Great place to grab a plate while waiting for my next flight. Amazing views of the tarmac, seating comfy and staff very pleasant. Ordered the Caprese and was not disappointed. Actually was filled and didn't eat all the cheese or the bread. Also got Vodka Tonic to wash it all down. 10/10 would stop here anytime I am going through Frankfurt. Do not come here if you're looking for a high quality, speedy service and great good. This place is great to kill some time because there are barely any servers and those who work there have are not putting on any effort. I guess they are the only proper sit-down restaurant at the moment and are seriously taking advantage of that. Also, beware that getting your check will take a while. The girl seemed seriously overwhelmed, because it took 20 minutes after I asked for it. Got a Spetzi (Coca Cola+Fanta) and a pizza Luicia. The drink was on point. The pizza not so much. I had a long layover in Frankfurt due to a delay. Due to the largeness of the airport and my worries about possibly getting back to the right area with sufficient time, I decided to stay put near gates Z, where my flight would depart from, instead of venturing out. Unfortunately, this area does not have comfortable seating nor does it have a priority pass lounge - it also does not include many sit down dining options. I chose to go here. It was Dec 31 around lunch, and I was immediately seated around lunch time (although I did see that some parties were turned away later). I ordered quite a bit of- a beer, spaghetti carbonara and some bruschetta. Service was fine - they weren't particularly friendly but direct. I was served pretty quickly for my beer and my food arrived on a little serving robot (I saw it wheel food around to other tables as well). Beer was great but food was mediocre. Pasta wasn't really up to par - quite salty and a little greasy (the plates that I saw passing by also looked a little oil-laden). The bruschetta was probably the most disappointing - 3 pieces were provided and I only ate half of one before I decided I would eat the toppings separately from the bread, which I left on the plate. There was so much oil that if I pressed my fork down in the bread, I could see pools of olive oil. Tomatoes were fine and tasty though. I thought they were a nice refreshing pairing to my pasta. Worst service with pasta with NO seasoning: My son and I had lunch at the restaurant. Alio Olio and i ordered had 0 seasoning and tasted like nothing. However, since it is an airport restaurant that is always busy, I did not say anything and quietly finished my meal. As we were finishing our meal, there were many people waiting in line, so I asked our server to bring the check so that other customers could be seated. We waited for 10 minutes, and despite making eye contact with the server multiple times, she neither brought the check nor asked us to wait. We then went to the register and asked if we could pay, but the server ignored us and continued helping other customers with non-urgent matters. After seating seven new groups and cleaning up our table, she once again went back to the kitchen, passing right in front of us. I said, "Can I please pay for this because we have waited over 10 minutes." To my surprise, a male chef came out of the kitchen and started to mock my comment with the entire crew in German. Although I did not understand everything they were saying, they kept repeating "10 minutes! 10 minutes!" and laughed together while shaking their heads. The chef and another server glared at me and my 11-year-old son. This is one of the most ridiculous experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The worst service ever. The restaurant is not at all full, but a long line at the gate waiting to be seated, several seated guests looking for someone to come serve but none of staff come for a long time and instead stand in group in front of the counter screen. As a date of April 8th, around 17:30, Me and my family had the most unpleasant experiences with all the staff at the restaurant. We were waiting to be seated and there was one waiter, who has an Arabic appearance and was short with dark hair, saw us and went back to the staff in the kitchen, who were loudly chatting. Found this little joint next to a sandwich/bar sort of restaurant and decided to go with Italian instead. The kitchen is open and the seating area has a nice view of the planes - it's got lovely seating and nice chic decor. That's where the positives end. There was a hostess who seated me and one waitress who ran around trying to serve everyone - it seemed like it would be much more efficient to have the hostess be a waitress as well. The food came out rather quickly, I ordered 'sphagetto aglio e olio e peperoncino.' The noodles were very thick and somehow childlike - as if a kid had picked out something bulky at the store and tried cooking noodles for the first time. Rather chewy. It was a bit underseasoned although it had a nice kick. The portion is reasonable,and ~12 euros wasn't bad in terms of European prices. If I'm ever in the airport again I'd come here again - but it wasn't by any means an amazing experience. But you get to sit on a comfy next to the windows overlooking the planes, so it could be worse. Regrettably they don't have a whole lot of beers to choose from (even for a non-beer drinker who would venture to try some while in Germany), and vegetarian options are rather limited. It's also located by the atrium where multiple wings of the terminal meet so I presume they get a lot of traffic this way. The restaurant is in an isolated area with other restaurants so it's away from the airport hallway traffic which is nice if you want to get away for a bit. The food is great to my liking being someone that is health conscious. I had the muesli and a cappuccino and both were very good. The muesli was made with fresh yogurt, fruit and granola. No added sweetener or sugar unless you ask for the honey. Very healthy and delusions! I would come here again for the food and ambience. The service however was slow even though there were only a handful of people in the restaurant. I hope they are more fully staffed during lunch. Second time was after I saw the other waitress whose section was MUCH larger carrying around my order looking for a home for it. Given my failure to get his attention to get a beer, I just got up and went to the kitchen to sleep if that was my order and it was! Who knows how long it had been sitting there. I saw my waiter intentionally walking towards the kitchen, so I go out of the way and let him do his job, sure enough it was mine and he brought it to the table. Time to eat, right? No silverware. He didn't even notice. He was off to the bar to talk to the bartender. One thing he was good at? Pouring beer. So I got up a third time to search out silverware. Was too hungry at that point, had run out of time and patience. I wasn't the only unhappy one. I tried spaghetti aglio & olio which is my favorite but did not like it more than the ones that i eat in İstanbul.. My husband ate gnocchi which was superb, and i left my spaghetti and ate his gnocchi :) You can watch the planes when you're having a nice time before your flight.. Its coffee is nice too..
