Had the Kaiserschmarn! So nice, ordered twice. Wrote a review the other day. Making me write another review.

A nice dining/pub option while in Frankfurt. NOTE: They have a new location. Double check their website for the actual address, since I've seen reviews stating that this placed has closed. We walked in without a reservation and got seated at the bar while we waited for a table to open. Great selection of food and drinks and a nice casual place to hangout. Recommend the Hunter's Schnitzel, and you can request to have the gravy on the side if you don't want it poured over your dish.

Excellent mushroom sauce and green sauce here. Nice and clean inside area. Service was upper class too.

Very nice upscale spot with really nice people that work there, the strudel and ice cream was delish, plus the digestives that were included...other than a drunk German getting pissy and yelling b/c they didn't have what he wanted, basically a big rude ass baby, it was a very pleasurable experience and it's close to the Hauptbahnhof.

Klosterhof now has a more modern vibe, though I wish I'd experienced the old Klosterhof charm. The menu features traditional German dishes, which were just good overall. The potato dumplings, however, were a bit squishy. An okay spot, but it didn't quite stand out.

My husband & I were looking for a restaurant that served German food while we were in Frankfurt. We wanted someplace that we could walk to, & I found Klosterhof (on Yelp) with lots of good reviews. We walked to the open door of the restaurant, saw the sign "wait to be seated". A moment later a friendly staff member waved us in to a table for (2). We started looking at the menu which was in German (but also English) with the items they had. My husband asked for a beer, consulted with a our wait staff & ordered up a tall glass of cold beer, I ordered a large Coke Cola. We asked if they had any chicken on the menu, she politely said no, but they had several turkey dishes. We then asked about pork & she said "yes" so we ordered up a pork schnitzel with roasted potatoes & mushroom gravy to serve one person. When the meal came to the table we thought "there's no way we could each have finished off a plate full of food that they served up for one person". It was a delicious pork schnitzel, my husband poured the mushroom gravy all over his pork portion (a full chop). I had mine just the way it was cooked. There was plenty enough food for us to share including a heaping portion of roasted potatoes that would be yummy with any Sunday roast style dinner! Later she brought my husband a bowl of cooked sauerkraut with more mushroom gravy. He was rolling his eyes in absolute heavenly pleasure. He told her he hadn't eaten that much in several years (and I concurred). Later she brought us out a delicious chocolate pudding dessert (that's what she called it). It was delicious as well, they brought (2) spoons with the dish. It was a plateful of a round chocolate pudding style mound, surrounded by a vanilla crème type of dessert that had crunchy (walnut I think dunked in some sugary concoction) that then had some whipped crème dolloped on each side of the plate. All I can say is that the plate was clean when they took it back. Everything was delicious from start to finish. The staff was attentive, but not overly so. The food was delicious & served hot or cold (depending on what the item was). We were both so full when we left that it was a good thing we needed to walk back to our hotel (to work off some of the calories from that dessert). We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great German food with a good portion sized meal. You can tell this is a new building, I'd read a lot of reviews about their beer garden (she said that was at their other location about a 5 minute walk from the one that I found on Yelp). The seating was nicely done, they adjusted the lighting before we left for dinner mood. We arrived before 5 so it wasn't crazy busy, but it was getting more crowded before we left. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good dinner without breaking the bank. We are so glad we found this gem of a restaurant while we were in Frankfurt.

This German gastropub is delicious enough that you need a reservation if you're going during peak times. I came here just for a quick snack and some Apple Wine. The Rapp's Apfelwein was not bad, nothing I'd go out of my way to get again, but definitely worth a try if you're in the area. Pairing the wine with their Homemade covered apple pie with vanilla sauce, I had a good time with my family enjoying good Germany eats at this gem of a restaurant!

Great beer garden! This place was authentic and a diamond in the rough. I'm so happy I search on Yelp and found this gem. The best brat and sauerkraut I've ever tasted and I'm not the huge fan of sauerkraut... these were delicious! My fiancé ordered the schnitzel, which was a lot heavier but pretty good as well. The house beer was superb... coming from a non beer drinker too. I love the decor and history of the place too. It's been around since the war. It use to be a place nuns and priest frequent. The staff was helpful and friendly, slightly rough around the edges but great sense of humor. This place is worth a gander... No fuss and plenty of good bet and authentic German food... cheers!!

Adorable little bar/restaurant. Only had a beer as we were just looking to rest our feet but we had a great experience. The service was very speedy!

And you're immediately sat at bench like accommodations. We had our dinner a bit early since we had just landed, but keep in mind during busier hours, you may have to share your table with another party. We ordered the spaetzle, the vegan schnitzel, a lemonade and an apple wine. It took a bit but everything (but the drinks) were delivered piping hot and generously portioned. The spaetzle itself was cheesy and tender, with a lovely pile of caramelized onions on top.The salad provided helped to cut through the richness. The apple wine was nice and tart. And for 3 euros they pour with a heavy hand! The vegan schitznel, could not tell it was vegan as all. Very similar to chicken, with a crisp outer shell. The herb sauce served on the side was a nice burst of freshness on an otherwise heavy dish. The staff was overall kind. Maybe a bit slow, but nothing to scoff at. The food was great, the alcohol was cheap. What better way to start off your German adventure?

I took a bus there so I can't comment on the parking situation in the area. Ambiance (4/5): From the outside, Atschel looks like a homey, traditional restaurant. Which is exactly what I was looking for when it cam to my first dining experience in Germany. There's a charming inside area with wooden walls as well as a patio area in the back. I sat inside. Drinks (4/5): Frankfurt is known for apelwein or apple wine. So when in Rome...I had the apelwein spritz which adds soda and Aperol. I will say that straight up apelwein is not my jam. It's nice to try while you're in Frankfurt, but it's too bitter and vinegar-ey for me. With that being said, when you mix it in with Aperol and soda, it's pretty solid. And if you're in a group, you can get the apelwein served in large stone mugs which is pretty cool. Outside of that, they have a lot of beer, as you would expect, and pretty much everything else. Service (4.5/5): I was pleasantly surprised with how friendly and attentive the service was (which is typically not the norm in Europe). Our waitress checked on me, thanked me and said goodbye as I was leaving, and overall, did a great job. Food (4/5): Since this is a traditional German restaurant, I had to go with another Frankfurt specialty: Viener schitznel with green sauce. Schnitzel just means a thin cutlet (often pork) that is breaded. The green sauce is made from seven herbs and while it's a tad bit herb-ey for my taste, it was still interesting to try. The dish is served with fried potatoes. Filling and hearty as you would expect from a German meal. For my first meal in Germany, it was a great start to my trip.

Rather than stare into the abyss of Gate Z-97, I did what any reasonable adult would do: I escaped on a train into town. Best decision of the trip. This place was an absolute oasis. Staff was warm, friendly, and spoke English (thank you, global civilization). Beer was exactly as advertised -- cold, honest, and doing the Lord's work. Food was excellent and arrived faster than my flight did. The place was immaculately clean, which I noticed immediately because that's what we do now. Even the bathrooms downstairs were spotless -- a bold move and one they pulled off flawlessly. If you're stuck in Frankfurt with a long layover, don't panic. Get on the train. Come here. Have a beer. Eat well. Remember why traveling used to be fun before airlines ruined it. Highly recommend. Would delay my flight again (not really, but you get the idea).

It does take a while, so I suggest ordering pretzels they come out faster. Food: pretzels were meh, just something to much on while waiting on food. The pork foot on the other hand, was so good, very moist, lots of flavor. The saucerkraut that came with it was warm as well and tasted differently that the ones that came with the sausage. The potato dumplings were my first time but they were interesting and chewy! The gnocchi was okay. Some pasta if u like, nothing amazing. I liked the sausage taster though I forget what it was called exactly, but it had different sauces and different sausages to try. I also enjoyed the radler, it was sweet enough to enjoy the beer and it's sweetness.

Unlike most of the restaurants in this hipster neighborhood, Solzer offers traditional German fare, and we started with Handkäs' mit Musik, a chewy, mochi-like cheese dressed with vinegar and onions and served with a slice of farmer's bread. One of their signature entrees was "Solzer's Krüstchenschnitzel," a breaded pork fillet served over a slice of grilled farmer's bread, topped with a fried egg and bacon, and served with green sauce (sour cream and herbs), horseradish, and a refreshing salad (lettuce, tomato, carrots, red onion, peppers, pumpkin seeds) on the side. This was a nicely balanced plate, and the different components came together nicely from the savory, crispy schnitzel to the herbaceous, creamy green sauce and the acidic, refreshing salad.
