I have to admit, I'm a bit up in the air about Luc. When they first opened a few years back, this place was like an urban oasis of sorts. A great, cosy, inspirational place with a fun menu and friendly staff who were willing to work with you on off menu items such as iced coffee. In fact, we started that off as a thing last summer.. this summer however the request is met with a no. Bit of a shame...
So about current events, let's start off positive. *disclaimer: I am NOT an avocado person
I am OBSESSED with their eggs smashed (though sometimes not smashed) avocado. Brioche toast, avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise are my idea of the perfect pick-me-up (hangover food) and though the actual being smashed of the avocado is something I think depends on how hungover/awake the chef in question is, I am never disappointed by it's perfection. Not even now they've added sprouts to it on the menu but the dish still comes out with the same old tried-and-tested-no-sprouts-here combination... no disappointment here.
Now on to the area of disappointment: lack of service!
Even on slow mornings we've found that since last summer it's been quite impossible to get any type of attention from servers here. In fact we've sat inside at a table not too far from the bar waiting for fifteen minutes before deciding to leave about a month ago. Finally when someone came to bring us someone else's drink order we were already on our way out.
Also, apparently there is no longer any co-operation on the request for iced coffee; IT'S THIRTY+ DEGREES CELSIUS OUT HERE I DO NOT WANT HOT COFFEE BUT I NEED COFFEE!!!
Anyway, it's a shame that such a lovely place with nice food is being let down by it's horribly lazy and unattentive servers. Also a shame that probably nobody at Luc ever reads these reviews to learn a thing or two... read more
