an unfortunate recommendation from a nurse in the local emergency room. Dr. Kieckbusch was a little too eager to perform surgery--which should have been a red flag for me--even though I wasn't in very much pain, and I now question if my initial diagnosis was even correct. Fast forward to post surgery in the hospital: After waking up, I immediately think something is terribly wrong. I'm in excruciating pain and begging my wife to go find the doctor. Kieckbusch informs us that the level of pain I'm experiencing is completely normal after surgery and opts to increase my pain meds. I grind my teeth and somehow make it through the four day hospital stay. One week after surgery, and I KNOW something is wrong. My morning erections are pointing straight down (that's right, DOWN) and send pain radiating throughout my entire body. For the first time in my life I'm actually dreading the thought of having a boner. Three weeks post surgery: After seeing my family doctor and then a urologist, it turns out that two screws had come loose from Kieckbusch's surgery and were most likely jingling around in my pelvic cavity the entire time without him knowing or caring. Even worse, the urologist told me that Kieckbusch damaged my penile suspensory ligaments during the surgery, which explained the painful and wonky erections I'd been having ever since. Oh, and here's the best part--the urologist tells me that after repairing the damage to my suspensory ligaments, I'll lose at least an inch of length and probably still have less erection stability than I'm used to. No more cowgirl for me. I'm struggling not to cry as I type this...
