The only thing good about this place is the path is flat and easy to walk on but it really feels post apocalyptic. I saw three homeless people in the parking lot. There is a nice little park that edges southeast of the marina where you can view some pretty majestic water fowl and contemplate life. Some decent fishing spots here as well. If you have a boat or kayak, you can nail some stripers on this river. I have better chances in the evenings and mornings, less so in the heat of the day. I like to use shad or night crawlers, heard some people use live mud suckers too.

This is exactly the reason you should come to Lucchesi Park with dire news. It'd be hard to ruin any memories of a place that's already this crap-tastic. Rather than googling "best parks in Petaluma" someone googled "nearby parks in Petaluma" and there's a big difference. We had a nice bottle of wine, some plastic cups, and poured ourselves a little splash after parking the car. We wanted to sit on a bench by the water, sip our wine, and enjoy the ambiance. In one direction the water-adjacent path was so littered with duck/goose/bird poop that I headed the opposite way. I rounded a bend and discovered the same thing in that direction: A shitstorm the likes of which I've never before seen. I turned around and opted for a bench in front of the building with merely a view of the most egregious poop mounds rather than a close-up. I laughed: this place is disgusting. There's a hiking trail at the other end of the park and a playground across the water but I really had no desire to explore. Later that evening I found Penry Park and imagined what could've been. Always google "best park", never "nearest park".

It's pretty though, and there are lots of paths to walk around. Some trees and benches also. If you aren't in the neighborhood already (seeing family, in my case) then walking around downtown Petaluma instead of the park has a little bit more to offer, but if you're in the area, this is a pretty park in a beautiful neighborhood.

It offered a lot of great, scenic views overseeing all of the beautiful buildings, homes, hills, and the sunset. The entire environment provided peace and tranquility. It appeared to be small, yet there was still enough space to enjoy my time there. In essence, the vibes of Penry Park were pleasantly enjoyable. I recommend coming here.

Parking was easy the morning I visited. Parking by the park is a lot easier in this area compared to the downtown area. Downtown Petaluma and river walk are very close by.

The park itself has a lot of land, at least 3 picnic tables spread apart, and a couple big trees…read moreproducing some shade. As the trees are concerned, one is closer to the picnic tables and the others are near the newer set which allows for parents to sit and enjoy cooler air - also metal benches close by. We nicknamed it the tree house playground as the major structure looks like it, made of newer plastics and some metal/rope. Both areas of play have bark-chips. Occasionally there've been older kids, but never caused any problems for my kids who are younger than 7 year old. The older set is mostly wood and metal, providing the only swings in the equipment for smaller children, my kids have sighted some bees but doesn't appear problematic to their play. Also there is two benches for oversight. It is important to know there aren't bathrooms here (closest are just a bit away at the end of wiseman airport park) or drinking fountains which both reduce the expended stay feature unlike some other playgrounds in Petaluma. It is also positioned near Garfield which isn't too busy but without a gate, wondering children may be at risk.
