I had Melissa AS WELL. I had a groupon for a full highlight, cut, moroccan oil and style. She didnt highlight my hair, she just started putting color on my roots.... yes color not bleach. My hair was ORANGE. I asked her to fix it because it was orange and she said it was just the lighting and brought me to the window. Still orange. So all she did was put toner on it. Still orange. She was also working on another client during all of this. And she let me leave with wet hair. I called a bunch of times but no response or calls back. Highly unprofessional. i was there for a haircut & partial highlight. I am happy with the output. what annoyed me was the wait time. the place is nice & clean I was there 15 min late (my false). The stylist told me that the person before me arrived early. so, she already started some work on her. she asked whether it's ok for me to wait once she is done with the treatment for that client, she will work on me. I responded yes to that reasonable ask. My wait was 1 hr. She switched and worked on me for ~20 min and then switched back to work on the other client. Again, i had to wait for ~1 hr. My whole process is about ~45 min with 2 hrs wait time. based on the actual time, even if me and the other client arrive on time for our slot, one of us will have a ridiculous wait time. I don't know if they just intend to take a lot of reservations, very tight to one another in order to get more clients to make more $$ out of it or something.. read more

I had the most horrible experience with trim and highlights. My hair was cut about 1.5 inches over my hairline and I have to keep shaving because it looks so bad that I had several people asking if hair stylist was upset or didn't like me, I have been using scarves in 95 degree weather and I finally decided to get hair extensions which cost me over 400 and that's just to cover the bad haircut. My stylist is Julie Anderson and I've been going to her for several years now. I actually followed her to Lucid from her previous location. It's the first time I have had someone who knows how to cut naturally curly hair. She also has wonderful coloring mixing skills and I've had many many compliments on my color and cut since going to her. When I stared seeing her my hair was long. A couple of years ago I had her cut it really really short and now I'm growing it out again. I have yet to have that "grow out phase" where you just want to cut it short again. Amber listened to what I wanted, asked me a few questions and then did her magic. I've been modifying the color of my hair as I am getting gray ones (thank you to my 4 boys for that!). Amber suggested going with more of an ash color to blend in with my grays and it came out great. I have naturally very dark hair, and was extremely nervous and contemplating my decision. Jessica was very reassuring and helpful, as she had sample photo's out of magazines laid out for me to pick from. When I said, "I would like a mix of these 3 photo's", she said confidently, "no problem!" As a model, my hair is a huge asset when it comes to the photo's I take. I purchased a groupon for keratin treatment with Agatha Lolils. Let me just say that she was great and I'm completely satisfied with her service. She has a nice warm personality and opened up to me immediately and I really enjoyed the whole experience. The only part I didn't like and I want to be clear that it isn't about the money at all. I bought the treatment on groupon but I was charged extra to 'cover' for extra product used on my hair. I have shoulder length hair and I'm not African so what extra product? If you're going to charge extra you should put it in fine print in the Groupon because it isn't right to not let customer know in advance what the cost is. Once again it's not about the money, it's really about whether it's ethical to charge extra to a customer who bought a certificate. What if it was a gift groupon? it would be embarrassing for the gifter if the recipient had to pay out of pocket. Please do it right. I'm a guy, and I'm not too picky when it comes to hair. I know little about style in general, to be perfectly honest. To give you a bit of my haircut history, I've been going to dingy $5 haircut places in the city and $10 chain "salons" (like Great Clips, BoRics, Hair Cuttery, etc.) for the majority of my life. You know the places: the "stylists" typically have zero personality, they tend to use clippers to cut all of your hair (top, sides and back) and you always leave with that disappointed feeling of "Well, my hair looks like shit right now, but it'll grow back soon enough." A few months ago, my fiancee gave me a gift certificate to a high-end salon in the suburbs, and I liked it quite a bit. The problem: there's no way in hell I can afford a $50 shampoo & cut on a regular basis. Call me cheap or whatever, but that's just way too much money for a slightly-balding guy like myself to get his hair trimmed once a month. I needed to find a middle ground: a salon with that high-end feel but with a much lower cost for a men's haircut. I found that perfect middle ground at Lucid Salon. I had my first haircut there last week. Loved it. The facility is well laid-out, pretty spacious and super clean. Heather was my stylist, and she was great. Even as this was my first appointment, I felt like I could trust her with my hair, if that makes any sense, without giving much direction at all. She was confident with her scissors and clippers. It was obvious to me that she knew what she was doing. I'm very pleased with how my hair looks. And our conversation was great too - friendly, upbeat. No complaints whatsoever. A men's haircut is normally $20 (which is a fantastic price for the service you receive), but first time customers/yelpers get a 20% discount. I'll definitely be back for my next haircut. I've been going to Lucid salon for the past 2-3 years. Heather is my stylist and she's really good. I am crazy when it comes to my hair. I change the color often. The salon is always clean and the staff is friendly every time. I have no complains about anything there and it's the longest I stayed with the same hairstylist. Their prices are awesome and the service is 5 stars. I am a satisfied customer 100%. FYI... I'm a very picky woman when it comes to my hair and Heather gets it right every time I decide to change it. AWESOME EXPERIENCE! I went to lucid for the first time, and just walked in. Melissa was my hair stylist, and she was fabulous. I'm trying to grow my hair out so I didn't want a lot cut off, so I said I wanted only a half inch. And that's exactly how much she cut! She gave great tips on how to manage my hair at home and wasn't pushy about trying to sell me products. I felt totally comfortable and completely at ease when she was cutting my hair. She also does has a loyalty card that she gave me. Every 5 visits I get half off a haircut! Great deal. I get so many compliemnts on my hair now. Melissa doesn't accept credit cards, so be prepared to write a check or use cash. For those who bank at Chase, there is an ATM located in the Walgreens next store. Only complaint I have is parking is a little difficult. There is a liquor store and a restaurant next to the salon, so its tricky to find parking sometimes. Every now and then I have to park at the Walgreens which is across the lot. But other then that, love lucid salon! read more

I tried Lucid once and won't be returning. I got a cut and color by Melissa and was unimpressed with the end result and her customer service during my time at the salon. I was asked verbally what color I wanted, and then she mixed and applied it without showing a color sample to make sure I agreed with what color she was using. The color wasn't left in for long enough, so I ended up with an obvious root color difference - I think she was aware of this as she asked me to move away from the "harsh salon lights" and step into the less well lit area at the front if the store before giving me a mirror. She cut my hair without checking what I was doing with the layers, and tried to convince me it was "cute". It wasn't. It seemed as if she was doing a job, rather than offering a service she was passionate about. Talk was faltering, and she openly criticized chain and other salons. I had a group-on coupon so went in for a full highlight and haircut, I must say the price was very reasonable in comparison to what other salons charge. Overall I thought the girl who did my hair was very nice, She has pushed that I have my roots done for a additional $20.00 in order to achieve the blonde I was searching for and I agreed. After I was rinsed out and taken back to her chair I noticed my roots were very brassy/copper orange color. The highlights were pretty blonde, when I returned home I called her back to let her know I wasn't happy with the root color and in exchange was told by her that its my lighting and nothing else! which 2 other people had also verified the orange tinge in my hair so I knew that wasn't the case. I was sick of getting less than mediocre hair cuts, so I decided to give it a shot. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. She is ABSOLUTELY amazing.
