Unfortunate for Ojo Caliente. Whereas many of the past guests rated it poorly (the current rating…read moreof this place is only 3.5 stars as of April 2026), I, fortunately, had a wonderful experience at this one of the oldest health spas in the country. From the stretch (yoga class before soaking) to soaking in 8 different pools to dining at the resort restaurant to shopping in the gift shop, everything exceeded my expectations where the only proper thing to do is to give it a perfect 5-star review. I bought the "soak and stretch" combo thing with 90-minute yoga class in a yurt. I paid the weekend pricing ($85) as I went here on a Sunday but it was all worth it as it turned out, I was the ONLY student in the class so I had an intimate 1-on-1 session with Julie, my instructor who made the class level so easy for me. It was also my first time to attend a yoga class in a yurt, certainly one-of-a-kind opportunity that I had never experienced in the past. A few pools were closed (one of them was the arsenic one), having access to 8 pools was plenty. My favorites were Soda pool (inclosed/covered) and Mud pool but frankly all pools have their own unique "healing" elements to them whereby immersing your whole body in them patiently, you will become a whole new person inside out. The locker rooms/showers/toilets etc. (in short, amenities) were all well-maintained and clean. The beach chairs were plenty throughout the resort. When not soaking, relax in one of them by simply sunbathing or do some reading. The surrounding environment is also a healing element to your eyes and mind. After soaking, head to the restaurant/wine bar for a nice meal (which I did. After yoga stretching and soaking in different pools, I sure was famished). My waiter, Jacob, was most polite and attentive to my needs. The Grilled Ruby Trout with a bed of wild rice is what I ordered and I cannot recommend it enough. This is a must-get item off the menu. A glass of Justin (red) wine ended up being a fantastic choice to accompany my meal. After my quick meal, I headed to the gift shop for a little souvenir. I got me one of the branded crop top tees (only $22 or so) to commemorate my visit to the resort for the first time (I had waited for almost 10 years before I could finally visit Ojo; it was simply way too long of a wait.) The final little thing I did was to walk around the property to take some awesome photos of the surrounding nature. Ojo's setting is simply breathtaking and spectacular. My trip to Taos area was too short. Had I had one more day, I would have done an all-day soaking, not just several hours. That is my only regret. Back in the hustle bustle life in Denver, I am already in need for another good soaking. I could go back to Ojo by tomorrow.

Many years ago when I worked at City Hall, I would donate a portion of every paycheck to United Way. As a thanks, Ojo Caliente gifted us a visit for two during the week. Last year I brought my little card to see if I could still use it. The girl at the front desk asked the person in the room behind. she came out and assured me that since Covid had thrown wrench into everything that they would definitely accept my gift card on my next visit. we laughed at how old it was, but it didn't have an expiration date. My daughter's birthday was on Saturday. It was Mother's Day weekend so we decided to come on Monday. I presented my card to the front desk, girl she took it to the lady in the room behind her. The lady in the room behind her, went to the other side where people check into their rooms. She proceeded to come back and tell me that it was expired. I tried to plead to her good nature, telling her how we had been assured last year that we would be able to use it. Then I asked for card back and she didn't want to give it back. my daughter had to intervene and tell her that it wasn't theirs. I felt like I was a young adult presenting a fake ID and having my ID confiscated.. we paid for our day passes and tried to reset our minds to have the great day we had planned. i know that running a business is expensive and would have made food/gift shop purchases equal to the cost of our day passes in appreciation. Although we didn't stay at the hotel, we went to The Springs Resort everyday we were in town. An afternoon soak was just what our muscles needed after spending the day on the slopes. We relaxed, shared stories and laughs while sipping tasty wellness drinks ("shroom shrubs") and cocktails in the healing hot springs. The outstanding service really elevated our experience. Our server, Matthew was exceedingly friendly and attentive. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed--including food and drink, took a few group photos, and even let gave us tips as to what springs were best for watching the sunset. Our server Micaela was also excellent, joking with us and making us feel spoiled! I would recommend visiting The Springs in Pagosa to anyone! It was a wonderful way to unwind & catch up, in the relaxing springs while surrounded by beautiful nature! #goodvibes #warmestregards #thesprings

We had some dear friends who were staying at the hotel and celebrating their anniversary. They mentioned where they were staying and I thought, I should call that place up and try to surprise my friends with something delivered to their room! I never really know who to ask to speak to for something like this so I just called and told the person who answered what I wanted to do. He immediately put me in touch with Lauryn. (Kudos to that guy who knew who I should be transferred to.) Lauryn wasn't there so I left a message. She called me back promptly, within 5 minutes. I told her what I was thinking and told her the name of the guests. Lauryn said she had met one of my friends earlier that morning and said she already knew about the anniversary and was in the process at that very moment of sending them a bottle of bubbly on the house. Immediately, I thought, this is a class act! I asked Lauryn if she could arrange to have a basket full of cheeses and meats delivered and maybe some fruit. She mentioned that there was an organic grocery store next door and that she would be happy to pick some items up for me. I told her the types of salami, cheeses, and other items that I thought they would like. She said no problem. Within 30 minutes, she sent me a picture of what she bought, took off all the price tabs and quickly bundled things up in a basket and had it delivered to them! Lauryn did something else that was really nice too but this review is already long and I think the description above will shed plenty of light on the type of top quality service you can expect when you come to The Blake. At the end of the day, you can own a 5 star hotel but if that hotel doesn't have exceptional staff members to help the guests out (and in this case, their friends from another state), you don't really have a 5 star hotel. All I can do is give them a 5 star review. I definitely know that I want to make a special trip here just so I can hand Lauryn a nice tip to thank her for helping me out so much!

I really wanted to leave a glowing 5-star review because, when we first arrived I was obsessed with…read morethis place. My boyfriend, our dog, and I ended up booking this B&B last minute after leaving another accommodation early because it had bugs (including a camel spider in our bed ). We found this place online at resnexus.com as well Yelp and stalked their website, loved the photos, read the reviews, and immediately felt relieved when we arrived. The Piñon Casita was adorable, the property itself is beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts seemed friendly. For the first hour or so I was thinking, Thank goodness, we finally found the place. Unfortunately, things slowly started going downhill from there. The first night, the fireplace wouldn't work. We messaged the hosts, sent photos, tried troubleshooting it ourselves, and eventually just gave up and accepted we'd be having a fireplace-free evening. It wasn't the end of the world, and we figured hey, stuff happens. The next day they came and fixed it, which we appreciated. Then came the washer. One of the reasons we were excited about this casita was because it included a washer and dryer. Earlier in the week we'd already spent time at a laundromat, so we were looking forward to doing laundry before our 8-hour drive home. We started a load and got a 4E error less than halfway through the wash. We looked it up ourselves, we tried troubleshooting, we messaged the hosts, we followed their suggestions, and we tried different cycles. At this point I felt less like a guest and more like the on-call appliance technician. They eventually told us the washer had been fixed while we were out hiking, so we were excited to finally do laundry. Spoiler alert it wasn't fixed. Same error. We tried again later that evening. Same issue. Then around 11 PM the washer completely shut off and locked our wet laundry inside. We messaged the hosts again because we were supposed to leave the next morning after breakfast and start an 8-hour drive home. The response that frustrated us most wasn't even the broken washer, it was being told that because we hadn't specifically mentioned on the phone that we intended to use the washer and dryer, (And she said that they don't accept same day bookings, but made an exception for us, though that was never communicated nor was this a policy written anywhere on their website) compensation wouldn't be considered. Respectfully, if an amenity is advertised, guests shouldn't have to announce ahead of time that they plan on using it. That's like asking if the shower works before booking because you intend to shower. We weren't asking for a huge refund. We weren't asking for hundreds of dollars back. Even a small gesture of goodwill $50 to $100 off the stay would have gone a long way and would have shown that they understood the inconvenience. Instead, we paid full price despite having a fireplace that didn't work the first night and a washer/dryer that never functioned properly during our stay. To add to that, there were also multiple spiders and bugs inside the casita. I understand this is the countryside and bugs exist. Trust me, I get it. But after literally leaving our previous accommodation because of bugs, it wasn't exactly what we hoped to deal with again. The next morning our laundry was still trapped in the washer. Eventually my boyfriend ended up figuring out the breaker issue himself after staff told us where the breaker panel was located. We rushed to get our laundry spun and dried before checkout, but they still weren't completely dry. So instead of leaving relaxed after a nice getaway, we ended up starting our 8-hour drive home later than planned with damp laundry shoved into a trash bag. The frustrating part is that this review could have been completely different. The property is beautiful, the breakfast was genuinely fantastic, the casita itself is cute and cozy. And honestly, if the hosts had simply acknowledged the inconvenience and offered even a small amount of compensation, I probably would've happily overlooked most of this. Instead, we left feeling like the burden of fixing the problems fell on us while still paying full price for amenities we couldn't properly use. It's a lovely property, but unfortunately the way these issues were handled means we won't be returning.

I paid around $300/night for a room that was in need of a lot of TLC (see pics). Motel 6 might be nicer???? I mean it's been a while since I frequented one of those for a high school party?!?!? The heat was horrible. Our room was so hot! We had the 1970's unit turned off but the room stayed tundra hot. We had maintence come one day 2. After all of one minute he said IDK and left??? We had a box fan on high the entire time as well as windows open when it felt okay (the car exhaust from the parking lot prohibited that at times. There was zero security. None of the rooms on the left side (when facing the place) on the "resort" were locked. I take that back. One was locked but only because it was broken and wouldn't open at all (door 2). This place will nickel and dime you to death! Food and drink is ridiculous. $4-5/soda, $18-$20 for chicken nuggets or burger with fries (my kids told me their school food was better?!?!?). And lose the keycard...that's $35 for each lost key. My kids held on to those with their lives!!! And the keycards barely worked. I stopped counting the number of times we had to the keycards rekeyed. Ugh. The pool and hot tub are surrounded by slippery tile. Super smart?!?!? And my youngest kid got a rash from the hot tub. Thank goodness Ed's I had hydrocortisone cream. When the bubbles aren't going the hot tub is cloudy. Ick! And if you want to talk to management. Good luck! You'll have to EMAIL to talk to them. The boots I rented sliced my shins all to hell after one hour ski school. The rental place tried to blame it on my attire (having more than my socks in the boot). Nope, I watched the Angel Fire video on what to wear. I never got a sorry. Here's a free $5 soda on us. NOTHING. And the final item that secured us take time out of my day to write this review. I was waiting on someone to back out of a parking sport at El Jefe to eat. A surfer looking dude told me to move cause I was holding up traffic. I pointed the the car pulling out. He said he didn't care. As I'm old and give zero eeffs...I sat there and waited. After looking at the menu we didn't eat there. So I could have saved myself the heartache. But man...the staff. So the staff...a good portion are drifters from hotel to hotel during the season. A lot sound like CHEECH. Most don't give any thought to your experience or satisfaction, with the exception of the ski instructors. I will said Daniel was the bees knees!!! And after hours the staff like to hang at the overpriced diners onsite and talk about their hippie beliefs such as queerness and Trump. As if my kids need to hear any of that? As if I care??? And maybe I'd like a seat at the bar, but there weren't any due to the staff. David- your bias is showing. I didn't say anything about anyone's ethnicity or politics. I said keep the staff's political views away from my KIDS. The staff talked about THEIR political beliefs in guest spaces. I could not care less what the staff think politically. I do care if my 11 & 13 yo have to hear it at dinner in the only restaurant open for dinner inside the lodge. I also didn't say anything about ethnicity. But since you bring it up...the folks I interacted with were all white. I was pointing out they all seem like stoners. The part about roaming from resort to resort was a topic I asked the 6 staffers sitting at the bar while waiting on my family to arrive so I could move to a table. I specifically asked how they started working at Angel Fire. Those are their words. I went ahead and changed my stats to a 1 based on your response.
