The wife and I hit this place up last Wednesday for a post-Lenten repast and came away very impressed! It's a culinary dining experience and, while you pay for it, it'll make for a nice treat every now and then. We started with the Meat Fedora: Quality meats, all around. However, the bill of the cap was a bit tough. I went with the Buck Massacre and enjoyed the tang imparted by the peppery blood sauce. My wife had the Beer Battered Bear. I was excited to see how pure rage might season the meat and, while an excellent dish, it tasted like most farm-raised black bear I've had in the past. Perhaps we happened to score a mellow bear :( Because it's lent I wasn't able to try any of their meat cocktails, but we finished with the Pot Belly Pudding, which rounded out the meal well. 4 stars and not 5 for the price and a few off notes. FYI - I saw a pair of their Meat Boots in the gift case and, while very stylish, think motorcycle boots not cowboy boots. That could make a difference for some...

It was packed. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was wonderful even though it was only her second day. The food was exactly what we were expecting and overall we were happy with our choices. I did give this restaurant a 3/5 for how chaotic the restaurant felt. They made a couple take their drinks and belongings and move to a different table so we didn't have to sit at a high top with a toddler which we appreciated but aAlso, 3 different waitresses delivered 3 wrong food items to our table.

We got a pizza steak sub and fries, I've never had one like it and I'm obsessed. The marina and cheese covered steak was topped with lettuce, tomato, raw onion and a balsamic dressing that was to die for, definitely took the sub to the next level. The plate of fries were fresh cut and large enough to feed a family of 4. The restaurant was spacious and clean with a really cool video game table/console in the center. I also thought it was cool how the owners had assigned each menu item bat codes that employees simply scan when ringing up, very efficient. It's a shame we live 3 hours away, this place would be our go to for subs.

After couple hours of walking around Altoona,I wasn't very excited to try this place,it's looked…read moreshabby,it was construction work everywhere around, dusty and dirty. But we decided to not spend more time for finding something else and stepped in. It was very charming, surprisingly well kept,of course old,but in a good way. Menu was intriguing, modern and seasonal, which I value the most. Waiter was engaging in our menu exploration and was knowledgeable. Now to the food.. cauliflower appetizer made as General Tso was one other best cauliflower in my entire life. Lightly fried, not mushy, but with exact chicken like texture in divine sauce, kicking spicy with sweet undertones. In the same way not overpowering to forget about cauliflower itself. A+ for that dish!!! Pirogi was a little doughy on my opinion, but taste was good. Asian bowl with salmon had great flavor profile: cabbage salad was beautiful and freshly crisp, carrots were marinated perfectly with slight vinegary flavors, bok choy was unbelievably delicious. I asked for medium salmon, mine was almost well done, but taste was good and rice in the middle wasn't sticky and flavorful, but had watery texture and was bland. Overall, this is an amazing festival of flavors and technically challenging menu. Bravo!!!

I'll start with the PROS: store staff is friendly and the store is clean. Police frequent the store…read moreat night for gas or whatever it is that police buy at Sheetz late at night. It sells beer and wine and has a place to dine in on your MTO purchase. CONS: Store always seems short staffed. One cashier sometimes checking out ten people, I'd imagine they have high turn-over rates. The food prep people always seem short staffed as well. I've also had another customer tell me that he used to work there and while the cashier is drowning, there is usually a manager just sitting in the back room. My biggest complaint: There are always people "hanging out" inside and out. A lot of shady people, I may add- quick story: I won $7.00 on a scratch off recently and went to the lotto machine to check my ticket. It asked if I wanted to redeem my card. I needed actual cash to buy a shirt from work so I wanted cash since I rarely carry cash, not more tickets. I walked over to the cashier to ask a question and redeem my ticket at the register. Turned and looked at the machine, like a Ninja some dirtball quickly hit the yes button (I didn't know at that moment that was what he was doing) redeeming my ticket for more tickets and then left the store. The cashier told me that my scratch off had already been redeemed. The cashier and manager were apologetic but there was nothing they could do, which I understand. In the middle of the afternoon, there were 3 guys just "hanging out" at the tables, one arguing loudly with his girlfriend calling her an effing b while kids are walking by. Oh and the kids, plenty of young children loitering with their parents at 1130 at night as well. Also, often an abundance of lecherous pervs (again sitting outside) leering at you if you're a female like they are some stereotypical construction worker from an 80's movie. This is quickly becoming 13th Street Sheetz. Take out the seating so the creepers have nowhere to sit around and take up space, making other customers feel uneasy. I'm sure they used to get a lot of hospital staff... probably not anymore. They'd more than likely rather drive to Ivyside Sheetz.. I can imagine it's only a matter of time before robberies start to become commonplace. I hope not but if these issues aren't addressed, it's inevitable.
