Great chairs for sleeping after trans-Atlantic flight
    Dia D.

The Lufthansa lounge is near the A gates and the closest lounge just after clearing security if you are a transit passenger. The senator lounge is within the regular lounge in Terminal 2 and it was a great place to sleep during a long layover after a trans-Atlantic flight. When we first arrived in the early morning the lounge was empty, but it was full by mid morning while the outer lounge was empty. They had a very large selection of breakfast food. The full English breakfast options included scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and a very tasty patty if some sort. Of course, there were German breakfast options of meat, cheese, and great bread. There was also yogurt, fruit, and three types of cold cereal.

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge is truly a step above and light years ahead of the United Club at Newark airport. The Senator Lounge is tucked quietly through the Lufthansa business class Lounge and is a true oasis at T2. The food offerings are robust and far superior to the breakfast offered on the United flight over to London. They have a full selection of both hot and cold foods, full bar and simply stellar, friendly service. Wifi service is also free and strong throughout the lounge. The only thing missing in the lounge are showers for transiting passengers. If they were to add showers similar to the ones at the ANA lounge in Narita, it would be a 5 star product.

The perfect lounge. Friendly staff great food and all the drinks you need. Clean and feels like great

Very nice lounge, though I did not see that it has showers which the United Global First lounge does. The food is pretty good but again, not as good as the United Polaris food. Depending on which ticket I have and which lounge I'd be eligible for I'll prefer the United but the Lufthansa Lounge definitely is a good option too. The advantage is that you can go to the Lufthansa Lounge with any higher Gold status of a Star Alliance flight, whereas the United Global First lounge has a higher requirement (must be international flight, etc.).

Shrimp Curry for lunch, and a variety of healthy salads. The cauliflower salad was especially delicious. Mmmmh. Best lounge food in T2.

As I had said in my previous review, the Senator lounge has a wonderful breakfast spread. Well... It has a wonderful lunch spread too. On offer was a delicious shrimp curry full of plump shrimp. Then there was a fresh pasta dish, as well as numerous healthy salads - the highlight of which was the cauliflower tomato salad with its tangy vinaigrette. Lots of mid priced alcohol on offer including a very palatable self pour sparkling wine. DO&CO really is a fantastic caterer. Oh and I have to make a separate paragraph to note the absolutely SPECTACULAR homemade hazelnut biscuits. I am still dreaming about them. If someone from the lounge reads this review, please do share the recipe. Hands down the best Star Alliance lounge for food in LHR. After you have your meal here, head down to T2B to relax at the far bigger UA lounge, where you can take a shower and order custom made cocktails.

The Lufthansa Lounge is at Heathrow terminal 2 is brand new and was a pleasant surprise (compared to the dire lounges that were available before). The lounge is spacious with plenty of seats available. There are different types of seats so both proper tables, chairs and space to sit and work at more of a proper desk. Plenty of places to charge phone, comouter, pad or whatever one wants to charge. Added plus that there are both UK and Europeans plugs so no need fo adapters. The food selection was pretty decent (three warm dishes, two soups, some cold dishes and salads, fruits as well as desserts). Drinks were pretty standard (not up to par with the BA lounge in T5 but still good). Free wifi, some TVs and plenty of newspapers and magazines (different languages) makes this a very good lounge by European standars. Happy to spend an hour or so here.

It's new. It's impressive. It's spacious. A lot of space between seats or groups of seats. It has power outlets with eu and U.K. Plugs. It's got a very good selection of booze including some nice scotch (balvenie) As I've found typical with Lufthansa the food is mehhh. Here, they substituted bad German for bad English food. Deserts looked nice though I didn't try. It you have the option, and if you're flying on starAlliance with gold status, you do. It's worth trying out. No matter what partner you are flying you have access. I'm making the rounds as I'm in LHR often.

Not being in Terminal 5 is already a winner. Drinks and food are actually not bad. Not having to fly BA always ensures extra stars.

The food buffet was very nice and had a good variety of pastries, salads, sandwiches, yogurts, fruit, pizzas, cold cuts, and Spanish dishes. They also had a bunch of flavored waters, fruit juices, cappuccino machine, bottled waters, beer, wine and more. A lot of the food was very good and this was the perfect recharge spot before getting on my flight. The lounge had lots of seating and great views of the duty free shopping area below us.

At one point it was considered the top ranked lounge worldwide, and I can easily see why. Even with the current reduced amenities, it's still easily better than 95% of other lounges. There is a unique elevator to take up from premium check-in to the lounge, they make sure you feel the exclusivity. The elevator brings you to the lobby/check-in counter which was quick and easy by showing your ticket then in you go! The design of the lounge is bright and light, with a neutral/natural color scheme, plenty of windows, skylights, wooden herringbone floors with curved wooden banquets weaving around the central lounge area. Super sleek lines undulate through the room in the form of natural waves on the floor surface--raised and lowered sections create a comfortable flow--linked by smooth walkways and short flights of stairs. There are swinging chairs, (used to be some hammocks,) lounge chairs and table seating all spaced out very comfortably so you never feel squeezed too close to a neighbor. The lounge also never gets overcrowded. Food options are premium here, you can select from prepared food which is in a lengthy glass display case and they can plate it for you, check out the cocktail, wine, beer and liquor at I believe one of two bars, or select made-to-order appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks from by scanning a QR code. Staff serves food directly to the location of the scanned QR code, each plate is easily restaurant quality, and tasty. And did I mention multiple choices for champagne that waitstaff serve directly to you at your seat? Speaking of staff--everyone was very courteous and friendly, and seemed keen to help make your short stay as enjoyable as possible. Other amenities include spacious individual use bathrooms with fully stocked showers for when you need to feel fresh, a pool table, shoe shine, on-site mini spa (heard appts get booked up really quick tho--this used to be a full service salon if you can imagine that), gym/yoga area with peloton exercise equipment, wifi and workstations. There's an outdoor terrace from where I had the pleasure of watching a sunset over the runway. After playing an hour of pool, enjoying a couple glasses of champagne and an excellent meal (butternut squash soup, steamed bao appetizer, pan-roasted fish with vegetables, chocolate chip cookie, and creme brûlée (not pictured)), I felt spoiled! If I have the chance to come again I certainly wouldn't hesitate!

Reason being relative to the amount of traffic this terminal gets, the lounge capacity is very limited. The waitlist can be up 45+ minutes and it's not guaranteed that everyone on the waitlist can enter before they need to board their flight. This time it appeared they were giving some priority to people who had to board sooner as long as I was willing to share a table with another customer. In this lounge the staff assign seats to each customer which isn't something you usually see, though made sense based on the small size. Since I had only about 15 minutes prior to boarding time I wasn't choosy about comfort, really just wanted to grab a quick breakfast prior to getting on the flight, so this was fine by me. There's a small bar with breakfast selection of the day being "English breakfast" items: scrambled eggs, baked beans, crispy bacon, sausage. They also had some fruit/veg juices, pancakes (via a nifty little pancake machine), a bar with limited alcoholic drinks, and regular coffee/tea options. Functional enough for a quick stop though less comfortable than some other international lounges in terms of space, but still better than many lounges in the US when comparing quality of food.

The line was out the door with a 30 minute wait (and frankly not my favorite lounge, see my separate review of that one), and thankfully they told us to head to My Lounge which had more availability. They are both run by the same company, with My Lounge being recently remodeled and reopened (previously Club Aspire) in the past few months. Walking into the lounge it's decorated with a cozy vibe, think textured brick walls, warm jewel tone tweed textures on the furniture with medium wood accents in the floor and bookshelves, reminiscent of a modern family room. Seating inside looks roughly enough for about 100 people, at mostly lounge chairs and couches. There's decent spacing so that it doesn't feel too crowded. Check-in counter is immediately inside the entrance, at around 10:30am it wasn't too crowded, we were able to enter right away. Later on when we left around 1pm there was a short wait of about 10-15 minutes. Directly to the right of the check-in, there's a small, more private lounge room with seating for about 8-10 which is where we parked ourselves. Walking left past the check-in counter the space opens up to a bar serving liquor and cocktails, and a food bar along the wall. They had breakfast food set out, including yogurt, smoothies, granola and cereal, cut fruit, bread and mini pastries, and warm food including all the elements of a traditional English breakfast including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, toast, roasted tomatoes, roasted potatoes. There was also a pancake station which I've seen at a couple other Europe lounges, and you can basically pour your own batter and it goes through a mini oven and pops out cooked on the other side. Around noon they also set out lunch food though we didn't end up eating much of that. Free WiFi is available and strong. There are screens scattered around the lounge with airline info though similar to other lounges no announcements are made, so you have to keep track of your own boarding time. Bathrooms are in decent shape. Normal hours are 5:00am to 10:00pm. Not a bad place to spend a few hours, would def stop by again if I lay over at Heathrow Terminal 3! We didn't have a whole lot of time between connections to order from the QR menu which could have made this review higher. First of all, it's a modern looking lounge with great accommodations. I love that they have a row of private & clean restrooms that have their own sink and scented diffusers. They are very spacious with no unpleasant smells that I could detect despite it being a public restroom. It appeared to be very well-maintained. The coffee & tea bar was a huge highlight. It had French croissant pastries and Union Hand-Roasted Coffee. It was the best part of the lounge in my opinion. The views of the runway were also wonderful. We saw some very large jumbo planes taking off and landing from our comfy seats. It was a relaxing lounge. We were there at breakfast time. The breakfast bar had a good variety. It could have been better had the English muffins been toasted. I'm not sure why British Airways doesn't have toasters in their lounges. What's the point of having butter nearby? I tried to make a bacon roll out of it, and it just didn't work for me. My husband asked if there was any way to toast it, and they said no. So, they won't toast it for you. I did see other rolls there that may have been a better choice but I'd already placed the muffin on my plate. Other than that, it was an okay buffet for a British breakfast. I didn't see the ice cream cart that everyone talks about. That may be because it was too early for that. There's a good selection of alcohol as well. I have a feeling that ordering from the made-to-order menu is the way to go here, and especially if they have that Loch Fyne salmon that I had on the way back from Edinburgh. It was still a nice upgrade from the typical British Airways Lounge. Hopefully I can update this review again when we return.
