This park is not too far from Cotati and Rohnert Park, but it feels like you are far away amongst the vineyards and farms. Parts of the trail have great views. There is a decent size parking lot with a $7 fee. Trail maps near the parking lot direct you where to walk and sign posts on the trails keep you from getting lost. It's not humongous so we walked for less than an hour, only about 2 miles, but the trails were well maintained as mostly gravel, hard packed dirt, or grass. There is also a very popular disc golf course here. Dog friendly, on leash. Pit toilets. No sink or hand sanitizer.

I went on a drive having my eyes set on my usual park until I drove by Julliard park. I will say finding parking was a bit of a maze since I accidentally entered a neighborhood. But once I did find parking, I decided to walk through the park and was amazed of how nice and tranquil it is. Beautiful benches with artwork on them. I couldn't help but stop and look at them all. The grass was nice and green and ready for my dog and I to trek. There's also a bocce ball court for anyone that loves to play bocce ball! There was a nice little bridge I walked on that had a great view of the park as well. I walked the whole park and it was a great workout. I proceeded to walk the rest of art district and found an alley that had a mural within it and it was beautiful. I haven't walked here and taken time to come to this part of Santa Rosa, but it definitely won't be the last time I come through to check it out.

Ragle Ranch Regional Park is an amazing local park. There are bicycle trails, hiking trails and people take horses there too. Benches along the way let a person sit and enjoy the beauty. Out on the trails it's hard to believe you are within walking distance of downtown. There are also baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball. It is also home to the premier public tennis facility in West County, the Ragle Ranch Tennis courts were built with private donations and have been maintained by dedicated volunteers for the past 30 years without taxpayer funds. It has one of the few practice walls in West County and a porta potty nearby.

We came birding here recently and saw a hawk and woodpecker perched up in a tree. They also had sheep and goat grazing in a temporary fenced-off area to keep the dry grass down. I love this eco-friendly method of managing vegetation. There were about a dozen dogs happily playing in the dog park when I was there. It was fun to watch how they interact with each other. There were a few growls but responsible dog parents were there to quickly call their dogs back. There are several picnic tables sprinkled throughout the park. You can reserve areas for special events. I have attended a wedding and a friend hosted a retirement party here. The Gravenstein Apple Fair has been held at this location for many decades as well. There are a few parking lots to choose from. You can park inside the park for free if you are a Sonoma County Regional Park member. Annual pass is currently $69. Seniors get a discounted rate.

It's pretty though, and there are lots of paths to walk around. Some trees and benches also. If you aren't in the neighborhood already (seeing family, in my case) then walking around downtown Petaluma instead of the park has a little bit more to offer, but if you're in the area, this is a pretty park in a beautiful neighborhood.

For those who like to stay active, Howarth has miles of hiking, walking, jogging and biking trails, with connections toward Spring Lake and Trione-Annadel State Park. There are also tennis and pickleball courts, which are currently under construction. It's also a wonderful place for birthday parties, picnics, field trips, summer camps and group activities. It's always packed so parking gets full. But with our mind state we serendipity get lucky- as we come into the park, someone always leaves at the right time for us to park! Definitely a gem in Santa Rosa.

Charming oak shaded hills and a bridge through a grasslands meadow, plus children's play area. Keep an eye for falling branches. . Nice wildflowers and birds, sheep trim things down during fire season. An occasional deer. High foot and dog traffic, please keep dogs leashed for the wildlife ‍. Good place to grab a moment of stillness.
