I have never in all my years had a great experience as I did today at the Newton Lowe's store #1976.

We worked with Block Renovation for a full gut renovation of a full bathroom in Boston. We needed…read morethis done quickly (under 4 months design to completion) and due to busy schedules could not handhold contractors through the process. Block is definitely a premium service with a premium cost but they delivered on time, without hassle with a great product. The designer, Ryan and contractor, Mladen were really amazing and made the process painless. We are very happy with the outcome and if we were in a similar situation would definitely use them again. Some additional info, we have a 130 year old home with plenty of hidden fun behind the walls that needed remedying on top of the agreed upon work. The contractor and the team at Block updated the scope and the work was done with no problems. Overall, very happy with the work.

I was overwhelmed as…read morea first-time owner and went with Block to help with the design, logistics, and execution. My first paired contractor was unresponsive, so I requested a new one. The second one was good, but I have been finding issues and missed details throughout. Lazy painting, incorrectly installed appliances, crooked fixtures, areas skipped or unfinished. Overall I'm happy with it (hard not to be given the previous state of my apt), but I wish I had kept a much closer eye during the process because Block didn't - I thought they were supposed to do hence their premium prices.

I especially appreciated the same-day demo and installation and the attention to detail in every step of the project. Previously, Tri-State installed quartz in our new bathroom. We are very happy with their work on both projects.

We hired Tristate Stone and Tile for a custom sink and countertop install. While the final sink…read moreitself turned out beautiful, the overall experience was frustrating and disappointing. As others have stated, they aren't very customer service focused with emails and phone calls left unanswered for days and weeks. Communication was poor from the start, with very little sense of urgency. Their installers broke our medicine cabinet during installation -- then blamed us and our contractor, saying it shouldn't have been installed yet. This was never communicated beforehand, and we had made it clear they would be responsible for any damage. While they eventually agreed to cover the cost, we had to chase them for weeks to get reimbursed. They also removed the doors from our vanity cabinet and lost the hinge screws, which caused further unnecessary delays. The sink arrived unfinished, with glue all over the inside of the custom basin. We were empathetic to the fact that they're short-staffed, but the delays dragged our project out by months. To their credit, they were honest and ultimately made good on everything -- but only after persistent follow-up. If you choose to work with them, be ready to stay on top of every detail yourself.

My party of three and I visited Ena's Emporium recently only to be severely disappointed in the…read morecustomer service we received. Walking into the store, we were immediately assaulted with loud yelling and shrieking coming from the owner, Sheryl, who was on a telephone call in the back office. It was obvious tensions were high and, of course, that happens to the best of us, but she was superfluously loud and her shrieks followed us through the entire store. Shrill, rude, and unwelcoming were our first impressions of Ena's. While nearly nothing in the store was of our tastes - and only would be had our tastes included over-sized, gaudy furniture - we continued through to be polite, as it was clear to all of us from the moment we walked in the door, very little would appeal to us. Low and behold, after 10 minutes of exploring and moving deeper and deeper into the emporium more to escape the heightening squawks of the owner still on the telephone (y'all, I am NOT exaggerating. it was SO off-putting!), one of us found an item at least worth inquiring about. By this time, Sheryl was off the phone and met the member of our party, Linda, in the hallway as she was en route to ask about the price; the item had not been marked. When the owner responded, she quickly followed with a pushy, "So, do you want it?" Linda explained that she wanted to think about it and asked a follow-up question regarding the item as it seemed part of a set. Apparently, this was an incorrect assumption and Sheryl snatched the item from Linda's hand and very sarcastically replied, "No way!" She then made a disgusted sigh/laugh, turned on her heel and marched the item back to where it had been sitting. Taken aback, Linda turned to the man who had greeted us upon entering, and who was standing nearby, and said that she was very offended and didn't like how she had just been spoken to. Without apology, he responded that the owner was just in a bad mood from her prior telephone call, suggesting we should excuse her. So, not only was the owner incredibly rude, but the rest of her staff doesn't know enough to handle customers with care either. Having very tacky furnishings that only interest a small population of people is one thing, but also having deplorable customer service is another. What a winning combination! (Look! I can do sarcasm, too!) Seriously, don't waste your time being talked down to by stopping in.
