True rating is a 2.75 out 5 stars. Ordered and picked up 2 for 1 pizza promo for supper tonight. We ordered 2 medium pizzas with 4 toppings each. It was my first time trying Lugano's. For one pizza we wanted pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes. The second was with bacon, pepperoni, salami and hot peppers. Both pizzas hardly tasted of any tomato pizza sauce except right by the upper crusts. The first pizza didn't appear or taste of any mushrooms and had very little sausage. Also, the sun-dried tomatoes were plentiful but were burnt black making it a not pleasant looking or tasty pizza . The second pizza didn't appear or taste of bacon and salami so it didn't come close to a meat lovers styled pizza. Am a little disappointed with the pizzas we had tonight with the quality and taste. It was bland and their medium sized pizza was rather small. Heard such great things about the pizza and thought i would give it a try and support a local restaurant. i might try their pizza again but instead of a whole one, i'll go in person and get a couple of individual slices. My feelings on this place are pretty similar to what Kris U said. If you're looking for a perfectly done "Canadian" style pizza than this is your spot. Fairly thick dough, sweet but well-seasoned sauce and fairly good quality toppings. I've tended to come by on weekends and they're fairly busy which is good to ensure the pizza-by-the slice is still nice and fresh. In fact, I think all I've ever ordered was by the slice. If they really do sell pizzas at 2 for 1 than I could see ordering regularly from here if I lived in the area. Otherwise, solid but also not exceptional pizza. read more

Plenty of reviews for this tiny local pizza shop in downtown Burlington, so when visiting my wifes grandmother over the weekend and she recommended we order takeout from Lugano's, I was intrigued by their 4 star average and higher number of reviews for such a small place. It's an average looking joint, takeaway or delivery, not really anywhere to sit past maybe enjoying a slice on the fly, but that's ok. We called ahead and placed an order for two large pizzas. A large 1 topping is 12.99 while a medium 1 topping is 9.99 (so cheap). I'm glad we went with the larges because I would say that they were the size of most other pizza place mediums. But still, 12.99 you cannot go wrong. We added some extra toppings and the grand total came out to less than $30 tax and tip in. We walked over and picked the pizzas up 20-25 min later per instruction and they were already ready and waiting - so they are fast as well. Server had some wonderful tattoos, near full body and I liked them so much I had to compliment him on them, if you're stopping in take a look, they're epic. Got the pizza home and it was pretty good. Hot still, decent amount of toppings and nice sauce. Dough was a bit heavy and bread rich, but overall a decent pie. Now why 3 stars, 3 on Yelp is A-OK, nothing bad, nothing great, but hits the mark. By comparison a 5 star pizza would be like the Abruzzo's or Pizza Librettos, and the 4 stars would be the less expensive but still higher quality pizza you get when you're being fancy and ordering in for a nicer pizza dinner at home. I traveled all the way from Toronto to try out Lugano's as I heard it was an amazing pizza in the Burlington downtown core. As I remind you, Toronto is about 45 mins - 1 hr away and I can tell you it was worth the drive! The pizza sauce was something that kicked my tastes buds around and knocked out only to wake up to a hospital with a hot pizza nurse. To be honest, I probably downed 75% of the pizza and I'm a small guy. I couldn't move for like 2 hours but i can say it was totally worth it. So incredibly disappointed in what this establishment has become. Have been going here for over 10 years as it's a staple in the downtown core. People have always been friendly and pizza is delicious. Had a few people over tonight, and we decided we hadn't had Lugano's in a while. We ordered an extra large 3 topping pizza and was told it would be 40 minutes to an hour. With delivery and tip it came to 33$ Pretty steep I would say. I live less then 2 km away from Lugano's, and an hour and 10 minutes go by. The driver arrived shortly after, and we were all pretty hungry at this point. Now I have had cold pizza delivered, not a huge deal. But this was beyond cold pizza. It was like pizza left in the fridge. Not fresh and very dingy looking. Went to break a slice away and it was cold to the touch. I called Lugano's and was told they would send another pizza, but would be around 40 minutes. 2 hours to have a pizza. I told them it would be quicker if I just heat up the pizza in the oven and then at it. I asked if there would be some sort of credit towards our 30$+ cold pizza and they told us 10$ is all they could do, and that they "don't just give away free pizza". Come on, you made us wait over an hour for cold pizza that we needed to re cook. If I do order from here again, I'll be sure to pick up and not get delivery. If your looking for hot fresh pizza for delivery, don't order from here. read more

I was down by the Burlington waterfront the other day just killing some time between appointments and as I walked up Brant St., I saw Lugano's with about 6 people inside lined up for pizza. So....I thought I'd give it a try. Only had a pepperoni slice and a pop, but I must say, the slice was much better than average as it seems the sauce they use is much tastier than what the other big chains tend to use use - with a slightly sweeter taste IMO. Very good pizza all in all. The storefront and store is pretty spartan and there's only seating for 3 people at one small table they have in front of the counter. So this is primarily a pick-up / take-out spot....dining in is out of the question. If an entire pizza is like the pepperoni slice I had, I suspect it'd be just as good. And if you ask for some that extra ' home -made ' sauce on it - so much the better. Hope to pick up a full pizza one day with a different combo of toppings to see if it's really as good as their pepperoni slice is. But, if you're in the Brant / Lake Shore area - and looking for a quick and tasty bite to eat - a slice from Lugano's would more than fit the bill. Good pizza. read more

Luganos pizza is amazing. Its so good that despite repeatedly AWFUL service, I still come back here. When you catch them on a good day, the pizza is out of this world good. When you catch them on a bad day, your pizza will be cold, slow, expensive, and depending on who made it, it may or may not have spit in it. You read that last sentence right. While waiting for a pizza, we overheard the young asian fellows making my pizza say, "order 5 meats on a pizza!? Just the expensive toppings? I should spit in this fuckers pizza!" Naturally I did not eat my $30 Large pizza that day. Ive heard other horror stories about the owners kid (who was probably the same guy who talked openly about spitting in my pizza) threaten to stab another regular customer. And dont even think about getting delivery. You will be waiting over an hour most nights. And when you do get your pizza, theres a 50/50 chance it will be cold. Again, on a good day, their pizza will blow your mind! On a bad day, throw the pizza in the garbage and chalk it up to a loss. If you try complaining, chances are owner will just yell at you and tell you that you're crazy. Its like The Soup Nazi turned up to 11. In summation, AMAZING pizza, but ATROCIOUS service. They just need to get rid of some of the people working there, as they are sinking this wonderful tasting pizza shop, and are clearly NOT fit to work in the service industry. I love the pizza in Lugano! There's something about the sauce that makes all the difference--it's a little sweeter than most tomato sauces but it's so delicious. The dipping sauce is also a must-try (made in-house, I think), and you can get a lot of toppings for pretty cheap. There's virtually no seating, so it's probably best to do take-out or delivery, but if you want to grab a cheap slice when the weather's nice you can just walk across the street to Spencer Smith Park and the waterfront. Lugano 2 For 1 Pizza has one of the best pizza crusts I have ever had! There isn't much competition in this class with a great balance of quality and price. This Hamiltonian reviewer makes the trip across the golden horseshoe for this pizza and it's still amazingly hot when I get back home. The only reason this restaurant doesn't get 5-stars is due to some toppings not being as plentiful as I would prefer. It does taste amazing however and I am never shy about tipping this staff for their efforts. If you haven't tried this pizza, you've been missing out. read more
