Come for the secluded location, the clean and charmingly furnished casitas, the stars at night, lots of beautiful land to explore, the spring-fed pond, and attentive hosts who respond promptly to your needs. Cliff River Springs is in a beautiful location from which to drive and explore the northern New Mexico landscape. It's only been open a couple of years, and is clearly a labor of love. We will be back!

I…read morewas super excited, as the place appeared gorgeous and remote, exactly what we were looking for. Our expectations were not only met, but exceeded many times over. From the friendly and welcoming hosts to the absolutely stunning landscape, this place is totally amazing. The Casita - We were lucky and got an upgrade to Upper Stream. What a gorgeous place. Warm wood floors, a full and well equipped kitchen, a nice gas fireplace, little touches around the place, all really made it feel incredibly cozy and welcoming. We ate out a few times but brought plenty of food to cook breakfast and lunch on site. Our stay lasted four days, so it felt almost like home! The Land - I am an urbanite, so this place was literally nirvana to me. We saw a hawk in action, and heard coyotes. We went on a nice walk, along the dry river bed and up into the hills. I was giddy with the the views and plant life bursting around me. Just be sure to bring a hat! It's bright/warm out there (we were there in early October). I fell in love with the pond! It was an oasis in the dry climate of New Mexico. We spent a lot of time sitting up there, taking in the view. My traveling companion went swimming, too! I can't say enough good things about Cliff River Springs. Those four days will stay with me for many, many moons to come.

Checking in was super easy, the staff were really helpful with all of our questions. I have a bad sense of direction and every time I got lost there was someone there to walk me where I needed to go. My massage with Laya Watts was amazing, probably the best one I ever had. I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. It was a wonderful experience. The food in the restaurant was very good but I wished there were smaller portions of some things. I got a salad and it was fantastic but I only ate about half of it and I really didn't want to go back into the pools on a full stomach. My only criticism was that the showers in the spa locker room were spotless in the morning but by mid day they really needed a cleaning. It's not the spa's fault that it was dirty but some people are just slobs. I would have been good if they had someone come in and clean at least once during the day.

i want say how beautiful this resort is. So I've been here for a few days as a whole Caliente it's…read morereally awesome place! being my first time! the reason for the 3 stars is the food and prices on things are not consistent. it was 5 stars was my massage with sarah she was fantastic! Thank you all for making my birthday and our 20 anniversary so amazing! everything was very nice except the food and drinks not so much. first time I was there on Monday afternoon, I waited 25 min. at least before even being acknowledge or even said anything to me. the bartender girl looked like she was very overwhelmed! and i ordered a grilled artichoke which was great! and i didn't mind waiting but found out the cider i was charged 8.60 for a cider they don't carry. and the young man who came in after was complaining about the gal who just left and didn't set up anything for him. he was nice as but the next day i came in to order dinner so i got the 22 buck smash burger and when i got it back to my room. it wasn't smashed it was an anemic 2 patty, it doesn't say on the menu it had 2 patty's and it wasn't even good at all. so i came in and told the guy and all he did was apologize. i should have asked for the manager but i thought he would have offered me to credit me or replace it. but nope. then I asked him if I could have a cider and he said 7+ some change so i asked him how come the girl charged me 860 and the guys like she shouldn't because we no longer have that cider they are great at being consistent with inconsistency's like the food/prices. than my fiancée showed up the next evening then i took back to the wine bar and we ordered another artichoke and i think all employees at the restaurant/wine bar seemed overwhelmed. but after we waited for a little bit we got the artichoke and it was was raw and tough, so i sent that back and then my man ordered fajitas. He ordered the steak and shrimp, but we got the combo chicken steak and shrimp and there was absolutely no flavor at all. and the chicken/ steak were not cut properly, they looked hacked up. at the same time we were ordering a very tall guy walks in kind of red hair and I guess it was the owner son and the young guy that was taking his order kind of catered to him not us because we waited a while again, but it's all good. The tall young man was very polite though!! the guys are aware that Guy was very nice but come on because the owner Son comes in and ordered a bunch of stuff. so after that i asked for a second artichoke and it was even colder but what ever! not even cooked but how do you grill an artichoke and have it underdone?. so our third night we came in and order a pizza the meat lovers well meat lovers ha ha ha really seven pieces of bad pepperoni and maybe eight pieces of of horrible Italian sausage. And then they don't give you any or offer us any Parmesan cheese or red pepper so here's the good part I went and I spoke to Santiago who was a young guy willing to help me and he said I can get you a container full of Parmesan cheese and red pepper. I said thank you so much. and it was so refreshing to have someone provide me with outstanding customer service skills. so it doesn't take much to make a guest feel special. ! so i asked him can i speak to your manager? this guy walks out, not really even caring what I was saying, but I said Santiago's outstanding employee, you can in his eyes. He wants to make people happy. I told him he is the best employee you have so far. and he goes I'll put that in my report and i shared you need help with your staff and their guest service skills. he said yes i do and walks out while i was still speaking with him, he had no clue i was an on-boarding master trainer for huge companies in calif, anyway these people need big help here judt because if they want to continue to be a luxury resort then they should hire luxury people luxury as in people who love to show up for work and want to create an experience for everyone at Ojo Caliente restaurant and hopefully the new mgr gal will do her magic. but the guy manager did not seem to care or he was over it! Santiago. He's so young provided such a can-do attitude and had passion!. So I would give it a five star for Santiago, but the food in the inconsistency of pricing I was here and Sarah was an awesome incredible massage therapist so if you ever at Ojo Cali please check santiago has the natural gift for the service industry. anyway! please whoever looks at this review from Ojo caliente's restaurant. there was really no rude people just some people do not really care or not properly trained. that starts at the top. and maybe someone should come in and show them how to have fun again while providing 5star guest/customer service. anyway all in all i had a fantastic time here! massage was fantastic, rooms were beautiful bed was so cozy the bedding wow, you guys just need some retraining! or someone to come in and revamp your training and find their passion again!

Britt, the owner, met us before we headed out for our float, and we just casually conversed until it was time to go. Our outing coincided with a group of 25 Boy Scouts, so we could've been quickly lost in the shuffle, but Socia held us back and let the kids get way out ahead of us, so we felt like we were all by ourselves for the majority of the trip. She was so considerate and engaging and made it feel like we were on the river with an old friend. At the end of the trip, Britt met us again and hung out while we ate just casually conversing as if once more, we were catching up with an old friend. Thank you, Socia and Britt for the memory of a lifetime! Our little guy hasn't stopped talking about whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande.

We also had dinner, breakfast and a small lunch during our stay. It was wonderfully prepared and healthy. They even gave me a special treat for dessert during my celebration dinner. The pools are all super special, I had a massage (overpriced). Very relaxing and beautiful grounds. We had a beautiful room over by the chickens and puppies. Very clean, stylish and supplied with a cute water bottle to fill up on their tasty spring water! We went to visit the adoptable puppies too! They were super cute!

It was crowded with day pass users. We decided not to rub shoulders so we hung out at the deeper sages pool, salt water pool, and eucalyptus steam room. Those were less crowded, however still not the relaxing spa experiences I had envisioned. It was more of a resort pool feel. There were people talking and laughing so loud. I mean, yay!! You're having fun, great! But this is supposed to be a spa, meditation, yoga, tranquility?? To Ojo's credit, one of the attendants actually did ask some guests to lower their voices. The changing rooms also felt dirty and need to be cleaned more often. Esp with the number of guests. Services: I did get a massage and it was nice and relaxing. The facilities themselves were very basic. The waiting room decor was bland and all they had was plain water and a kettle to make your own tea. The door to outside was kept open so there were all these big flies by the tea and diffuser. Lodging: we stayed in a double on the 2nd floor. There's no elevator. You can ask them to bring your luggage up if heavy. The room itself is basic and dated. The carpets and drapes especially need a refresh. There's tea and refillable water bottles you can use. No coffee. Dining: we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Blue Heron and the food was good. Dinner had the best service and food. The steak and trout were delicious and large portions. Breakfast was hit or miss and service was slow. The French toast was good, but my friend's eggs Benedict the eggs were not runny. The yolk was thoroughly cooked. Staff: everyone was very helpful and nice. Location: far from town, 15 mins to airport. Overall, it might be nice if this is your first spa experience. For me, it was the minimal, basic spa experience. I gave it 3 stars because it's commensurate to the price. We paid 370 for the room (doubles) which included the soaking and robes for two people. Everything else was extra.
