What we thought would be a fun day at the range turned sour for me real quick. My husband finally got a weekend to try out his new rifle so we went. The cost was a little pricey, but it wasn't a problem. It was a little confusing at first because the cashier made us use a QR code to sign in. Not a problem but there were no other instructions or guidelines besides him telling us to sign in. Kinda iffy but okay. We shoot at one bay and decide to move to another. When we get there, this RSO starts yelling at us that we weren't being safe which was odd because I literally just sat my things down. He told us that a "regular" was telling us the rules and we weren't listening. At no point and time was anyone yelling at us. Regardless, he tells our friend's kiddo to "shut up and listen to him and just say yes sir to him." That rubbed me the wrong way. He was of legal age and didn't know, and there were no rules posted or told to us. Another older RSO came and explained it to us in a much nicer tone. Nothing wrong with the facilities, would just be better if there were posted rules or some guidance before just letting us go out there. And if that RSO is reading this, please do better. You could have approached us better than that. read more

We had a great time at the shooting range, we went on a Saturday and even though there was quite a bit of people we still had a great time and had a spot to shoot without waiting. This is great shooting range, they are friendly and helpful. There are a couple downsides of this shooting range: 1st is that it's pretty expensive for a out door range 2nd the Ammo is really expensive 3rd it's outside so if the weather sucks then that would not be fun 4th they are way overbearing . They treat you like a child and they will yell at you if you seem like might brake one of their rules But ending on a positive side is that they have a huge tang of guns that you can rent out but you have to use their ammo. Also, you can shoot any gun (legal ones) there because they have different ranges for each caliber I highly suggest you come here to try one of their guns before you buy one. read more

Okay...I guess. A RSO, way before I had even taken 2 steps from my vehicle, decided to make the observation - "Sir, you can park your car where you're going". Thanks, but if i'm already shoulder-strapped 'up' with bag and other gear, there's little point in reloading into vehicle for a 40yard walk. I stated "it's a little too late for that..." -- I receive a strange-look /pause... as my walking path was now obstructed & I clarify "I'm already halfway there..." Later..because I've been military friends, family members, etc. The same RSO comes with another to 'asses my range readiness' Guess the 1st didn't like my responses. Range Operation was lacking Order: RSO w/radios to coordinate, because 2 were present, new (X__Area arrivals) : instruction for proceeding with setup and addressing those past 'booths' to return and break for min. 5. min. There is not 'replacement' cardboard for backs of steel frames -- so enough holes + wind = no new silhouette paper target. Shop has 'mix-match' of variable calibers yet there are no Bulk-Selections, instead some display cases with non-firearm related materials. It would encourage longer visits if 12,9 & 40 were in some 500ct cases, I didn't check prices. You will need to bring enough of your own in some cases. The shop 'owner' (older male) is professional and won't mind 'shooting the sh*t' with you because it's nothing new to be social. If you own a truck or SUV the road isn't bad, at 30mph, otherwise cars are slower due to gravel. Okay spot, just a short drive from Lubbock, just wish there were large lots of items. read more

Didn't even get my gun loaded before getting so angry that I just wanted to leave. Before we even got anything out of the truck a guy barked at us that we needed hearing protection on. Ok we put it on, unloaded the lead sled and then pulled a gun out. Literally 2 ft away from the truck and he jumped on me about needing to point the gun down range instead of downward.?? Keep in mind I'm still 10ft back from the line so you want me to point it towards the line from back here???? Really????? So i put my bolt action 30-06 on the lead sled. Once i sat down i picked it up and the muzzle pointed upward. It took less than 3 seconds to hear him bark at me again that it needed to be pointed down range. Ok so im annoyed at this point but did as i was told. I opened the action (i usually leave it open until im ready to shoot) and looked downrange through my scope. When i pulled the gun back from shooting position i begin to adjust the range on my scope and again caught this guy's wrath. He walked up on my left and explained that it needed to be pointed downrange. It was downrange!!! He said at the angle of my gun it would've gone over the berm. So now I'm really annoyed. I go to put it back on the lead sled and apparently still not down range enough for him so grips at me again from right beside my right ear. This startled me and now im aggravated so i turn to him swinging the gun (this mistake was truly my fault but keep in mind my action is still open and unloaded). I immediately point it back down range and tell him im done! Im leaving! Im so frustrated now that I'm making mistakes and now the situation is truly unsafe. I'm not interested in forcing the situation or even trying to get my money back. All i knew is that i wanted away from this guy. I'm no beginner and all gun guys know someone like this. He's THAT GUY. He lords over people under the guise of safety but really he just needs to feel big. Me and my son (who's a soldier in town on leave) and my dad (who've all hunted together for decades) all left. I never even got to pull a round out of the box. I think this guy was either the owner or manager so I will never go back. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend finding somewhere else to shoot. Safety is SUPER IMPORTANT but that was INSANE! read more

I wanted to check out this million dollar facility built by a local gun store owner as I really respect him and his store. I am a Master Class USPSA shooter and I have been to many, many indoor and outdoor ranges over the years. I am of the belief that gun/range safety is black and white and there is no grey. However, it was immediately evident that the Range Officer over the pistal bay was WAY over the top in his "Barking of Commands" at the customers in his bay. He overly yelled at an elderly man (hard of hearing) to get behind the yellow line!! He yelled orally then took a bullhorn and continued barking his commands. I looked down at the elderly man's feet and he was standing perpendicular to the range but about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of his inside shoe was just toughing the edge of the yellow line. RIDICULOUS!!!!! The man was so humiliated that he packed up his 22 caliber pistol and gear and left. Do you think this gentleman will be back with his grandson to teach him about the joys of target shooting? PRO's: Multiple ranges and setups for different calibers including both pistol and rifle. Good selection of firearms to rent and ammo to buy. CON's: Ammo prices are a joke! You must bring your own ammo! If you rent you have to purchase their ammo to be fired through that rental. Range/Safety officers make it their personal duty to be a military drill sergeant and justify that status saying it is all in the name of safety. I would not recommend taking a new shooter to this range as their joy and interest in the shooting world will be completely shattered. Lubbock has other, new and older shooting ranges to better meet that need. read more

It's quite a drive, but very nice when you get there. Helpful staff and plenty of room to not feel crowded. Several areas for pistol and rifle with covered areas and benches. The guys let me borrow a staple gun as I forgot mine. Multiple trap machines in an area where we could pull the truck right up to the thrower. Good experience. read more
