The GF loves Lucali pizza in Brooklyn so for her birthday we braved the Miami traffic to check out their South Beach restaurant. Street parking was in high demand on a Friday night but there's a parking garage less than a block away, so no problem there. There was a line outside (20-30 min) but the bar had open tables, with the same menu, same service, so yay us, sat right away. No real ambiance and very loud, could barely hear one another across the table. Our server was busy running g back and forth but always happy. We ordered water, wine, and a pizza. The pizza was okay, not great, definitely not worth the drive. The crust was thin and charred nicely but no chew or bite to it. Meatballs had no flavor, and whole black olives dumped on top with no even distribution.. If you're gonna charge $32 for a 12" pie BEFORE toppings, it better wow me. This didn't. We saw lots of of good looking dishes going out but everything here is so overpriced for the amount of food, and if you bill yourself as a pizza joint and can't get that part right, what else is there? read more

I've been to the location in Brooklyn and it has a similar vibe to this one. It is a vintage vibe. My brother really wanted to try this place because apparently it's Jay Z's favorite pizza place. I will say the pizza and the calzone are both very good. If you like thin, brick oven baked pizza with a crispy crust, then this is your place. The calzone is super crispy too. I like how they keep the marinara sauce separate to keep the crispiness of the calzone. Everything here is made fresh. Lots of staff in the kitchen which is fully visible to customers. I would say the one complaint is that this place is on the expensive side. The bill came out to be around $100 for these 2 items. Each topping has a high charge and it adds up. A slice of New York in Miami! This New York staple is a great, casual place for good quality food without the frills of fancy restaurants. We came here and had the spicy 3 cheese fusilli, baked clams, summer salad, meatballs, and pizza. For dessert, we ended with the cheesecake which wasn't too sweet and quite creamy. One of my top places to eat in Miami Beach! My best friend took me to Lucali for some lunch, and it was amazing. The food was 10/10, starting with their 'Pepperoni Chips' which I never had before but definitely would have again. So things changed here - We checked in with only one party ahead of us - still waited for an hour because different "regulars" showed up and were seated before us. I asked the host if they take reservations and she confirmed it's first come first serve.... Ok? After waiting for an hour, we were seated and ordered right away. I guess we forgot the ridiculous pricing for 1 plain pizza with no toppings is $30. Each topping is $4-$9 each - kinda ridiculous. The kale salad was also lacking this time. Hurt our stomachs too. Finally made it out to Lucali and it's everything I hoped it would be. There is a reason why there's always a waitlist at their Brooklyn location...hands down S-tier pizza. Cracker thin crust, deliciously well-balanced sauce, quality cheese, and fresh basil. It's simplicity, and it's perfect. I went for lunch on a Saturday and had no issue getting a table. Service was great from beginning to end. The place has a rustic charm, with their brick oven being the star of the show. For dessert, I tried their mini cannolis. Out of this world! Most restaurants will pre-pipe their cannolis, which makes the shell soggy, but Lucali must pipe it on demand because that was one of the freshest cannoli shells I've ever eaten. And let me not go off on a tangent about the cannoli filling, which was perfectly balanced with hints of lemon, cream, and chocolate...these things were show stoppers. I came Lucali tonight after a few years and was pleasantly surprised! Sat inside this time instead of take out and love the simple yet lovely decor inside the restaurant. Staff was kind and friendly. We ordered the Kale salad to start ($16). It had great flavor, nice kale portion with some Parmesan on top. I would have loved a crunch to the salad, maybe croutons or something else in it but definitely tasty. Then ordered the cheese pie ($28). It was a really tasty pie with the right amount of cheese and crunch. Lots of fresh basil on top. Very fresh taste. Definitely a lot more enjoyable than my last visit and less burnt which allowed me to fully taste all the flavors of the pie. Glad I came by and enjoyed dinner at Lucali this week! read more

Over $160 for two pizzas?!?! Talk about a scam that WILMUR our waiter did. Told us that one person can eat a pizza by themselves so we ordered two. We have eaten at the Lucali in Brooklyn and wanted to try the Miami option while we were on vacation. Because we were headed to the airport we didn't order lots of food - just one plain pizza. This pizza reminded us of Brooklyn without the wait. We went to Miami's Lucali on a weekday at 5 and had no problem getting a table for 4. Finally tried the famous Lucali! We walked up on a Monday at about 6:45/7pm and were seated immediately which I was shocked by considering you always hear how it's impossible to get a table there, but I guess Mondays are a good time! We ordered the small portion of chicken parm, a plain pizza, and an aperol spritz each for 2 people. To be honest, what kept our order this small were the prices. The small portion of chicken parm was $28 for one piece of chicken with sauce, no pasta etc. The plain pizza was $28, and toppings were in my opinion, extremely overpriced ($8 to add pepperoni). The Aperol Spritz we're not listed on the menu and ended up being $18 each. The chicken parm was pretty good, but I would never order it again from Lucali in terms of the value for the money. I know Miami is expensive, I live here, but I do look for value that I find appropriate. The Aperol Spritz were actually really good and probably my favorite I've had so far for the summer! Now for the pizza. While it might not be the best in Miami in MY OPINION I did really like it. It's really thin and the cheese and sauce are delicious. My friend and I finished the entire pizza between the two of us. Every server who took care of us was really kind and everything came out quickly. They checked on us often with a big smile! One small thing was that I shared stories of my experience on Instagram Stories and Lucali immediately messaged me asking for the originals so could they post them, which they then did right away and only tagged me (in a comment not in post or caption) when I asked them to. Not a huge deal but something I noticed. Overall the bill for 2 for what I described was $118 after tip for a very casual and quick dinner. The pizza was great! it was crispy, had excellent flavor and cooked to perfection. Definitely a unique gourmet pizza spot. Super popular boujee pizza. I say this with love and respect. We waited almost an hour. I don't even do that at Disney. This time, I did and was rewarded with one of the better meals of my weekend. The place was busy from the time we walked up until almost 3 hours later. We started with the artichokes (makes me want a wood fired oven). I'll pass and just keep coming here.
