It was a Thursday morning but they were extremely packed. It probably was the rush after the meteor shower evening. I ordered the country fried steak, my friends ordered the lemonade (homemade but SUPER TART!!), the last biscuits and gravy (this was gonna be my order too!), and the veggie omelet, and we ordered a regular French toast to share. Their homemade biscuit was hefty, but the gravy matched the biscuit. The workers were friendly and helpful when asking questions and for assistance. I loved all the homey decor, and the pictures. I was so happy to see a picture of Anthony Bourdain stopped here! Would definitely recommend coming here if you're on a stop into Joshua Tree.

Unfortunately, the food was just okay and definitely not worth waiting that long for. We did end up getting a few of our drinks comped, which I appreciated. Other than that, the pancakes were pretty mediocre, and the biscuits and gravy were just okay. Overall, I wouldn't recommend waiting that long for the food.

The blend was simple and yummy. It was big and I could only eat 1/2. The salsa was spicy and also flavorful. My partner had a torta and said the mess to eat it was worth it! Again, another good decision. The staff were friendly and helpful! We had a dog and so they let us take 2 chairs outside to eat. Thank you! The "ambience"was perfect for a late lunch as we were passing through town. I highly recommend this restaurant. As someone else said, don't let the location in a strip mall stop you.

Remembering that it had a high star count encouraged us to give this place a chance. All that being said, the food was pretty good, there was a small seating area, and the lady that helped was very nice. We ordered the birria torta, one chicken taco, one steak taco, and chicken strips with fries. Living in the Bay Area for most of my life (Hayward and San Jose), I can confirm that what we ordered was pretty tasty and worth the stop if you're craving Mexican on your journey. Two critiques - my husband says his fries could have been salted more, and I think something to level up this business would be to sell agua frescas or horchata. My phone was dead while we stopped there, so, sorry, no pictures. I give this place 4 out of 5 stars - food is pretty good, but I was looking for more flavor in the beef and broth of my birria torta with consummé.

It's one of those places to stop on the way to Vegas. Since it is a 50's diner theme, might as well check it out what's the hype is all about. The ambiance is I would say very old school (Back to the Future vibe). There's a lot of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe pics and memorabilia in this establishment, which is I'm sold to the hype. They have 50's juke boxes, as well.. so not too shabby! Their service is pretty chaotic at first, but once you get in line.. its smooth sailing from there. The gift shop is pretty much crowded because of the people window shopping or waiting for their diner experience. Their beeper doesn't reach on the outside of the restaurant, so we are forced to stay around the gift shop.. yeah that's sucky part lol. The food is surprisingly good and with a reasonable price. My girl and I ordered their burger combo that got us 2 sides for only $16.. can't complain with that especially on today's economy. Their malts and shakes are the star of any 50's diner theme restaurant. Oh yeah their classic chocolate shake hits the spot. Not too fancy and not too sweet for its ingredients, it just went down to my happy stomach :) Overall, not too bad and I actually recommend this spot to people on the way or back from Vegas to Cali :)
