A little Chinese oasis in the land of the Cajuns!…read more We popped over to Lake Charles for Fat Tuesday and while my wife was busy gambling, I wandered out to find my usual Cajun delicacies, but since most of the town was setting up for the parade and it was also the Lunar New Year, I decided to try this place since they were known for good egg rolls. What I walked into blew me away. This place is located on a run-down street on the back side of LC and as you pass shuttered shops and run down eyesores you question your choices, but as soon as you walk into this place, you can see the pride that has kept this restaurant alive since the 80's. Now I had a lunch special, so I really can't opine to all the food, but I can say that the egg rolls and the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce were good and served pleasantly and promptly. I'll be back when my wife gets the gambling itch, which seems to happen at least once a quarter.

We ordered the general tso's chicken, pepper steak, pork fried rice, and shrimp with lobster sauce. The pork fried rice and the shrimp with lobster sauce were the only dishes that tasted anything resembling what we ordered. The general tso's chicken was a bit bland and quite soupy, which was a bit shocking. The pepper steak was completely bland, and tasted more like tofu (with no seasoning). The fried rice that comes with entrees is quite boring, with almost no other ingredients or seasoning to make it palatable. At least the pork fried rice entree resembled what typical fried rice should taste like. Maybe the buffet is better?
