I went to A1 because they were an established builder in the area. When I first contacted them I…read moretold them what I wanted for a bathroom remodel and that my budget was around $50,000 for what I wanted. I was told $1000 would get me a place in line as they were rather busy and it would be applied to my job. The next step was talk to the designer when my turn came up. Again, I told the designer what I wanted and my budget. He listened and a few days later came back with a plan. His total for the remodel was over $72,000. Needless to say, I told him that it was over budget and wasn't going to work. So he redid the plans leaving off all the high dollar granite, etc., that no one had asked for in the first place. The second estimate was $60,000. I told them that wasn't going to work either and paid them over $1500 for the work they had done supposedly for design. I thought we were done until they called me today, a year later, informing me that I had an outstanding bill of $1700. I would definitely classify this place as a ripoff. I guess I can chalk this up as an expensive lesson well learned. I have paid over $3000 for absolutely nothing. I would suggest going to a more reputable builder if you want something remodeled.

One of the owners saw our notice and offered their services. I want you all to know that this cedar cabin is the best built cabin in Whatcom County. They used a transit to level the block foundation and replaced the provided screws with better ones from the company. These people spent their weekend plus a day assembling our cabin in the woods. I would not hesitate to highly recommend this solid local contractor. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship, even on a kit cabin, was impressive.
