So look, you have to consider this place in context. If you've never been to a winery or one in a…read moretraditional region (Napa, WA, OR, Europe) then you'll love it. However you're in the middle of Missouri where grapes don't generate like traditional regions, and palettes are different. So if you're familiar with wineries and good wine this will be quaint but not your place. This is more of an event space with wine as an afterthought as evidenced by the gaggle of sororities and moms funneling in all day. Frankly, I was appalled at the event I attended for my daughters sorority. Everyone bought a $25 bottle of sweet or semi-sweet wine (that's this wineries specialty), dropped in a straw, and suckled their sippy cups. Their sweet wines are like wine coolers - and what college student doesn't like those? That should give context to the quality of wine and positioning of this space). Their traditional varietals all have sweet or fruit forward notes - Cabs are more like Pinots but lacking the depth and notes of a true spicy, bold cab. Past this, parking is like a festival, down a dirt road about a quarter mile walk from the front door. While I wouldn't return, it's a great place for an event and provides something unique to the area. And obviously the Greek system utilizes as a more sophisticated approach to the bars in Columbia.

We got a wine flight with a variety of dry red, dry white, semi sweet wine. My favorite is dry red, but it seems like this place specializes in mainly semi sweet or sweet wine. I did enjoy the inspiration dry red.

The building is somewhat industrial-looking, like a warehouse/small factory converted into art studios. The mastermind behind this conversion, a thin, charming gray-haired man with glasses (I can't remember his name!) is an artist himself and crafted the enormous sliding doors to each artist's studio. Each door is custom, unique and impressive. It utilizes ordinary and construction materials in sort of a flat, yet dimensional sculpture. The lighting is professional. The building's exterior has few opaque walls, and uses tinted windows from floor to ceiling in most cases. The artists featured here are all either aspiring or actual professional artists. I find most of them to be very talented. The famous MIssouri water-colorist Paul Jackson maintains a space here. Come here on a weekend during the art crawls, or artrageous friday's or whenever this place opens its doors. There's usually free wine and cheese and you can talk to the artists (and maybe buy their work!).

The rooms are cute, rustic northwestern decor but could use updates and repairs. Example are ports for electronics, etc. But the rooms are comfortable. We had a suite that included a hot tub and fireplace, fantastic. The pool are is so cute with indoor outdoor accessibility and heated! However, the hot tub was not working. All elevators are in working order. On the downside I felt like the people who run the hotel don't really care about how it looks. There seems to be no pride in what they do. They offer breakfast from 7-10am. We went down at 8:45 and there were empty cereal bins, warming trays, fruit bins. The bananas were unappealing, the waffle maker was broken and the milk fridge was almost empty as well as the coffee creamers. I did not see an attendant for well over 20 minutes. They finally came out with a food to fill an empty bin. I realize that there is a shortage of people willing to work but if you have a job, take pride in it. They way this area looks is a reflection of who is in charge of the area. This is like your restaurant. Greet people, wipe down tables and counters, reorganize things. On the bright side, the did have a nice array of choices. Overall, we had a lovely stay. I'm sure you would enjoy this place , also.
